Thanks for all your comments Glad to see I'm not the only Galaxy Squad fan here. I'm also happy to see that the giant bug is pretty popular here ^^ Hmm, I did not count but there are 20 "layers" for the body with 7 parts per face (counting inner structure) so at least 7x4x20 = 560 pieces for the main boy, plus the head makes a total of between 600 and 700 pieces maybe. I had to make a big slope order on BL for this big boy

Hi everyone, I'm am not a big buyer of Chima sets, but a few one are instant buy for me and let me review one of these. The new wave is already for sale in some stores here in France - and this is the one that caught my eye. Reference : 70221 : Flinx's Ultimate Phoenix Theme : Legend of Chima Year: 2015 Parts : 172 Price : 19,99€ The box Classic "Fire VS Ice" pattern, and the back of the box shows various playability aspects of the set. Parts / Instruction One small instruction manual, two bags of pieces - nothing unusual so far. But speaking of pieces, the inventory of this set is pretty good - we have some new parts (or at least new to me) and new re-colored ones : - the big wings / flame pieces that are new and pretty good looking - spear end / head pieces - plate with handle on both ends - beak part in trans-orange - the "A" piece in reddish brown - printed pieces for the eyes (yeah no stickers) - bionicle paw (new to me but maybe not new for experts ^^) I also noticed that we have new shape for the 1x1 with clip - left side the new ones and right side the old ones : Minifigures Voom Voom : What a funny name ^^ He looks good and still a little frozen with its iced-leg. Not an exclusive minifig, he's here equipped with a scythe and trans-blue armor : Front/back details - no dual-head for him : He also can equip some kind of jet-pack, strange choice for a flying creature but whatever ^^ Flinx : Smallest member of its tribe, he has now adult wings (compared the previous version with only tiny fire feathers). He's equipped with a big spear and pearl gold armor : Front/back details - he has a dual head : warrior or happy face. The Phoenix Main build for this set, we have a pretty majestic result. There is a small place for Flinx, and can be used in different modes. First the flying one : Where we can spread its wings ("fire chi power mode" according to the box) : And of course it can stand on its legs for a gorgeous result : (and of course the famous flick-missiles are still there ^^) Spare parts Nothing crazy Conclusion Classic 20€ set with a big vehicle/creature for one side with an opponent on a tiny jet-pack but this is enough for instant play. With articulated legs/wings/tail it can take various poses and is - as said before - pretty majestic. Two nice and detailed minifigures and some interesting parts, what else can we ask ? And a last picture to conclude :

Good idea for the area under the tree where there is no snow

Thanks everyone for your kind comments Here you are, poor quality pic but it explains how I build them - nothing complicated you just need to own these black tiny curved slope pieces, other pieces are pretty common.

Hi everyone, You can already see this creation in the scene presented in another Galaxy Squad topic here but this one comes with a little story :) When I bought 1st wave of GS line, I had to admit something : seems that there was not much budget left for the red team's vehicles : With only this small one, life against the aliens wasn't easy at all : So they hired the best mechanics ... ... and then was built the red battle mech ! Again, I wanted it to keep a good playability so torso can rotate And it has a canon to fight ... ... and seems that roles are switched now, isn't it ? ^^ But it can also fight without his gun : High Kick ! Mission accomplished :) Hope you'll like it, I had as much fun building it than imagine the little story for its presentation ^^ As always, C&C are welcome

Hi everyone, After another Galaxy Squad topic here let me show you a small creation I made to honor the blue team - the Space Splitter : But why "Splitter" ? Well, most official GS sets had the characteristic to split into separate vehicles and that's what I wanted to enhance here. The main structure can split into different parts : And assemble to have as a result a mini-spaceship, armed mech and a maintenance robot : Everything connected with the use of technic pins and holes like this So we keep a good playability as you can clip/un-clip each part as you want :) Below the 2 mini vehicles in details, starting by the mini-spaceship : And the mech with heavy guns : Do not forget the tiny robot here to assist the blue team ^^ An overall picture to finish : Note - Shape and functionality inspired by the legendary set : Ice Planet 6973 Deep Freeze Defender :) Hope you'll like it, C&C are as always welcome

Hi everyone, Galaxy Squad line is maybe not the most popular one, but I really liked this line, so I created a little battle scene in honor of it for an exposition in France this year (Fanabriques) Poor red team, despite having two mechs the battle is not so easy due to the big larva alien that just appeared from its crater ^^ Some details : And as it was displayed in Fanabriques : I really tried to create a dynamic scene, with flying mosquito aliens and some laser shoots, I hope you'll like it. C&C are as always welcome.

Galaxy Squad line was a must have for me. I'm not into Star Wars sets so I guess I was really happy to see some Space related stuff at last. The different sets of the line are pretty good-looking with a clever playability (most human vehicles can split into separate vehicles or can transform (i.e. 70707). 70701 is maybe one of the best recent set in my opinion regarding its small cost, and it definitely has the feeling of a cool spaceship with clever design. Each squad also has its color scheme, along with the insects theme and as they all use primary colors it is easy to create new things for one team (except maybe for the blue team for which medium azure is not very common). I will post here in EB some of my GS creations to illustrate. I'm sad to see that it did not worked well. It really had a mix of nostalgia and good ideas, it only missed a proper base or HQ to be a perfect line for me.

Hi everyone, Here is my entry for the Expand the Winter Village Contest V - the Christmas frozen fountain : A lovely place for Santa and Gingerbread Man to practice ice-skating Below the details of the different elements - I tried to keep the spirit of official winter sets : Yeti feeding his cat : Holiday elves riding a sledge driven by the fastest penguins of the North pole : And of course the fountain : Hope you'll like it. Comments and remarks are welcome

Hi everyone, Here is a small seasonal build made for a small Lego event in France last Sunday (Fanasbruche). The rock structure is especially here to add visibility In spoiler - Another view of the witch and a view of the back (I know I know she lost some hair on the rear of her head, let's say it's due to her age )

Same here, the main goal was having fun (there was no 100$ prize on the line btw - so I think the pleasure to build something was everyone's only motivation). I wanted to point those details to have a fair challenge - that's all - and I'm glad to see digital and real entries will be judged separately. This was also mentioned a few days ago by Oki & myself regarding the 2 1st entries in this thread but without response from the concerned builders. About the decision to allow or not digital entries, well I do not know for previous challenges but for this one maybe the idea of using an existing frame from a Lego set that was not easy to find for everyone was a constraint that LDD allowed to bypass. -

Will there be 2 categories for voting? (digital creations & bruick built ones) Cause I don't want to sound whining but I say this regarded to LDD entries that are using non-existing parts (again a recent example with the simpson one - just by looking at the arms I see 4 non-existing part/color combo ) -

I guess you should send a reminder to 1st LDD entry's creator so he can correct his post as I see some non-existant part/color combo Anyway, a really fun challenge, I'll post a 2nd entry in a few minutes ^^ -

Hi everyone, Among digital ones, here is my 100% Lego entry for this challenge : the Exo Suit - Castle Edition You can visit the dedicated Flickr album for back view, and opened cockpit mode or click the images for better resolution. Had fun building this one and using Castle parts in an unconventional way - and I wanted to give him a lance as in the old good Castle sets Hope you'll like it -

I posted my entrey, let me know if there is anything wrong with it. Thanks -
Thanks, link fixed I share the same opinion about the blue tribe, don't really like the individual ones and the Max one looks weird to me. But I'm in love with the 2 other tribes
-
Hi everyone, I was glad (and surprised) to see this 2nd wave of Mixels in a supermarket in France (Leclerc for 3,69€ each) even if not yet available at the Lego Shop@Home. Here are some pics of each tribe : And the Max models (that I tried to build looking at the little pic shown at the end of each booklet - should be pretty accurate ). If you need more pics, I made a review in french board BrickPirate here
-
Thanks The bridge is built with some rows of 4 round bricks 1x1 that are on 2 strings : I also used a brick modified to prevent the pirate to fall in the water when I move the MOC ^^
