Petition: We want the Pirates Advent Calender in the United States
mikey replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
I live in the UK, but I think that the Pirate Advent Calender should be available for the United States/ Canada. I hope this works out for you all. Bobskink -so you don't think it should be available to the US, but you are willing to help any of the US members get one? -
These all look like really interesting sets, a lot better than I thought they would. I think the Wild West Scence and Buzz Lightyear Space Ship, along with the Army Men of course, look excellent. I'm still not that convinced by the 'Maxi-Figs' design for the Cowboys, but I can see the reason behind going in this direction with the theme. My only concern is the speculation about inferior quaility Mini Fig parts, I presume the issues with these have already been raised with Lego by various ambassadors. If we are seeing the introduction of these low quailty parts into the general product line, as opposed to the merchandise line, it will be a sad day for us all. Personally I would like to think that Lego would not choose such a move, and will still stick to the principle of 'only the best is good enough'.

A great first review of an excellent little set, Power Miners are not really my cup of tea, but who doesn't need a Rock Monster? It's a soothing little build, and you are left with some great parts, all the Power Miner Minifig's are great little characters, the printed Legs being a most essential part. I totally agree, I would even go as far as a 10/10, but with each set you buy you are left with three horrible orange bionicle parts, but I don't mind those when the interesting Lime Green pieces far out number them. I bought two of these and a Granite Grinder, and was very pleased. I hope we see some more smaller sets from this theme.

wow! this theme is looking very promising, I can't wait to see more pics/ set descriptions. Incidentally, I was teasing one of my nephew's that I knew what the next Lego theme was. For an 8 year old Power Miners Underwater is as good as it gets...

In defence of the Click Hinge system we now have and a array of variants, which I have recently found to be very usefull. In some ways if you have a supply of the Finger system, the Click system adds new possibilities. But it is sad to think at one point in the future all the Finger Hinge produced will be broken, and it will not be possible to ever use one again.

8033 General Grievous Starfighter Mini Model review
mikey replied to Matt Dawson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Another excellent little model, with some great parts (2 X Minifig, Neck Bracket with Back Stud). A brilliant end to an amazing promotion, which has created a Star Wars Lego customer... -
I think this is a superb little set, and for me the most enjoyable build so far. An assortment of usefull pieces (at well under 1p a piece), including a printed round tile! My only question is, Why is that piece only on 1 wing? The design seems very symmetrical, apart from this tile. Is this a representation of what the space ship is like in the films? Only 1 more day to go now though,

This sounds like a great list with 3 of the sets being excellent in my opinion, pigsty with tractor (what else could we ask for? who does not need some pigs and a tractor?), breakdown vehicle (this could be orange, and very cute), and fuel truck (could very well be just as nice as the Cement Mixer, or Garbage Truck?). Whilst these are not completely civilian sets, they are not Fire or Police sets either, so I am more than happy.

Have you stored the MiniFig complete for a long period of time, and then taken it apart and put the parts into new combinations? Maybe the parts have stretched to fit each other over time, which would make them difficult to re arrange?
-
This is what I hope for this set aswell. It would make an excellent little set, and would fit in with the Repair sub theme.

This is amazing, I was totally impressed before I saw the inside. The landscape is superb, and the interior excellent.

I'm impressed again with a great little model. Whilst a platform for the Droid's feet might be usefull, I can also imagine that a Droid might also be able to hold on with the arms. I'm not sure what it really is, what it should look like, but I know that I really enjoyed building it. Some excellent parts for me aswell. This promotion gets better and better...

This issue was my biggest disapointment when I came back to Lego. I had encountered them first in my nephew's Star Wars sets, and I was gutted when I found out the Fingered Hinge was out of production. Both types of design have advantages and flaws, and I can say from my Childhood expierence that the Fingered Hinge will eventully wear out and provide no friction. I presume that the Click Hinge is more resilient, although I do think that the actual Click could also be eroded with constant use. I think the Click Hinge is a really usefull part, and would not be without it now, but the Finger Hinge is essential as well. I use both, sometimes the Holding Power of our new fangled friend, the Bulky Click is needed. Another time the full Range of Movement which our classic and gracefull old companian, the Fingered Hinge provides is essential. The search for a decent sized stash of Finger Hinges lead me to my first BrickLink purchase.

how about.... Race for the Stolen Treasure -7622

Another great promo set today, the model does not impress me that much... But it does have an excellent assortment of intresting parts for 45p. And to top that off I got a Clone Walker with each paper I bought aswell. I have all the Newer Type in my set.

Another great little model today, containing a good selection of usefull parts. I think this promotion is MUCH better than the last City one, you could probably make an intresting Alternative model with all the pieces from this series.

I like your design for the Slushy Machine. You could think about trying to use better software, as Lego Factory is very limited. I have begun to try to use 'MLCAD', there is a learning curve but I think the potential is much greater. This program could also create the 'Parts List' for you to order from BrickLink.

This is a great article, and what I would expect to find in the Business Suplement of the a quality newspaper... I agree, it seems to paint Jorgen Vig Knudstorp as the model of Business Efficiency, I hope that he does not take this to far. I think the debate about Licensed Themes and Violence all comes down to the contrast between what adults want Lego to be, and what Kids want Lego to be. The 10% statistic for AFOL sales, then puts this into perspective.

You are lucky to own this set again, I look forward to your review!

You have created a great scence here, but I have one little request... As you have unpacked and built your Classic Police Station, do you think you could take more pictures of this great set? I had this set as a child, and seeing it now has brought back many good memories... Unfortunatley for me I gave away my childhood Lego many years ago. If you had time a review would be great, but I would be happy with just a few more pictures!
-
yes it's not the type of newspaper that you really want to buy, unless you get free Lego
-
I'm impressed as well, I think the control levers made from and are a really clever idea. This is the first Star Wars set I have built for myself, and I can see myself being tempted if I see any of the real sets on special offer now!

My enjoyment from Lego really comes from building my own creations, this is the challenge and the longest play time for me, my attention soon wanders when I engage in classic play, but the sense of satisfaction from a nicely ordered scene/model, is what I now seek from my past time. But this does not mean that I have totally lost the ability to engage in real child play space, it just lasts a lot shorter. These are my thoughts aswell, to me it does not matter whether the play functions would be used, I feel that I want to build these into my model. The medium of Lego requires a certain appreciation of its stylised nature to be used succesfully, and to me the creation should not be static, rather able to withstand handling, and incorporate moveable and play functions where possible.

when you consider getting rid of your cat, because the cat can't be trusted in the same room as Lego... i didn't put he's locked in the kitchen when Lego is about now

You have a great collection Klaus! Your park is looking excellent, and your addition of few 'undesirable characters' really tops it off. Nice design for the 'compacter', that your Pot Hole Crew are using aswell, I hope your LegoStadt continues to grow!
