Awesome!!! And that superb UPS truck is the icing on the cake!
-
We love you CopMike!!! * off to work on our A-game...

Whoa! Talk about being disrespectful! That's death himself man -- and he's enjoying a drumstick!!! Would you rather have him enjoying one of those guys instead?

Does anybody else like Motorcycles around here?

Congratulations man!!! All the best to you and your new bike ;] -
Such designs (and my bikes ) are one of the reasons why I really have to go on BL and look for a store that sells lots of minifig hands in different colours! I'm starting to feel cruel for having to dismembmer my minifigs...
-
Thanks Selander :) I actually meant the outer bricks just below the windshield (acting as doors at the same time), looking at the front I was wondering what that curvy design was, but then I realised it was a curved slope brick :) As to the scale - your work on that really is impressive. I also agree that 6-wide (or max. 7-wide) is the best scale for trucks & large vehicles, and I really think you've done a great job on both. I can't really offer any kind of advice on the Volvo excavator, since I'm hardly into that stuff and I'm not good at Technics either (unfortunately ), but I really like how Milan has kept you on your toes here

on everything! Not just the truck - although it sure is one awesome MOC - the whole arrangement of the scene here is lovely and very detailed. Great job Selander!

Nice review WF :) (Reminds me I still need to finish my review of the 6506 Precinct Cruiser... ) Regarding those wheels utilizing steel elements - I really did love them, and the sound they make! I've got a few of those stashed in my collection and I've just made use of a couple of them!
-
I don't normally read set reviews, but this one caught my attention seeing as it revisits one of those 80s sets I love sooooo much... Thank you for building all the different models available, Widdi - this really is one of the nicest reviews I've read in quite a while. Sure did bring back that "warm fuzzy classic town feeling", as WhiteFang aptly put it once :)

As in, ? It could be an alien alright... one who's gotten very sick from the long flight to Earth

You spooky ghostly man! Halloween's never over for ya, is it Congratulations my friend, this one is a really great MOC - I can only imagine how much fun building it must have been! Your paddle wheel design looks spot on and is an absolute eye-catcher. I also love the funnels - are those tyres I'm seeing on the top? Ingenious & very appropriate!

Hi Andre, congratulations on that great purchase!!! I'm also hoping to get my hands on this set soon, but I'm still searching around... 90 EUR on Bricklink looks a bit too steep to me, especially after having splashed out on so many exclusives recently. Where did you get yours? Btw, if anyone has any ideas where I might be able to find that set at a more normal price, drop me a PM. I'll buy you a beer, promise!

My thoughts precisely. I must admit though, it would have been a bit puke-iffic if it were in 40-wide... (No offence meant but you know me guys, anything over 5-wide can only be classified as a truck in my books ) Nice classic Meerkat truck snapper!! Guess I should get working on an Otter truck, eh

Yeah, for some reason I'd also missed the updates, sorry for that Iz :] That little girl who has her hands on this must be rather happy :) Hope she's learning some real swashbuckling skills! As to C&C - I really like the addition of the marlin. I do however feel that putting it at an angle would have made it look a bit more realistic - as if it were jumping out of the water. You could have used one of various combinations of bricks to achieve that and then you could have hidden those by creating a "splash" out of blue and trans-clear/blue plates. One more thing regarding that first pic - I really like the 3 different shades of blue you've used, it sorta reminds me of the way computer games portray places where the hero can swim and those which are to remain "out of reach"... Having that along the half-sunken treasure is a wonderful idea :) I also love the plank there - I noticed you've made use of my earlier suggestions :) Sure looks appropriate to me - especially in combination with the marlin! For some reason tho, that teacher's reassuring words don't sound too inspiring to me The "charming the wenches" area is another personal favourite of mine (not that I'm a womanizer... me... nooo! Ask my significant Otter!!!). I would have absolutely loved to see some more details there - a few bar stools and something reminiscent of bottles, kegs of rum, etc. You could have made the whole area a bit bigger so that it would also be able to fit those who are learning the ropes of those ever-so-useful-and-popular bar brawling skills! Of course, there are pleny of other piratey and generally useful skills such as cheating, sleeping on the job, lazying around, etc. and there would be no way for any pirate school to encompass each and every one of those! So I'd say this is a really wonderful beginners' school and I would love to see what they teach them in Pirates High School! I reckon that would also be quite a nice present for your aspiring pirate lady

Can I just say that I love what you've done to your bike!! I've (obviously) always been a huge fan of the double round headlamps :] I'll give this a thought and let you know how it's coming together. Mind you, the front end of your bike does resemble the front of a Triumph Rocket III quite a bit, so I hope you won't be too disappointed if I end up doing that too... I'm a Triumph fan, what can I do Thanks for the nice words Commander :] I did actually try out lots of different helms and visors for Anne and eventually I decided that a fiery pattern would be a nice hint as to her nature... The light green/yellow visor was supposed to complement the yellow fiery pattern and besides I wanted her face to still be seen beneath the visor, which is why I didn't use black. But thanks for the hint Thanks Mancoco (you gotta admit it, Eilif has a unique sense of humour :D) Glad all of you guys liked the fifth element here - after all, it was about time that Joe the Rider finally found a companion! Bikes aside, I hope you won't mind if I use some inspiration from your avatar for an upcoming MOC of mine, Macoco :]]] Thanks mate ;) The only problem I have with the new official "sportsbike" mould (apart from it being unified, naturally) is that it's a bit too high and short. Other than that, it's a nice change from the good ol "80s bike", but a man's gotta have some choice, even when it comes to motorcycles in LEGO world, right?

If I were there, I guess I would be Jack, looking for rum Although I'd probably also be more than ready to scrub the deck up on the roof... Welcome to EB, marshal_banana, and thank you for this wonderful entry. Another one which I can easily call an instant favourite of mine. All the details are so well-thought out, it's amazing. And I'm not even talking about the construction, which is quite great looking itself - what I really enjoy here are the small touches such as that soldier having his beer spilled by the monkey, or the hens laying eggs, or the rather improbable duo playing the organ... I could go on for hounrs, but I think you got my drift -- this MOC is perfect mate, don't change one single thing about it! The best part is that somehow you've managed to include tons of details and mini-stories, and yet this one doesn't look too gaudy or too full. It's simply brilliant. I was looking forward to seeing such MOCs in this year's contest, but I never thought they'd be so many and so awesome! A quick suggestion: why don't you add the backstories you've featured on flickr here, as captions below the pics? I think that would be a nice touch ;) Keep on building marshal! Now that we know how you prepare your bananas, we'd like to see more

I was actually quite loooking forward to seeing an update of this, PixelDude... Are you still making one?
-
In the second last pic that pigeon actually really looks perfect. Obviously, it all depends on the angle! Nice little MOC, and the story to go along with it works really nicely ;]
-
Wow, a blog and a frontpage! I'm honoured, WF & Brickster, thanks a mill guys That was a wonderfuly surprise, especially seeing as I hadn't MOCced anything for so long... Thanks mate, great to hear from you again :) I did actually try to make the transition even smoother by using cheese pieces but then I'd have to ditch a few details and that was not an option. Glad you like it! Yup, most definitely! Challenge accepted, what's your pick? I personally was planning on doing a green ZXR 400 next, but would most definitely take on any challenge you might throw my way... In fact, it would be great fun for me! The latter applies to all of you bike fans :) If anyone would like to have their favourite motorcycle built in minifig scale, just gimme a heads up ;]
-
Oh I'm sorry mate, thought they were supposed to go side by side. Now, for a country town gas station, this one looks real nice!
-
Same deal here mate... believe me, I do know what it's like - the Speed Triple is the first MOC I've completed in the last 6 or more months... My downtime beats your downtime Seriously though, good to see you around :) Hope all's well with you!

Glad I could help! I'd actually recommend Svelte, Lithe & Co., although that might sound a bit like a lawyers' firm A lawyers' firm comprising of some very slender colleagues *sorry for the off-topic

Right, why not add to that a rickshaw or something else just for the sake of it... that would leave us with a "Modular" done in City Corner style. I agree 110% with Svelte & Co. here - no vehicles in modulars please. I'd have absolutely no problem with LEGO releasing a nice, detailed minifig-scale vehicle as a Factory or any other kind of separate stand-alone model. In fact I'd most probably end up buying it, since detailed and realistic-looking minifig-scale vehicles are actually few and far between. However, having one of those doesn't have to be at the expense of the quality provided by Modulars - I'd rather end up MOCcing all the vehicles in my town on my own (quite happily!) than having no more spectacular Modulars.

Hey Svelte, this one has been featured on BB! Congrats!!!

Tony, I've always meant to say this -- those guys at Texas State Railroad need to pay you for advertising their railway! As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best viral marketing approaches that I've seen
