  1. Sent you a PM re: buying the whole lot.
  2. Amazing! Do you guys think there's any chance Megabloks will expand their Hello Kitty line to include HK40K?!? I'm done with Halo, and I could sure go for a new action theme.
  3. Probably from Joystiq or another gaming blog: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/lego-group-purchases-lego-universe-and-dev-team-from-gazillion/
  4. Nice review! I've been curious about this set for a while, since I first saw it on BL about a year ago... the mini ship looked neat, but I couldn't find anything about it online. Now there's a review full of pictures! Oars? I was assuming they were rigging, and you were supposed to fold them up against the masts once the rest of the ship was built. Do they work as rigging?
  5. Four tiny pirates follow their father to work... looks like this wasn't the best opportunity for "take your child to work day"! Figured I would do something with the cute little pirates from the Pirate Plank game I bought this afternoon. :)
  6. These look amazing! I'd better start figuring out which to buy immediately and which I can hold off on until they're on sale... yikes! The wood plank is definitely a sticker... that set looks like it has a ton of stickers, but it's a nice fort and the figures look great.
  7. Finished my Series 3 collection with a sumo wrestler and snowboarder, and picked up an extra space villain and elf. $2.99 at the Target in Redwood City, CA.
  8. Nice work, it looks spot-on! I'm glad somebody made good use of those "instruction" photos. And thanks for the compliment. In case anyone hasn't seen the original: Aw man, illegal connections... LDD must be picky about what is legal and what is not. I didn't even use any superglue!
  9. The mini Vulture Droid looks great! I hope it (and the Venator) are the US Target Easter sets, instead of that awful ATT. I did a quick mock-up of how I think the Vulture is constructed... it will be able to stand up, but I don't think the wings can close. Sorry for the crazy colors--obviously this mini will come with some useful parts for me.
  10. Thanks @GRogall for this, and many other, picture! I like the design of the cars; this red sports car looks nicer than the one we got a year or two ago, though it's a bummer it requires stickers to achieve the stripe effect. Ugh, I agree about the tires. Surely someday one of the Lego designers will notice that cars don't have fat tires jutting out the sides like that... they look awful.
  11. Totally awesome. I'd buy one!
  12. Ooh, the new sides are excellent. I still think the engine is a bit much, but it is pretty. The front still looks too open -- I assume you don't want to do windows, but I'd try to close it up a bit. Nice work!
  13. I hope that price on the Tri-Fighter is a typo, or else that's a terrible deal (more than MSRP; on sale at amazon for $21).
  14. Nice MOC! I like the architecture, and the minifigs are nicely done. But I should note: in 6th century BC, all that white marble would be painted gaudy colors. Apparently ancient Athens was quite tacky back in the day!
  15. Spectacular! The back looks much better now. If you were to post instructions, I think this is one of the few models I've seen that I'd try to reproduce myself. Great work!
  16. My own fault for not looking it up--I knew "beaker" was wrong but typed it anyways. I guess Series 3+ are supposed to be far more widely available than Series 1 and 2 were, so hopefully we'll all have more pleasant purchasing experiences this time around. And here's hoping for reprints of Series 1 and 2 next year.
  17. Series 4 looks amazing. The only figure that seems like a boring repeat is the Surfer Girl... unfortunate, since she's one of the few female figures in Series 4. I'd be bored with the Mad Scientist, were it not for that beaker Erlenmeyer flask. I disagree about the Sailor, if only because the folks that build massive minifig-scale warships will buy sailors by the boatload.
  18. I don't know if I buy that argument. The profit margin on the magnet sets must be huge, and it's not likely that folks (including myself) who might normally buy a magnet set to get a particular figure will now spring for a $100 set we're otherwise disinterested in. That will happen sometimes, but overall I doubt this will be much of a win for TLG. The snake set? I've seen it at Lego Stores and at Toys 'R Us here in the San Francisco area. The sphinx set seems to be the only one that's tricky to find... I've only seen it at TRU.
  19. Here's something interesting I noticed, as I've been sloooooowly building this set: the pharaoh figure is not in the first bag, and isn't built up-front with all the other minifigs. The pharaoh shows up in bag 4 with his sarcophagus, and his headdress is in bag 6. The evening I bought the set, I opened the first bag and built all the minifigs... it wasn't until the next day that I realized I hadn't built the pharoah. This is the first time I've seen a minifig show up anywhere other than the first page of the instruction book -- has this been done before?
  20. Great review! I ran out and bought one myself. Hard plastic.
  21. I saw the magnet set today at my local Lego Store. It comes with the Anubis and Pharaoh from the Pyramid set, and Jake Raines wearing his jacket from the biplane set. So they are glued?!? Yikes, I'm glad I decided to spring for the whole Pyramid set, instead of picking up a couple of the smaller sets + a magnet pack or two. This news of glue does not bode well for the future... there are several Star Wars figures I was hoping to get next year via magnet set, but glue would ruin everything.
  22. This is nice work, bricked one! I think you have come the closest to making a truly minifig scale Tumbler. I've thought about revisiting my Batmobile designs to aim for 8- or 10-wide actual minfig scale versions, but so far I've lacked the motivation. Yours seems to be 10-wide, due to the rear tires? Have you found any tire options that might let you do 8- or 9-wide version? I'd like to see clearer pictures before I make too many suggestions, but it looks good overall. I like the front, and the engine in the rear looks great (though quite a bit out of scale). I agree the sides need a little work, but you've done a nice job abstracting out the details and getting the overall look right. I'd suggest using smaller tires in the front -- the difference in size between the front and rear tires is quite exaggerated (in the film; most toys seem to be based on a pre-production model with larger front tires). Anyways, thanks for sharing and keep up the good work! And hooray for a new Batman MOCs in the Harry Potter Licensed forum!
  23. Took me long enough... but I've got instructions! Well, build photos at least! So if you'd like to recreate my Tumbler, check out the flickr set: I also took the opportunity to give the driver a roomier cockpit, by replacing the 6x8 plate on the bottom with a recessed vehicle base. Batman approves! If you do build a copy, or a Tumbler based on mine, please do share photos!
  24. I found them at one of the three local Targets on Monday... the other two weren't putting out there Halloween stuff yet, and when I scanned the barcode of an empty wrapper (got it at TRU), the scanners said the shelf was "N/A" and there were none in the stockroom. I think it's clear they show up with the Halloween stuff, so that's what to watch for. Interestingly, I scanned the same empty wrapper at a Walmart, and it came up "Minifigures Series 2" for $1.97 but had nothing about having them in stock. Simple: TRU and the Lego Stores will get fewer boxes this time. My local TRU got at least 3 separate shipments of Series 1; maybe they'll get fewer of Series 2 because some went to Target.
  25. I've seen those two set at one of my three nearby-ish Borders... the stock seems to vary a lot between stores, so you might want to call ahead. They've marked the Slave I up to $90, though 40% off $90 is still pretty good.
