Is it just me, or are these new Creator buildings open at the back? And I'm not entirely sure they fold up to make a complete building the way Creator buildings normally do. If this is the case, I'm disappointed because one of the most appealing things to me about Creator buildings is that they are whole buildings. I'll have to wait and see. The Family Villa looks like it could fold in half, but then there's that windowsill across the centre on the top floor that would look a bit weird if it was split in half. Oh well. This might be the excuse I need to slow down my acquisition of Creator building sets, it has been getting a bit expensive

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
David Thomsen replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I once asked them to do a Creator Expert Lambourghini Countach, and they told me to submit one through Lego Ideas if I really wanted one. I don't think they pay much attention to individual requests, unless those requests are backed up by 10,000 votes. So people need to vote for, or create, a UCS Cloud City Ideas set if they want it to happen... -
General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
David Thomsen replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
It took me a moment to even see the ship, I'm used to them facing to the left on the boxes... but this is facing to the right? What I can see doesn't exactly inspire me, but I'll wait and see. It would be great to get another ship, but it would also be great to save a bunch of money. A D2C Black Pearl would have been a day one for me. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
David Thomsen replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'd always thought the Pirate Captain and Scallywag were set opposite the bluecoat soldier, but looking through Bricklink now I see that this figure is actually a Revolutionary Soldier, so not really opposite to the Pirates at all... which means there's a huge gap in the CMF range for a Soldier of some kind.- 1,421 replies

A Highway person could potentially fit with my Pirates theme, a Town Crier would probably not... so I'm fine with it not being a Town Crier- 1,421 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
David Thomsen replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
When asked how 75179 is an Episode 8 set, CM4Sci says 'it's in the smack middle of the EP 8 range'. I'm a bit confused because the two sets numerically next to it, 75178 and 75180, are TFA sets? -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
David Thomsen replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I tend to rely on BrickSet for solid confirmed information, it seems a bit pointless if they list rumors as well. I guess maybe I'll stick to BrickLink for real info. You can't sell a set that doesn't exist. -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
David Thomsen replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I was thinking something like that... technically the set is kind of a 'rebel hangar' if it includes ground crew, hangar gear and stuff. I just wish Brickset would remove the listing if it's not actually a real set. -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
David Thomsen replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've been trying to find information on this 75179 Rebel Hangar set, but the evidence for it seems kind of circular, like Site A will list it because Site B lists it, and Site B will list it because Site A lists it. I almost think Brickset uses itself for a point of reference. Also the first mentions of it were in September last year, which seems like a long time with no new information, and conversations before that seem to confuse it with the new A-Wing Starfighter. Does anyone have any kind of concrete information about it, like they've seen a retail listing or something? -
New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
David Thomsen replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I sent an email to the Lego customer service people asking if Luke's Landspeeder would be ever be available in stores, because I would prefer to buy it there rather than pay for shipping. And they replied, 'good news, the set is available from Shop At Home!'. So not much help there. -
New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"

Does anyone know if/when/where the new Star Wars sets will be available in NZ? They seem to be available overseas but I can't find things like Luke's Landspeeder anywhere. -
The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
David Thomsen replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The previous Tantive only had 1408 pieces, making it quite small by UCS standards. The ship could be done with 3K+ pieces, which would make it not be a rerelease... -
I feel like the most 'modern' style home we've had is 31012 Family House, with the unique use of windows, so I imagine it'll be something like that, but smaller.
-
Ooh nice, Familievilla, we haven't had a non-townhouse family home in a while, and quite a high price tag so should be a decent size. I'm guessing about the size of 31012 Family House, based on some price comparisons. And a 'modern house' as well? About the size of 7346 Seaside House, I think. I wonder if the spaceshuttle would be minifig compatible, since that seems like an ongoing trend? It's the same price as the Seaplane Adventures, so might happen. Actually, it would be great if the 'spaceshuttle' is a Space style set rather than a City style set. We haven't had a good Space set in a while, unless you count the current Space/Castle mashup theme, which I don't...

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)

Hi thanks for the link, it was hard to trawl through that thread since people seem to be just bickering about the Freemaker Adventure sets but I'll keep an eye out for news there now. -
The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
David Thomsen replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I found this by googling 'UCS Star Wars Lego 2017'... any updates/rumours about this yet? I had been in a Lego Star Wars Dark Age for the last decade or so, since the original UCS MF came out and I just couldn't afford it so I gave up collecting the theme... but I have a bit more income now and have started collecting Star Wars again and curious about what the UCS will be this year. I'm hoping it's the MF, but from the original trilogy, rather than the new one... although I guess since the only real difference is that radar dish, they could do both in the same set, in a 'Millennium Falcon: Generations' kind of way. Preferably, if possible, a MF with a proper interior... Alternatively a Tantive IV, since the only other versions are a bit out of proportion. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
David Thomsen replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think they'll never re-release exactly the same figure, unless it was part of a 'best of' at S100 or something. But they'll almost certainly start recycling concepts, if only because it's been more than six years since the CMF line was launched and it only takes three years for a new police station to come out... these are aimed at children and there are now six years of children who have grown into Lego age since the Ninja was first released. We've already sort of seen a remake with the S01 Spaceman -> S15 Astronaut, although there's a slight difference in concept as the former is a sci-fi character and the latter is supposed to be more realistic. On the other hand there's an almost unlimited amount of foods and animals that can be made into minifigures, so. Maybe they'll never do repeats, and S36 will look something like Oyster Girl, Kiwifruit Guy, Durian Lady, Pangolin Boy, Axolotl Man...- 1,421 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
David Thomsen replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Itaria has already said that their source of information will be cut off if they reveal the whole list, so I think it's understandable that they want to maintain that source. I'm kind of glad the game is over, I found it more frustrating than anything else, and it meant that this topic got flooded with guesses that I had to search through while looking for definitive information.- 1,421 replies

I have a feeling we've seen that ship before, and it's a prototype or something, but it would be useful to refresh my memory. -

I like the solution to the Park Street Townhouse with the flipping-up wall where the heights of the building halves don't match, I was wondering what they were going to do about that. It's one of those sets where I actually prefer the B and C models to the A model... that little restaurant, and the house with the conservatory, are gorgeous. Also, is the waitress at the restaurant serving up dog parts from the townhouse dog??? What head does the pilot of the sea plane have? It appears to have a beard on one side and no beard on the other, I'm unfamiliar with it.

just2good has done a review of the Moana Ocean Voyage, and I think there are a couple of things that might be of interest to Islander fans, in particular some of the stickers that the boat uses, if you like stickers. Very Islander-y patterns. Also has a cool Pineapple piece I haven't seen before. Lots of foliage too.
-
Cool! I saw the leaked pics but didn't pay attention to the seaplane because I had assumed it wasn't minifig compatible There's not enough 'land' in that pic to build anything on... I wonder if that means the underside of the plane has beige plates, or the floor inside.

I'm excited to see that the Seaplane Adventures set is minifig compatible, after the Vacation Getaways last year. They've started making minifig-compatible Creator sets that aren't just buildings. And like the VG, I'm looking forward to seein what the alternative builds of SA are. I'm guessing at least one of them is some kind of boat, and maybe a building but I can't picture what kind of building they'd make that doesn't have doors and windows? Maybe some kind of fort. I like how they've managed to do Creator-style wings, very cool.
