  1. "Hmm. Yes, You are mistaken. My devotion to Sylvania knows no bounds. It is the reason for all my actions. I can understand however that you may come to some false conclusions as to my identity due to its veiled nature, but I assure you, I am not a man-made abomination. I apologize for any false conclusions that you may have drawn. "The fruit is not the offspring, though, you see. The offspring is the seed within the fruit which cannot be born without first being digested or otherwise removed from the tree. It is not an evil, but rather, a good to assist in the birthing process of a tree. An apple may, in fact, be more similar to a hair from the head of a man who's hairs grow into other men. Trees are not like humans." Stated Sylph, amused. "Ah, I must have misunderstood your meaning then."
  2. Yeah... They could do the same to gain access to the other two newt items I dropped too. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  3. Yoro's supposed to have the same hair colour too, but I didn't have that hair piece at hand. And he couldn't cast the spell unless Karie turned him into a newt. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  4. "That's... unfortunate." stated Sylph.
  5. "Sylph Solanum. Druid." Spoke Sylph.
  6. "Yes, I am devoted to Sylvania... But I would remind you that while you may be familiar with one branch of her worship, there are many sects and cabals. I'd be interested to learn from whom you learned of 'Sylvania's views on evil.'" Stated Sylph Calmly. He then turned his helm in surprise to face the monk. "What?" he queried in amusement. "You think I am an an ether-made abomination?" The thought seemed nearly funny to the cloaked figure. "hardly. In fact, It's quite the opposite. My philosophy is the result of many years of meditation. Death is a natural process of course. Killing--inflicting death upon another being-- is similarly natural. That is not to say that it is not evil. Evil is as necessary and natural as good, you see, and the two must always be in balance. If there is too much life and not enough death, all of nature suffers. If there is too much death, and not enough life, the same. Your fruit example though, I must contest. The evil act would be to kill the tree. taking an apple is like taking an offering. Trees create fruit to spread themselves. They are designed to be eaten. A fruit, like a finger, never lives." He stated, not bothering to continue discussing Black Knights. "I disagree with your assumption that simply because a creature is your enemy that it does not think and possess the capacity for good. To kill any thinking being is evil. To not kill, or otherwise incapacitate, an enemy bent on causing great evil for no good reason, is similarly evil." "Precisely. You and I have a similar view on this subject, it would seem, Alexandre." OoC: Sleep? What? it's totally OK to go to sleep at 6 AM.
  7. My sentiments exactly. Let's all ignore the modifier now, shall we. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  8. If I say a pun in the discussion thread, does that mean Althior can't use it? ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  9. It helps if you sacrifice puppies. The cuter they look, the more they are shook, and the better their pedigree, the more favour she'll grant to thee! And that's how I got those 6s 3... Yes, I do have a goatee... Yes, I do chuckle evily... ~Insectoid Aristocrat

  11. Mechanics that screw PCs over: Docken's definition of Evil. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  12. "How bizarre." Stated Sylph with a bitter tone. "Well, I suppose it can't be helped." Stated Sylph then, sighingly. "A mayfly lives its whole life in but a month and believes itself to have seen the world when it has not strayed more than a mile from its hatching pond. But young short-lived things do change so easily. That is the difference between a river and a creek."
  13. That may be true... Ah! Yes, that about sums it up. Sylph is power hungry and an expert strategist! I RP a minmaxer! Which is not to say he'd break character to become a punomancer. I'm saving that for my next character, who I may make a minstrel or harlot. And Sylph would never be a Harlot, dispite its powers. Well, at least it mentions walls... and you certainly have three... or at least one heavily fortified one. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  14. "He sounds... close minded... There is enough beauty in this world that if you lived a thousand lives you would not quite grasp a fraction of its majesty, for as vast and varied as the world is, it is constantly shifting, changing, evolving, dying and regrowing from its ashes. Every milisecond a new life erupts into existance, and every milisecond an old one returns to the earth. So long as balance is maintained, this beautiful cycle shall continue indefinitely.... To forgoe one's chance to experience this and take part in it is a concept I find difficult to comprehend."
  15. Sylph agrees with you there, but since he's a character instead of a walking void-of-a-forth-wall, he doesn't recognize that I'm choosing RP over stats! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  16. "Intriguing." Sylph stated. "I concider myself above all a healer. The powers of nature grant those who realize them great skill in that art. If you mean to propose I join you in such an endeavor, I would not be averse. It is my constant quest to obtain enough power to heal the diseases that plague our world. I would do next to anything that can advance me in those regards. Regretfully, I do not pay attention to politics or fame. Who is this 'Great Guffington?' Does he serve a house? At some point I would be interested to obtain enough of a reputation with the Guild of Invision to study their works..."
  17. "Indeed." Stated Sylph simply, no longer interested but maintaining the impression that he cared. "I see you and I define evil differently then. While I view inflicting harm upon others as evil, it would seem you see not helping others as evil. It seems our argument is at an impass. I cannot convince you of my definition, and you cannot convince me of yours." Sylph stated finally. "Am I correct?"
  18. No kiding! Supports/Heals are where it's at! but A. That'd be somewhat OoC for Sylph, and B. I'm planning on ditching him eventually in favour of my next character. Maybe in half a year, maybe in a year and a half. It all depends... ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  19. That's my next character! I will bribe the GMs into dropping plenty of them for me, and then I'll unleash the storm! He's gunna be so fun! I have to get rid of Sylph somehow though. There's no way I can get him to level 50 before I want to stop playing him. Called it! ~Insectoid Aristocat
  20. "There is no difference between murder and killing. There is no universal law apart from the laws of Nature, in which there is no such distinction." Stated Sylph simply. His frustration was lessened. He remembered now why he didn't frequently debate, let-alone converse with others. "Sure they have other options, but the choice they make comes from who they are. A Black Knight's values are merely different than your own. That does not make them evil."
  21. This is going to be a CATastrophe!

  22. Looks like there's going to be a... cat-fight!!! First one to remove one of the other's nine lives wins! ~Insectoid Aristocat
  23. What is this "Mechanics" you speak of. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  24. "Indeed. Had we not killed them, who knows what atrocities they would have enacted on the world. I doubt they would have stopped at people. Such a hate-driven horde could easily have ravaged the planet and thrown its continued existence and ability to support life into turmoil. Sitting idly by as a force extinguishes life is truly evil and corrupt." "Hmmm. Then I see we differ fundamentally. I see each murder as an equally evil act, regardless of cause, but when viewed as part of the grand picture, only then can its worth be evaluated. If the good it caused outweighed the bad, it can be justified, but not regarded as an intrinsically good act. Hiding and roguish behavior is a different matter though. No matter the lengths to which such actions are taken, however, I find the term 'evil' poorly applied. I believe you mean 'selfish' or 'antisocial.' The acts of a black knight, from my understanding, arise from survival instincts. Just as you may pursue the acquisition of armour and stand your ground in a fight, they choose to dodge and protect themselves in other manners. While their self-focused mentality during battle may irritate you, they either cannot think that far ahead and cannot form as powerful a group-focused mentality as you yourself, or justify their actions by using their own survival as a means to benefit the team, by fleeing, or letting a foe better suited to taking a hit receive the blow. I doubt many maliciously decide to betray their allies."
  25. I'd believe that. And the Original Apprentice was merely a servant of the Regret, who is the Dragon of an even greater evil! Snarking hilarious! Catsuit!Karie FTW! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
