She really comes along, great progress so far! The forecastle and the headrails are looking really nice! Nice technic there with the hinges under the the tiles!

It's a nice ship allready, yes the stern could use some more work, as you mentioned yourself, so I won't comment anymore on that and wait for the new versions you'll present. I really like that you use string rigging and knotting for the cross strings, I myself gave up on that and started glueing, so you've got my respect for that! :thumbup: I would add another staysail,the space above the first one looks a bit empty. As for the bowprit, I think three yards are a bit much for a ship of that size :) But that's my point of view... One small thing about the accurate classification of your ship, with 14 guns she wouldn't be rated a ship of the line or even a frigate, most likely a "unrated" Gun-Brig or Cutter, but since it's lego It doesn't matter that much. (Even if some of us could be quite accurate about those tings ) But overall great work so far, nice pictures and I'll wait interested until you redone the stern! Keep briggin'!

It's really a nice start, CGH's hull-technic looks nice. I personally like it e bit less fractional - as you can see in my frigates, but it's fine work. My suggestion for the upper part of the white gunstripe is to change it completly into black and gold, as you can see on the picture. I think it would go nice with your color-sheme and would not look to high, as Captain Green Hair suggested,too. (Sorry about my editing with paint, but I guess you'll get it) What kind of rigging will she get? All Strings or the Lego-Shrouds as on the Puffin? (Nice ship by the way) If you'll use string one's I would suggest using these. Nice work!

I like it, that you'll want to make her a Schooner! There are way to many "big" ones out here in the forum. What you could try to do, other than adding the additional sail is to put the masts in an angle. That's a thing some schooner have. Some more inspiration can by found in this database (something I discovered recently) Keep us updated!

The second one is great to, I really love the "sail". But didn't Jack tell the people that he rescued himself by binding turtles together with the hairs from his back? (even if he war rescued by the rum-runners) But it's really a lovely little MOC, and I want to see more tales of good ol' Jack!

First of all to bump up old threats like that isn't the best way to say hello to this forum, especially If you refer to a statement wich is allmost 2 Years old, but it's still better than bumping that thread up to say "It's a nice ship" (Wich LE Fourageux definitly is). As to your remark. There is nothing wrong with the statement of the Admiral. As far as I know, there are not enough sources to discribe every frensh colorscheme present at Travalgar, but you can find a lot of sources about "how to paint your Napoleonic Era Ships to be historic accurate" ... Two of these sites are going along with the quote, even Wikipedia suggest, that the Nelson Checker was used by the Americans during the War of 1812... "and a lot of other nations" one of them the French... To quote Larsonweb.com: "French ships Le Guerrier: Dark yellow sides L’ Aquilon: Red sides with a black stroke between the upper and lower gun ports Le Franklin: Medium yellow sides Le Heureux: Very dark yellow sides Le Timoleon: Very dark red sides Le Guillaume: Light yellow sides with black stroke between upper and lower decks Some examples of ships at The Battle of Trafalgar 1805 taken from a data sheet provided by GHQ and other sources: All of the British ships were painted in the "Nelson Checker" of alternating black and yellow stripes and black gun ports. Thanks for the tip! I gonna make cotton sails, but until I have the right sizes and shapes you'll probally some more paper-versions first. I don't want to redo the masts of the Ares (since I invested quite a bit of money into the shrouds -knotting is definitly cheaper than glue ) But I guess I can improve a lot by changing the yards or maybe change the technic how the yards are fixed to the masts...

If you click the link you posted, and are not the owner of the brickshelf-folder, you got the message "This folder is not yet public." it's quite normal, it took time to get it public, don't know all the rules of brickshelf but I guess there are some reasons for that. That's why I use flickr to share my pictures.

I like what you done there, the idea to use the plants to make the rapiers stick is nice. I like the chaos and different grey colors in the ruin! And the bananas, too Can't wait to see more, when the bricklink folder is public!

I really like the use of the reversed cheesecorners in the tent, a lovly design! Keep the updates coming!

So, and finally the first Ship I worked on, with some more and detailed pictures. The Sails are a bit better than Athenas yet, but they can also be improved. Yes you're definitly right about it. After comparing them to the pictures of the Tricomalee, I don't like them, too. I guess I have to redo the upper parts of the masts (mostly thetopmast and topgalant mast parts - Thank god, there are no crossriggings allready ) I just printed ot the picture of the sailplan of the Tricomalee and used my ruler to measure the space between the yards and the yards themself. As for the studding-sails, yes the yards above the royal sail had to go... As for your comment about the sails-name printed on (in the Queen's Thread)... I had to write them on the patterns, otherwhise I would have a puzzle to solve I guess without your comments I would have settled for far less, so THANK YOU!

Picture-Time. I did the crossrigging on the shrouds, also added a tiled deck and created some pattern for the sails, which will be the next step of the project. As of now, I added the crew to pictures, since I got the camera I wanted some better pictures with something more thant the ship. Some details: The Lookout: The Stern: The Captain: The Bow: Cleaning the guns, quite important, but this pirate does it quite relaxed: The wheel and the young Helmsman. HMS Athena is an 18 gun-frigate, armed with addional 6 carronade and 4 swivel guns. She is a captured French Corvette, now under Redcoat-Flag... and she isn't finished... as all my ships are :) The Papersails are only some of the first versions,which I want to use as pattern for the cloth ones. So, let's start with the picture-flood HMS Athena- the smaller frigate with the larger spanker sail - as of yet... The Captain, the first Lt., a General of the British Army and a Spaniard watching the battle preparations on the poopdeck. Snot-platforms: The Spanker. I understand the problem... yes, normally the spanker-sail would be placed more inwards, but I got the proplem of the technic joints I used. Haven't figured that one out. Help is welcome. The Stern - a bit boring... but I think I'm gonna integrate some of the Musketeer feathers between the flowers. Vogelperspektive: Athena: The Marines: Headrails - still under construction, just noticed that the third black hose loosed herself on both sides. Hi, it's been a while, since I have posted some new pictures of my ship. I borrowed a Digi-cam from a friend and took some today. But since I have to return the cam quite soon, I can only spoiler you right now... more to come later... I took about 120 pictures, so I have to sort them out and use Photoshop to enhance the quality. But they are of a better quality than my handy-pictures allready. The Fleet-Spoiler, called "The Chase"... I guess the Pirates on the Queen forgot to lower the Jolly Rogders... More later! Are these nets from garlic or small onions? Nice recycling!!! As for the masts. First of all I like the improvement of the small details. And you are right. The different size of the masts are ok. but they definitly need some more work. First of all the colorscheme I like it and had something similar at the Ares first, but it's not accurate, the question is about what the yellow parts are. I mean black pieces could represent iron rings or things like that, and black color at both ends. The placment of the yards should be changed. Look at this picture for a accurate placing:

It's a nice MOC from a lot of castle pieces... could be improved here and there, but it's a solid build and a nice night's work! The photo-editing is nice. Did you spray the bricks with water after the building?

I’m not sure how to start this, without the danger of sounding wrong. First of all, it’s really a great MOC in total, with a lot of thinks I really like and one think which I didn’t. So personally, I’m with the Admiral at the point of saying that the Fort is quite fantasylike in the colorsheme. For my personal taste, it would have been better with less red and gold and still the tons of lovely details, like the legs and all the smoth SNOT technics on the fortwalls. Starting from the overall shape, nothing square, a dynamic form, really nice work!! But from the water to the Fort it get’s “worse”, “worse” but still really really awesome… I really like the ideas behind the water. I have never seen that much blue roof tops before, quite an interesting choice, better than SNOT water, from my point of view. The dock area, with the small huts is quite nice too! Lovely little details in them, nice roofs, too. And the “customs gate” brings a smile to my face. “How much rum do you like to bring with you?” The use of the green “casting frames“ in the palms is really a nice idea, too! The soldier playing in the sand!!! NICE… the redcoats must be quite desperate if they draft children The Fort: + great design + tons of decorations + lot of lovely details in the rooms, except the mess. The mess could have had some more furniture or other details beside the tables and chairs, but since it will be mostly covered when you present it, it’s a small thing… The Islander-hairpiece-lamp is a nice design! :thumbup: But as I said before, for my taste there is too much red. I guess I would have liked a red “old school” roof, some gold ornaments and the rest in white and tan (With all the colored SNOT details as well)… but not red at all, but that’s only my personal taste. So it’s too colourful for my eye and that’s the only little “but”. I really appreciate the tons of work you have put into it!!! Everyone can see that! So I would give you 4,75 of 5 stars. GREAT WORK, You can see the dedication and effort you put into this project(and money )… Fantastic work, I’m not sure If I could have had the nerve and the will to create something like that great MOC (in form and size, as well as in design) over such a long periode. NICE WORK!
