Love it all the way! I especially enjoyed how you were able to give life to the character through his expressions and movements. I also enjoy the rock and 'the way up'. Great job!

Vote for your favourite Category A entries

Definitively some great entries and therefore hard to choose. Nevertheless my points go to: 24) Musketeer Entry (Build by mookage) – I love the fact that you use Highlander 21) Mad Scientist Entry (Build by Darkblane) – great idea, great execution 10) Artist Entry (Build by migilio) – I especially like the Workbench -
Well, given that this is a preliminary pic, I'll postpone my judgment. I think it can be a nice ship and the minifigs look good. In any case: the more PoTC sets the better! This line is simply amazing.

Ranking the Stars! Background story: This entry is inspired by the kitsch television series "Ranking the Stars". It is originally a Japanese format whereby some 10 'celebrities' or 'stars' have to try to estimate correctly how the public ranked them on questions such as 'who would most likely swim naked in a public pool'. The format was copied in the Netherlands and Belgium and was quite popular - at least in the Netherlands. It is overall very trashy and the contestants are more often has-beens or never-was than actual stars, which gave me the excellent excuse to go all-out on this one. A fragment of the show can be found here: Ranking the stars (where one contestant shocks the others by peeing in a glass of water - yes it is really a 'high quality' show...) Overall shot of the setting As you can see, this MOC tells the story of the final episode where one of the stars wins the trophy and gets to splash some champagne. Some of the five other contestants are angry that they did not win. In the background one contestant even throws her glas of red wine on the brand new outfit of her neighbour. I created an area for an angry mob to be included. It rests on white and gold bricks to give it a more circus-ish feel. The family a.k.a. angry mob has buckets filled with rotten tomatoes (which they are throwing at the contestants). A final story line involves a robber suddenly storming on stage. The security guard is ready to jump in. The crowd Figures included in the series: 1. Presenter (with micro and trophy) - 2. Security guard (with uzi and stick) - 3. The robber (with tommy gun) - 4. Angry contestant Kelly (with glas of red wine) 5. Poor Patsy (with her radio) - 6. Random drunk with bottle (guess they were unable to find other contestants ) - 7. Tommy the old rocker (with mascara face and banana of which he believes it keeps him young) - 8. Fred the pop star (with mushroom - I'd like to stress that this is an ordinary mushroom). 9. The angry dad (with bucket and tomato) - 10. The angry mother (with bucket and tomato) - 11. The happy kid (with sausage) - 12. The winner (with cork and champagne) The final batch of minifigs can be found in my brickshelf folder (when public): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=475788 The folder also contains pictures of the setting without the figs - which allows a better look at the 'stars'. It includes the crew: 13. The camera woman (with camera) - 14. The happy technician (with walkie talkie) - 15. The bored technician (with cup of coffee) - 16. Cleaner (with cleaning accessories)

Nice review! This is a great set - one of the best this year (and it is a good LEGO year...)

Even for licensed sets I find them quite expensive. Nevertheless Dutch online stores offer reductions of 25 to 30%, so that's fine. I must say though that the prices are high, but the quality is as well: excellent printings, excellent pieces and lots of printed tiles in some of the sets. As long as one gets good quality, I'm willing to pay a bit more. I find that especially the mid-sized sets are worth it. By the way interestingly it seems that the sets don't sell that well in the Netherlands, but the individual minifigs are extremely popular on Marktplaats (the local equivalent of e-bay). So may be people want the figs but not the sets...

Very nice! Far better than the official PoTC official set... -
[Review] 6918-1: Blacksmith Attack

A nice set that I am certainly going to buy... -
Very nice - and the stork is indeed the star here! Good job!

Well it would be fun to have such a UCS. If it is a joust I guess it will be more something like the old joust (Classic Castle) rather than the Fantasy Era Final Joust. Could be fun, though I must say that the upcoming wave of sets excites me more. Nevertheless, I'm always happy with more Kingdoms sets

Looks good! Nice job - you clearly enjoyed yourself...

Great set, great review! I like the dragon/forest part most, but the carriage itself is also nice. Definitively a must-buy!

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
KristofBD replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Once again: Can't wait for new pics. I must say I enjoy this build far more than just seeing some pics of a finished build. One gets more appreciation for the building process if you see a MOC gradually emerging. Great job! -
Excellent MOC's! Lots of clever techniques and most importantly, a great atmosphere. Well done!
-
Great fun! Excellent MOC - my favourites are the two coaches.

@Zeya: one of my hats has the same misprinting. The other is perfectly fine. @JimButcher: both torso printings. My Kingdoms soldiers sometimes also had the problem, but I actually was not expecting it to happen here. Obviously, I will just talk to the Lego costumer service and ask for replacements, which will most likely be no problem at all.

I just got this set, and I must say I am quite pleased with it. Though the Inn is rather sketchy, it is nevertheless a nice building. I do have one problem though: bot royal guards actually have the pink printing problem: the white print is too thin as a result of which it turns out quite pink. I was wondering whether other people have encountered this problem as well... or am I the only one having it?

Very nice! I especially enjoyed the interior.

Excellent MOC! I especially like the ship as it is great in its simplicity!

Title: The Black Widow Theme: History Minifig: The Musketeer Background story: High on her castle tower Princess Rowena watches over her land languishing for love. Or so at least it seems... The princess 'accidentally' dropped her white handkerchief... so that the handsome musketeer can pick it up and bring it to her. Little does he know that he is not the first to fall in the hands of the princess... The princess surely likes whips and chains. In fact, the prison beneath the castle is littered with handsome musketeers and knights alike. There's even one (he looks a bit like a surfer) who is her current 'toyboy'. He does not seem to like it very much though...

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
KristofBD replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great news! I can hardly wait until the preliminary pics surface! -
Simply stunning... I'm in dubio whether or not to buy it (it will be my first modular), but I'm afraid I might get hooked to the 'line'
-
I basically agree with Niku:there's some very nice building techniques in this MOC. I think my personal favourite are the candles. I also agree that adding more colour variety in both the bley and the brown parts would greatly enhance the overall look of the building. But overall this is definitively a good MOC!

Nice and simple review, but man oh man LEGO has really made some astonishing progress the last ten years...

Thanks for the review! I will surely buy this one as soon as it comes out! It's just a truly amazing set!
