  1. Great MOC, awesome presentation, LOVED it
  2. My thoughts exactly. 7993 has some very nice features and is not too expensive, which makes it a top-notch set.
  3. Ah, thanks for the info! Was just curious if it had anything to do with the thread ;]
  4. I only said I didn't like the headlights - the ugly green works juuuuuust fine for me as well ;] And so does the muscular swingarm... you gotta love the attitude that BMW have learned to instill in their bikes! P.S.: Forgive me if this sounds rude or pushy, but I was curious - how did you guys get those motorcycle tags?...
  5. I agree 100% BMW have had some wonderful designs over the last 5 years, but this one is quite a disappointment. The disproportionate look worked well for their streetfighter bike, but not the sportsbike.

    MOC: Hummer H1

    This is 8-wide mate...!!?
  7. I've been looking through this thread for the last half an hour and quite frankly, I'm more than impressed... Having a gift for drawing is one thing, developing it is another thing, but having such a fine eye for detail and caricature adds a whole different dimension to your work, Hound Knight. These truly are some wonderful artworks, I guess you're keeping yourself pretty busy lately, but just in case I thought I'd also put in a request here... Having a sigfig artwork made by you is quite an honour around these parts! :) Obviously, my sigfig is the biker you see in my avatar standing alongside those Triumph motorcycles (although I must admit, my personal favourite is the white one - the Speed Triple :P) - and as to my real self, you can get a good look at my mug if you check out my profile. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck & success in school - that's an area where hard work pays off, so never mind the sigfigs - you can always make those, but you can't always catch up with lessons :] P.S.: And I'm not "putting my name on the list" or anything, because art is not art (and definitely not fun!) when made out of obligation or similar feelings. Hound Knight, I can't stress this enough, you're a true talent mate, keep it up but only as long as it brings you full enjoyment. Cheers!
  8. What a wonderful loc :] Great job Selander! I agree with Milan that it looks a tad bit short compared to the original model, however your clarification on that is right. Blowing it to its actual proportions would probably make it look bad in LEGO world. So I think it's perfect the way it is!
  9. The coordinates point to Fort Worth, Texas. LEGOLAND located there? New shop opening? I heard something about the latter a few weeks ago... too bad I'm an ocean away, otherwise this would have been a wonderful excuse for a lil nice road trip... P.S.: Just noticed that the Unfiction guys have already shared that information...

    MOC: Hummer H1

This is absolutely brilliant! I'm sure lots of people would love to buy those, have you discussed that with your local LUG... To be honest, I don't know if there's a LUG in Serbia, but I tell you mate - this is GREAT!!!
  11. Bananawesome! Is that a banana leaf, by the way? This reminds me - I was planning on stamping all of our MOCs with a logo as well... and I forgot... need to take care of that sometime soon. Nice updates by the way -- good to see that the bathing lady is still there. Loving the marshmallow guy, but he seems a bit lonely - marshmallows are famously delicious when shared in good company with proper stories :) Is he sharing his marshmallows with that suit of armor over there? Or are the captains joining him once they finish their concert
  12. Come on, you know what I meant there, why go into technicalities P.S.: By the way, don't get me wrong - I also loved that Dacta set when I was a kid and I'd just sit there and think what I could turn it into... but I still can't count it as an actual hospital.
  13. Should have said so in the first place! Might I suggest "Rebirth of Roanoke" then? Roanoke Colony was the first settlement to be established by the Englishmen (Sir Raleigh, to be precise) in the New World... They tried to develop it a number of times, but it always ended up deserted with the local pollution presumed either dead or converted by the indigenous tribes, hence its name "The Lost Colony". Giving it a chance of a rebirth would work nicely here, at least for me :) Oh well, if it's a small merchant town, I guess that look would suit it really nicely, great idea. I do however think that those docks look a little too big for a 'small' town... Anyway, can't wait to see more pics! Enjoy your build :)
  14. Hm, this one never did get a rework, did it... Would have enjoyed seeing what you'd come up with to enhance your entry, Ryan. Anyways, best of luck in the contest :)
  15. Brickster mate, that has got to be one of the most enjoyable reviews / articles I've read in a long time And I'm being perfectly honest here, great read! As to the Dacta set - sorry guys, but I wouldn't call that a hospital. A playset perhaps, but anything that lacks four walls and a roof can't be considered a finished structure in my books. For all I know, you might just as well call a Belville house a modular :) Given, 9364 lays the foundations of what could have been a wonderful set, but it stops at that, letting the builder's imagination turn this into the best healthcare facility in LEGOLAND. Or into yet another flop of a hospital - I've seen what happens to most Dacta sets and believe me, kids at kindergarten are hardly concerned about those patients' health...
  16. So wouldn't that mean having the eagle reborn would actually connote preparing for war? Just a thought... Not that I don't like the suggested name, or eagles in general ;) Speaking about that - I also enjoy the light blue elements on her hull and seeing as you've included a light blue stripe on the sides, I'd strongly suggest continuing that onto the stern and bow of the ship. NewRight, coming from that "sailing in the port upon its completion" thing you said, I must ask - whose completion, the port's or the ship's? In any case, I was just wondering - have you considered turning this into a shipyard which is just launching a new flagship? Workers applying finishing works on her hull while the crew are anxiously awaiting for her to finally be ready to sail... Or celebrating her launch while the water from the launch creates a nice tidal wave? Have you considered anything in that sense or would you rather have a regular "ship entering port" scene? If it's the latter, I would suggest adding a lighthouse there. Port lighthouses are usually not too prominent, so it does not have to be a huge structure. It would however liven up the surroundings and add a very unique touch to the whole scene. I'm sorry I can't really help with the ship's name there, but unless we know what it is exactly you have in mind as a backstory, I don't think we can be of much use. Unless of course, you're going to tailor the story to the name, in which case I'd suggest "Rebirth of the Arawak". The Arawak were one of the tribes encountered in the New World, and also one of the first ones to face almost complete extinction. I don't suppose this sounds like a logical choice of name, but it could be seen as an implication of peace between the Spanish invaders and the Arawaks and recognition of the native's culture... especially if it's their ancestral land that the port is built on!
  17. Little stories such as this one are what makes a great MOC actually come to life. Little stories... and rum
  18. What an awesome model Michael! Great job!!! That angled front must have taken quite a while to get right, but the result is really perfect. Looking forward to seeing the trailer
  19. It looks just like the real thing! With perfect playability! Those lights are a wonderful touch... Well done Badsneaker ;)
  20. First entry which actually made me LOL
  21. Quite frankly, I don't see anything ... I've looked through the pictures a number of times and I didn't get a single thing of what's going on there, and I'm afraid that was not just because of the photographs. Photography aside (try to sit still or placing the camera on something firm while taking those shots), I did read your backstory to this one and found it... OK. Pirates and soldiers getting drunk - we've had that a few times in this contest so far. That's why I'd suggest adding something to the story of this MOC, otherwise it just doesn't stand out. Now, the "skull-like formation" in your formation came out of nowhere and ended up playing no part either. Apart from supplying the guys with booze, that is - and that doesn't look like a lot of booze (or a lot of booty, mind you!). If you want to keep that "skull formation", why not add some part for it in this whole scene or at least make it a bit more prominent? Same applies to the booze... If it's hangover island, I'd expect them to be actually floating in rum :) As to the construction - I can't really say I'm digging the island, or the "skull formation" rock. Unfortunately, to me they both look like they're coming out of nowhere - I'd really recommend working a bit on that island so that it starts to look more believable. The perfect rectangular form it has right now is more reminiscent of some kind of base floating on water rather than an island. That said, this could make a nice oil rig platform or any other kind of artificial structure, so you might consider having those sailors lost in time and surfacing on a modern structure - I don't think anyone's done that before for the contest. Just a suggestion... That way you could also avoid having an excuse for the skull, since it doesn't really look too believable either. It just stands there, but it doesn't really look like a rock. As to the figs themselves - kudos for the conga line, that's a thing I really like about this MOC. It looks fun and is a nice idea, well done. Perhaps if you tilted the hat of the first soldier, he'd look a bit more drun... erm, I mean party-minded. As to that old man... that's a weird way to die. Because I can assure you, he looks quite dead or dying to me. Having had a barrel of rum land on his head, now that's death by alcohol! The "native" rat by his side adds a very unnerving necro-feeling, at least for me... So to summarize... I think you've tried to use most of the "typical" pirate pieces you've had at your disposal here. While that's not a bad thing per se, I think that just combining it all is not always the best option. I would strongly suggest modifying your concept a bit - adding something or freshening it up - that way you will have a specific idea which to focus on, instead of just trying to include everyone and everything. Sorry for the rant and excuse me if I sounded too harsh - but I think you can do much better with this one and would love to see it actually develop.
  22. Since when is North Dakota in Iceland? Anyway, I've always heard there's a lot of snow activites to try out in the wintertime in ND and Minnesota and Snocross is extremely popular... Pity I've never been there during the winter, but I was there when the store owners were desperately trying to sell their last bikes for the season while stocking in snowmobiles and snowbikes. Didn't buy anything though
  23. 20 years of freedom... A big Hoorah for "dickes B oben an der Spree" - so wunderbar for 20 years... and counting :) Really wish I could have gone back for a few days just to see the celebrations. Funnily enough, I now get that "Ich bin ein Berliner" line - the spirit of that city lives and breathes within everyone who's had the chance to be a part of it. Thanks for those pics Holodoc :) You really did put a smile on my face!
  24. Those pics' dimensions exceed the limits. And you have to admit it, that MOC has nowt to do with Christmas.
  25. Wow. Wow!!! And once again... WOW. Been looking at this beauty for the last 15 minutes and it's really simply... stunning. Good to know that's what international teamplay amounts to, go European Union!!! On a sidenote -- if THIS doesn't serve as an excuse for the Brothers Brick to finally start blogging stuff other than mechas, spacechips (and cubedudes), I don't know what would.
