  1. Just wanted to let you guys know that we've bought some additional orange wedge bricks for this one and I'm ordering a bunch of various orange parts off Bricklink in order to give this one a major rework. Already started on that and it's looking much better, with the idea and basic colour of this structure pretty much the only things that will remain as they are seen here. Hopefully, by the time it's done, it should look much more "finished".
  2. Hats off mate! Your design is outstanding and the way you've managed to fit that one in amongst the other modular sets is absolutely great. Working on a modular MOC ourselves right now, but it'll take a lot of time (& bricks) for one to come close to the level of detail you've managed to achieve with this one. I've also checked out your Antique Store, I do hope we'll be seeing more of these lovely buildings from you... P.S.: Great choice of label too. I mean - who doesn't like Hilfiger!? :D
  3. What a wonderful idea! Looking at this one, I've decided to build a trolleybus for our town and am scouting the net for suitable reference models ;] Thanks ever so much for building such an inspiring MOC!!!
  4. Was looking through classis-town.net and I saw a MOC of mine featured... After that, almost every MOC that got posted on classic-town was linked to EB, so I decided I should set up an account for the two of us, since we'd never been members of a LEGO forum and MOCpages was beginning to feel a bit too much like kindergarten.
  5. Of course not mate :) Sharing our views and finding common ground is really the way forward! @ Basiliscus: 100% with you on that, Pedro! Let's get to building ;]
  6. Ricecracker, wasn't the whole idea of this one to actually build these things and potentially see how they look next to each other? Oh well, I might have gotten it wrong. In any case, I think I'll just wait and see how this whole thing develops...
  7. I believe we already discussed the point regarding digital building and reached the conclusion that this Community Build will be bricks only, with no digital entries accepted. You are, however, more than welcome to make your own digital creations inspired by this project and then share them with us! Regarding Thrash's layout plan - that really is a cool idea, however it only applies to "huge" skyscraper buildings... and pretty much leads this entire project in a whole new direction. If I'm right, you're suggesting that every one of us builds just one floor or even one module of the skyscraper... Which is really a very nice idea, but bearing in mind that a big percentage of the people who are taking part in this community build will not actually be able to meet up, I find this a bit useless - since we'll never be able to actually "construct" the whole thing together. Of course, for the ones of you who can and are planning to go to the same conventions - that is an awesome creation to show off and I'm certain that it would look absolutely breathtaking. For now I think we should work on planning those zones and coming up with a map... We WILL be needing more entries in order to draw up an initial layout plan for the map though.
  8. Since Brickaholic is obviously "taking a break", I thought I'd post an updated list of the buildings which have already been announced for this community build. Hinckley mate, could you please edit Brickaholic's first post so that it includes these - or just put them up in a new thread and lock it up for the time being, along with the rules from Brickaholic's first post. Civic Buildings Courthouse- 16x 32 - Bob The Construction Man - Zone 8 - WIP (?) Jail - 32x32 - Brickaholic - 16x32 - Zone 9 Train Station - 32x32 - AgentRick57 - Zone 1 Public Sector Building (Unnamed) - 48x96 - Basiliscus - 48x96 - Zone ? Firehouse - ??x?? - SeaKing61 - Zone ? Media Building - ??x?? - Caseyref - Zone ? Commercial Buildings Florist Shop - Asya & Bobby Otters - 16x32 - Zone 3 Motorcycle Accessories Store & Bikers Bar - 16x32 (?) - Asya & Bobby Otters - Zone 3 Store (?) - ??x?? - SeaKing61 - Zone ? Industrial Buildings Big Polluting Industrial Area - 48x96 - Aliencat - Zone ? (?) Brewery - 32x32 - Hinckley - Zone ? (?) Auto Mechanic - 32x32 - Hinckley - Zone ? Sausage Factory - ??x?? - Ricecracker - Zone ? Residential Buildings Abandoned Block - ??x?? - Skinny Boy - Zone ? The community build seems to be shaping up nicely despite the question marks - I'm sure those will be dealt with in time. Obviously, I've also used a slightly modified categorization here, which included the new category of "Civic Buildings" - previously divided into "Railways" and "Government" - for Zones 1, 8, 9 and 10. "Industrial Buildings" sounds just about right as a new category to fit Aliencat's upcoming dirty & polluting MOC. Who knows, perhaps we may get more entries for this one once people get inspired by our feline visitor from space... P.S.: Proposed new additions added.
  9. OK, a lil update from us here... Even tho we're not finished with the Bulgarian Renaissance Village project, we've already started planning ahead for the florist using LDD + quite a few sketches. And the result is: 16x16 is too tiny for what we're planning to do. We've tried hard as hell to fit in all the details we wanted to on such a small scale, but it's simply impossible. So we're changing that florist entry of ours to a 16x32 Commercial + Residential structure (2 floors). For now, the motostore shall remain as a 16x32 structure ;] We'll see what comes out of it once we're done planning...
  10. I do hope things will get back to normal for you mate... Don't worry, life has a weird way of sorting itself out, so in the end everything's gotta be OK :] Fortune cookie talk aside, this is a wonderful complex you had been working on there! I would have loved to see some pictures of the interior, especially the florist -- we're building one for the Community Build, so we'd gladly take a page out of your book , even though we're doing it on a much smaller scale.

    MOC: Roller

One word: lovely. I just love to see such small yet intricate MOCs and yours is truly amazing. Well done mate!
  12. Regarding our mate who simply cannot lay off Brickahol, here's what happened in his "Hello" thread: Obviously, he got this whole project started, so I do believe he should take credit for that. I don't know what the guy has done in the past, but he does seem like a nice chap to me. As to the entire Community Build - we have to keep the momentum. At this stage, there's not too much left to clarify and we're almost done with planning. A map is not sorely needed and I think we can do without it for the time being. We have agreed on zones, sidewalks, building height etc.... what more do we need now, before this thing is official? On a side note - I think that Hinckley could fuse the two themes which already exist regarding this project into one (the poll has pretty much fulfilled its purpose) and then we can start a new thread which would remain locked and just be a clear overview of the rules and guidelines for the Community Build with a plan of the zones and a map (if we can come up with one). That thread should also list the participants who have already confirmed they are taking part and their respective buildings. Naturally, it will have to be updated on a regular basis - and once the MOCs have been finished, they will also be put up in that same thread. What do you guys think, wouldn't that make things a bit more clear?
  13. This is starting to sound even more thrilling! Aliencate mate, I can't wait to see what you come up with... Love all your town designs to bits, but this one sounds like it could be your best one yet! P.S.: Oh, and since that parking lot thing obviously won't be a problem - count us in with another structure, which I'll just call the biking spot for now - Zone 3, 16x32 please. However, we'll only start working on that after we're done with the florist, so I hope you guys are not in too much of a hurry...
  14. Lovely car! I remember seeing this one next to your bike ;] In fact, this one got me thinking whether I shouldn't give 5-wide building a try myself... And guess what, I think I'm going to give it a shot some time later on! Thanks for sharing :]
  15. Following your inspiring ideas about the Town Community Build, let me be the first one to say - we do love you already! And that's why we're all so concerned for you and think that you need to lay off the Brickahol mate...
  16. That's a very good point you're making there mate... Especially bearing in mind that last thing I said about the motorcycle store + bar building, which would most probably be max 2 stories high. However it's really hard to actually define those two stories at this moment before actually building it, since the shop might also feature a section with a noticably higher roof in which bikes would be showcased - that is, if I decide that the they will sell bikes as well as accessories & clothing. I do hope this would not be a problem and to be quite honest, I think that smaller buildings (our florist's store and the bikers' spot) would still look realistic no matter how tall/short they're built - but the height of stories could really become an issue with taller buildings. Perhaps we should come up with an additional rule regarding the maximum height of structures, depending on which Zone they're in. I think that would make for a better-looking concept rather than just defining a maximum height of separate stories.
  17. Depending on whether we will have any deadlines associated with this Community Build and how far in time those get stretched, I could also chip in with another Town MOC I've been planning on building - a motorcycle accessory store & bikers' bar (2 businesses in 1 building). I am still unsure as to whether it will be a Zone 2 (16 x 16) or Zone 3 (16 x 32) structure; one thing's for sure though - this one will definitely NOT feature any residential apartments, so I don't believe it will be higher than 2 stories. Furthermore, to accommodate the needs of bikers, I believe I will have to integrate a small parking lot of sorts where a few motorcycles could be parked - would it be OK if the pavement ends halfway and is then substituted by the parking lot? P.S.: Hinckley, thanks for the clarification mate, that's exactly what I had in mind. Good thing to know it's a believable concept on either side of the pond
  18. A question which needs further clarification: what IS meant by "business only" anyway? Is the Green Grocer a "business only" building per se? The reason I'm asking is because I would have liked our florist's store to be situated on the first floor of a 2-story building with the 2nd floor being occupied by some residents (I 've got quite a few plans and ideas about that). Quite frankly, I can't even begin to imagine a 2-story florist's store... So I do think we need to remove the "only" part of the above definition - because at the end of the day most buildings are likely to be meant for dual (commercial + residential) purposes rather than just fall into one specific category. Oh, and 2 story structures could consist of two storys PLUS a garret integrated right under the roof, right?
  19. Thanks :) The pottery in our town will be substantially smaller, however it still does require a potter's wheel and I really thought your design was brilliant! Will let you know once we're done with the project ;]
  20. ...as is the case with most annoying people who would rather be seen covering everyone else's view in an attempt to take yet another crappy & blurry picture/video instead of simply enjoying the show. @ Bob: Believe me, we all hate em!
  21. Annoying would be a more proper description. I could have extended his camera lens even more, but I thought that's just about enough :P Thanks Pedro, the dragon-wing/sword area is supposed to represent the entrance to the arena...
  22. Laaaadiiiiiies aaaaaand gentlemeeeeeen, please give it up for the Master of Knives, our very own faamouuuuus... ...what the...!?! Oh well, obviously this wasn't meant to be yet another regular night in Tobias the Knife Thrower's busy schedule. He'd had a little run-in with his long-time assistant, Ms. Catherine Few-Reas, a few hours ago, but being the professional that he was, Tobias believed that it was all long forgotten by the time he was preparing to come out on stage. Well, guess what, my friends - with the ladies there IS no such thing as "long forgotten". Especially with Ms. Few-Reas, whose revenge is obviously as sweet as can be. And to think that these are just the daggers! The sabres are yet to be taken out of the box... wish you hadn't sharpened these, now don't you, dear Tobias? ...Quite frankly, I don't think there could have been a better way to serve justice. Lady in pink: "Hey, sit down already, you're ruining my view!" Guy in green: "In a minute, madam, I've set my camera settings for auto-extra-gore and the red sensitivity is maxed out... this had better be good!" Lady in pink: "Keep covering my view and I'll start seeing red..." Beach Rescue Guy: "You get ONE night off duty and - surprise - you have to rescue people again. Oh what the heck - this guy is not drowning or being chased by a shark, so I guess I might as well sit back and enjoy the show. Besides, his assistant is looking mighty well - I wonder if she'll be in the mood for dinner afterwards..." Tobias: "Security, get me out of here..." - but it really doesn't look like it's going to work this time. Guess Mr. Thrower is literally at the hands of his assistant here - and he can only hope that she's learnt something from him down the years. Oh yes, and make sure that he NEVER EVER argues with her again - that is, if he survives this. (More pics available @ MOCpages, as usual)
  23. Finally!!! I knew it would look even better in real bricks! A few bucks well spent my friend, you've got yourself a GREAT bike there ;]
  24. In regard to the recently announced Eurobricks Town Community Build we would hereby like to announce the following: All your base are belong to us. Get back on topic guys! Good thing I'm not your moderator
