Most excellent work de Gothia. Like Z said, I feel you could have added more to the gray roof, however its good to see you experimenting with these things. I can see you were going for a more old run down look for that building, so it does work. Nice to have some more Albion builds, its I must get round to myself. Great work, another fine addition to Avalonia

B-OV-33B & B-RV-15A Hey guys, Here are 2 recent builds to add to my collection of English country cottages and buildings. I have been promoting these for the last year on my job, as I travel around England as an events organizer, so I have managed to gain enough interest from clients to finally start selling these as commission pieces. First we have 'The Vintner' Built in the late 1400s and situated on Sheep Street, this wonderful timber-framed townhouse has been a vintner, or seller of wines, since the 1600s. Did the Great Bard of Stratford, William Shakespeare, purchase his wine here? This model is the first to built for commission and is a test design, the final version will have propper printed stickers with the name of the shop. Next we have 'Blencathra' Blencathra, Cumbria, North West. Situated at the foot of Blencathra, Threlkeld's Old Mission Room was built in 1885 by the Keswick & District Christian Workers' Band using Lakeland slate rubble for the walls and green slate tiles. This model won't is just another one for the collection, im not that fond of it, mainly because I could have done so much more with the build, it should have had a roof built with dark bley 2x2 round tiles or sand green. However, if it ends up as a commission piece I will re-build it to a better standard. Thanks for viewing DC

Yeah that's the one, always liked that set, mainly because it was the one that always eluded me as a kid. YesI fully agree about giving them a full make over. Not just rebuilding the set with new colors, but doing a larger more detailed version of the set. For starters, if I was to build that set I would create my own brick built rock base and the model would be larger but I would still keep to the basic shape so it's still recognizable. Would be a fun project Z, maybe we should both pick a faction and give them a 21st century makeover. Very tempting.

Very true, and let's be honest, if you had a 2000 fig army you would need a pretty big moc to display them all. I've built some large mocs but there's no way I could fit 2000 figs on them without it looking stupid. It makes sense to have a basic key or rule of the amount of soldiers like Rogueang said. So if we say that 10 figs stands for 100 men, that gives a good rule to go by.

Interesting you brought this up Z, I spent many months debating weather to do a rebuild of the Guarded Inn with dark red, but never got round to it. I think it would be fun to try rebuilding some classic sets with new colors and techniques. Lots to choose from. The forestmen sets would be good as well as wolf pack. I am quite fond of the second crusaders castle, the one with the raised baseplate, I think it was set 6081. Might give that a try soon.

Looking most excellent Z! Don't forget guys, because your entries are going into a public vote, we must ask that all your entries for challenge 3 be in one post. It makes it far easier for people to view one post with all the different scenes in, rather then several. Basically if you look at how Tazmaniac compiled his. When the public vote goes ahead, people will only then have one link to click on to view a persons entry. We will have some great mini challenges and prizes going on once challenge 3 is over. This will fill the gab between challenge 4, as I think we may leave it a while before challenge 4 kicks in. -
Great build, I love the Rocher that is been held in the cage so it cant get away Very nicely done

Thats awesome, I love that statue, very well built indeed! Nice idea and story, the channel of red flowers really stand out as a warning . Great entry

I have to agree with you guys. I picked out 10 black Knight cmf as I thought they would come in handy for my Black Knight story line. I was mainly excited about the shield as a Boar was a commen design in medieval times and I've been waiting for Lego to bring something like that out as well as a fox head. I thought the boar design would be red and stand out, but to be honest it looks more like brown! Very dark and only clearly visible in good light. Bit of a bugger but I'll live with it. Im glad I grabbed plenty of Romans last time round as they were far better. -

That's excellent! I had a box of those the other day and thought of sneaking one into a moc. I think my next village scene will have a Rocher shop.

Thanks for your comments Ahh you noticed the yellow rims! Yes they bug me too, but they were the only rims I had. I have a large Lego collection, but it's all full of castle parts and historic orientated, so it was a bugger finding parts to use for this. I'm going to have to start buying some space parts! Well the 1x1 rounds were added in as an after thought to make the terrain look different, as it looked kind of plain with just plates. That blue color is actually Sky Blue. It looks very similar to Maersk blue but it's lighter and harder to find, not many ever use it. This was more of a cartoon type build in someways, so I will try something of a more serious tone next time. Thanks all DC

The FOOL-TRON P.U.V The Fool-Tron race are known for being rather stupid, the laughing stock of the Galaxy and their latest creation is no exception to their rule. They have managed to produce a space vehicle that does absolutly nothing useful at all, and their extremly proud of it! With a mind of its own, no steering and prone to sometimes self-distruct, the aptly named P.U.V is another fine example of their foolishness. I have never built any Sci-Fi mocs before, this is my first attempt and I didn't really have a clue what I was doing. I didn't have any inspiration, I just decided to build and see what happens and this kind of just evolved! Still, it was great fun to build and I figured that my building skills will never evolve and improve if I just stick to one theme, so I plan to build more Sci-Fi and other themes from now on....as well as castle! It's from where I have been building in a more dark and creepy style. I'm building up an area in the mystic Isles called the. dark Forest where the Black Knight lives and naturally the buildings all have a more creepy Gothic style and look like they could belong in Nocturnus. -

I love the fact that Taz has invented his own excellent stone wall style, looks great A very strong Nocturnus Entry! I must admit, If I wasn't in Avalonia I would be building in Nocturnus, just love the creepy gothic vibe at the mo. However, those pesky Drow have overstepping the line again recently, so Avalonia may have to send over an extermination squad to put them back in their place! What we need is some giant spiders/with riders! -
Great work! I love all these scenes you have created, they flow with the story well. Great use of techniques throughout, I particularly like the cliff with the small stream below and the horse and cart. Well done, this is a great and fun entry

That is looking stunning Z, you are really on to something with this! I think you shouldn't show anymore wip shots, just wait and wow us all with the final finished moc! The Drow could never conquer Avalonia! They may be sly and devious and they may have good warriors, but they don't have the heart! Avalonia are fighters and never give up! We have character and skill! We build, we fight, we drink, we party, we dominate the rest!.....That's just how we roll!!!! Lord Susan and Lord Sally....New titles me thinks -
This is the best pirate themed moc I've seen for ages! Just love it! The brilliant use of gray for the sea coupled with the excellent waves and debris really make this stand out and look like a painting. Both ships are nicely detailed and full of action, I particularly like the Galleon and it's color scheme and details. A truely great build! Is this for the JRC? That category did sound cool. Hopefully you might bring this to STEAM??? We must build a collaborative pirate display sometime!

The GoH Offical Member Survey
Derfel Cadarn replied to Sirens-of-Titan's topic in Guilds of Historica
Sounds good, the unlimited size suits the current challenge, but future challenge will have different size limitations depending on what the challenge is. The watchtower challenge suited 32x32 as that's really all you need to build a good watch tower, but if we asked you all to build a castle stronghold we would probably give a bigger limitation. However, we could always say a minimum of 32x32 and maximum of 48x48, that would allow some people to expand a bit. Plus, you can always build upward!
