  1. The Manager of my Toyworld seems to make stuff up as much as the rest of his staff. Oh well... Mine should arrive soon in the post, so I'm happy.
  2. This hair: It says, "I look pretty, but I can also be an action hero when I need to be". Um... actually, that's an accountable fondness, isn't it... What about this: When I was a kid, I wanted to be the pirate who was lost out to sea in this tub with nothing but an oar.
  3. Two things. This: Which keeps appearing as a general tool for holding up bars, even though it clearly has toes. It has toes! Can't they design a generic piece to do the same thing? And this: Which I don't know what the heck it's supposed to be, but it keeps appearing over and over, usually for no reason except to get mileage out of the mould. Plus most of the torsos listed in the first post.
  4. Oh yeah... I didn't realise there were two different hull sizes with the earlier ships, I was only searching for the larger ones. The Cross Bone Clipper also has a black hull, but it doesn't have any of the mid sections. So you can only make very small boats with a black hull.
  5. Looking through BrickLink, the original hull parts were only available in red (Red Beard Runner) and brown (everything else). Now we have a choice between reddish brown (Brickbeard's Bounty) and dark brown (Imperial Flagship). If/when they continue the Pirates theme, what other hull colours would you like to see produced? I'm thinking in terms of what could be useful for MOCs. White could be useful for naval ships. Black could make some very sinister pirate ships. Blue or red would work for bluecoats or redcoats, and would make the seas more colourful. Grey and light brown are more neutral tones. Since the original range only had two colours available, I can't imagine them extending their current range beyond one more colour, so it would have to be a wise decision... Or, would you rather see the dark brown pieces available in a cheaper set? Personally, I can see a lot of potential in a lighter shade of brown. Not very exciting, but it gives more variety to the shades of brown we already have.
  6. I haven't seen Luke's Landspeeder anywhere in Wellington but at Toyworld... I've checked both Farmers stores. I don't think they're going to stock it before the sale finishes...
  7. I like this very much... and, BTW, what ninjas?
  8. You know, this could be made into a great game... 'Here is a jumbled collection of sets, some partially built, some incomplete. Can you guess which sets they are?'
  9. Oh, and as for things that kept me in my Lego Dark Age, I went into the store after a five year absense and saw this set. It was a while before I returned again.
  10. Last time you said something like that, the Imperial Flagship appeared a short while later... you'd better not be toying with our weak and suggestive minds.
  11. He means... we know what two of them are, but not the other fourteen.
  12. Yes! I remember that... although I think it has become Chinese Whispers a little. I guess there's still a ray of hope...
  13. It's hard to tell from the photos, but comparing it with similar pictures of cheap plastic figures, it really does look like they have The Mark. I already thought they were slightly too expensive already, but if they're made with cheap plastic, that suddenly makes them overpriced. I mean, I thought the point of cheap plastic was to reduce the price, not to radically increase profit margin. Meh... I think I'll pass. I collect Lego because of the high quality, and that's why I pay the high prices. My themes can survive without these figs.
  14. That's kind of like having a card game where the super cool powerful card is more common than the run-of-the-mill basic card. It'll probably be something like this: Common: Nurse, Skater, Crash Test Dummy, Diver, Cheerleader. In other words, the ones that Your Mom would probably like. Rare: Spaceman, Robot, Robin Hood, Wrester. In other words, the one that would be the most exciting to kids. I'm almost willing to bet that the spaceman with his super cool laser gun is a rare one.
  15. Especially if you get a 20% staff discount mwahahaha. Can't wait for the upcoming New York toy fair to find out what the next sixteen are. I'm going to be peeved if they still won't allow pictures of them.
  16. I thought some of them would be rarer, it would be unusual for something like this to have them all in equal quantity. If any of the ones I want are 'rare', I'll get them all from Bricklink. Otherwise I'll try to collect them the normal way. It's too expensive a hobby otherwise.
  17. Wow - I really had no idea how puny the new fort was compared to Eldorado until now. I imagine it's going to look tiny next to my Imperial Flagship. Incidentally, nice idea, but now you need to 'own' it. What if you tried taking both sets apart and pooling them together on the baseplate to make a sort of mega fort?
  18. I would say the lightsaber blade, but that first appeared in 1999, so I think it doesn't count... In that case I'm going to have to go with the spyglass. It can be a spyglass, a torch, the supporting bars on a fence or a biplane or a banister, the base of a stool... I'd also say the cheese slope, but to use it to its full potential requires inverted cheese sloped and corner cheese slopes. The double cheese slope is useful, but not as useful as any of those would have been.
  19. I don't think it's likely - a Grail Temple set would be a playset like the other Indy locations, Exclusives are always complete models instead of just playsets. An Indy exclusive might be... the submarine from the first Lost Ark, the train from the Last Crusade or possibly the German castle holding Indy's father from the Last Crusade. Since the Imperial Flagship wasn't technically part of the Pirates line, and it was released after the line had technically finished, I'm still hoping that a good Indy Exclusive will be released, even though the Indy line has (allegedly) also finished.
  20. Ooh... thanks. It's great that they have that Ninja Master guy there, because now I can add the Ninja from the Minifigures Series 1 to my pirate setting and it will totally be canon. Incidentally, I think the 'junior pirate captain' does count. Just because he's smiling blandly doesn't mean he isn't as much of a pirate as the rest of the figs. It helps if you give his nice pirate coat to another pirate (I gave it to Stubble & Smirk) and substitute it for something more simple, like the green and white striped shirt.
  21. Has anyone seen 3178 Seaplane? I just can't seem to find it anywhere. Also, the catalogue lists 3222 Helicopter and Limosine as being a store exclusive - anyone know which store this might be? I hope it's not K-Mart because I hate having to trek out to Porirua.
  22. Hey, where is a complete list of all the pirate characters from the Lego Battles game?
  23. I know the argument about whether the figs are real or computer generated is kind of redundant, but assuming you have working binocular vision, try this: Open a page so you can see both sets of bows and arrows at the same time, going to the highest resolution your computer can allow. Tilt your head to an angle so that the bows are aligned, then cross your eyes so that your left eye is looking at the right-hand figure and your right eye is looking at the left-hand figure. The result should be a perfect 3D image, which can only be the result of computer imagery. The colours on the figures won't sync, but the bows will. Thank you and good night. Edit: Okay, it won't be 'perfect', because one bow is further away than the other, but you can see that the angles of the bows are the same to within 0.000 degrees.
  24. They've already done that with the nazi biplane and the nazi flying wing and various other nazi vehicles - why is a tank different? I don't understand why they insist on maintaining this façade of anti-violence. How is a WW2 'enemy' tank different from a WW2 'enemy' biplane? How is a WW2 tank different from a Star Wars killing machine? They're all vehicles of war. Where do I sign the petition to get this set releases? Even if it's a S@H exclusive or something so it never tarnishes the lego toy shelves.
  25. I haven't commented on a Western MOC before, but this is amazing. Maybe Lego could hire you to work on some Western modular buildings? I love... everything about this MOC. I don't know what else to say.
