  1. Out of curiosity, and in no way related to the events occurring in the Quest I'm in, but can a Druid's nurture remove effects of starvation? I swear, Sylph's not a pacifist. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  2. "I will ask." Stated Sylph. "Birds, My companions will agree to your request on the condition that you aid us in some way. I am against this course of action, but the alternative is your untimely deaths at our hands, so the choice is yours to make." Stated Sylph reluctantly in the language of the birds. This was veering into dark territory.
  3. "from a tactical standpoint, it serves us well to fight fewer enemies at a time. And from a personal standpoint, I do not take pleasure in harming innocents, even when they are in my way. I have, do, and will when I must... but if some of Sylvania's children can be spared... I would prefer that." Sylph stated neutrally. Ooc: this is just Sylph talking. I personally don't care either way. If we fight the birds, we get more loot, probably, but we could just bribe them off if everyone wants to. After all, if Sylph got his way in everything, the only one who'd be having a good time would be Sylph.
  4. This is absolutely wonderful! I adore Japanese architecture, and you really capture the feel of it here! Wonderful! And its size is quite impressive! I love it! The shrine on the interior is my favorite detail! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  5. "I could provide 2 potions as well. I would be reticent about sacrificing my grand potion for this. We may need it later." Sylph stated gravely.
  6. I have it on good accounts that he's been erased from existance... but you never know. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  7. "And then Sylph was like... 'hey, guys... are those scholars all that important? These forest critters are pretty hungry...'" Hehehe. Why can't Sylph ever get hired to kill poachers? ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  8. Sylph gazed upon the wild mob, saddened. All too often, in the process of restoring order to the world was he forced to fight that which he swore to protect. Nature could not be reasoned with. It was a primal force. These animals were responding to unnatural stimuli the only way they knew how. Could he blame them for their poor choice of target, considering everything? No. Would he need to keep the scholars alive to get to the bottom of this horrid situation? Yes. For now, at least. "Thank you for your information, dwellers of the forest. I understand you will not hear my urgings for patience. Hunger does not wait for those who hunt. I understand that you feel these humans are your only source of food. This said, you have chosen poorly. If you strike at the scholars, my companions will strike back, and I will be forced to join them. I do not take pleasure in this, but I will fight you if you do not flee. That is how nature works. The strong survive." Stated Sylph solemnly. "Birds, I will ask my companions if your offer will be met." Sylph turned back to face the party and their new tagalongs. "Something unnatural is afoot. Unfortunately, these animals are starving and intend to eat the humans in white. They have been pushed from their natural homes by Direwolves, who, in turn were pushed by something else. The birds have offered neutrality in the coming fight in exchange for rations... what say you?"
  9. "I see." Stated Sylph, sympathetically. "Fear not, then, noble denizens of the forest. Our crew is here to set right what has gone wrong in the woods!" Sylph vowed, "Where can we find these direwolves and bears, that I might find out what has them spooked?" Sylph hoped his placating tone would help keep the animals calm, and that they would not be incensed to attack Sylph was concerned now. What could possibly be scaring the apex predators of this forest into such drastic behavior?
  10. "You mean to eat these humans then? From whom/what are you fleeing? Are you saying that the Direwolves removed the crops from the fields?" Sylph queried, patient, but worried. This behavior was totally unlike these animals... something nefarious was afoot.
  11. Sylph sensed something wrong as soon as they started down the path, for the local birds sang of removed crops, and the wind lacked the tang of farmland growth it usually carried. When Sylph saw the prematurely harvested plant-life, he breathed a heavy sigh. "What happened here?" He muttered to himself. "could this have to do with the fallen star?" They carried on and soon came upon a bizarre scene, which Sylph quickly assessed. A pair of humans were being chased by... a group of unrelated children of nature!? Ignoring the humans, Sylph rushed to the animal assailants, and words gushed from his mask's mouthholes in the primal language of the beasts . His tone was inquisitive and calming, as he spoke with the animals. "What is the matter, Children of Sylvania, Why do you gather in this way, and chase these people?"
  12. the still living spirit of Regret the Progg. I know he died... or did he? yes. I'm sure he did... unless...

    1. Endgame

      Endgame

He's most certainly dead. Erased from existence, even.

  13. "Good." Grumbled Sylph in a deep baritone. "Then it is decided." Sylph slowly began moving towards the well trodden path to which the boy had directed them. He lingered for the party to follow.
  14. Also, in this circumstance, you could have made the same joke without even role playing for Manny. You could have easily said "'... on one condition.' Warlen said, not waiting for a reply, ,that you...," Or "'...on one condition!' said Warlen, eyes wide with intensity, 'that you...," There are plenty of options aside from RPing for others. I'm sure we've all done it once or twice... especially early on, but once you become more experienced with the RPing style, you realize that it works best if you only RP for your own character and let others provide the reaction. It makes for better, funnier, funner dialogue and gameplay! Also worth noting that this extends to describing the thoughts of others. I can say "Sylph walked up to the boy and tried not to frighten him with his ragged appearance," but I cannot say "Sylph frightened the boy with his appearance despite trying to be friendly." I don't know if the boy is brave or cowardly, or even a boy at all and not just some illusion conjured up by the still-living spirit of Regret the Progg. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  15. I'm never going to give you up. Nor will I ever let you down.

  16. Been a while since I've been around... might be time to play again? 1. I've played one or two... a long time ago... in a galaxy far far away. 2. I still have no life. That hasn't changed. 3. Artisanal Applause Applesauce 4. or 5. Here is my dissertation 6. MEGABLOX! Too late. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  17. Sylph could sense her continued uneasiness. "If you would like to be Party Leader, you certainly may. And should you need assistance from time to time, I could lend my insight to you." His voice was preternaturally calm. Sylph turned to the party at large. "We best be on our way soon then. It sounds like these men in white may add a complication to this otherwise simple quest."
  18. Sylph turned back to face the child, "Find the crashsite, investigate, retrieve the "star" if it is not harmful. Got it. Seems simple enough." He said, in a deliberate fashion. Turning back to the party, the ragged Druid spoke once more."OK. Any volunteers for Party Leader? I've done my fair share before, and could again, but I'm just as content to follow another's direction should someone wish to take point. After my time in the forest I may have forgotten the nuances of the task, afterall." His tone was nonchalant, merely wishing to delegate the decision to the party to decide.
  19. I'm not a strawman. I swear.

  20. The figure beneath the iron helm chuckled. While the sound was intended to be conversational in tone, it came off as somewhat distant. "Ah, yes" he began, "I have been away from the Hall for some time now. I had business to attend to in the Waldurk forest. As a Druid, my allegiance is not solely to this Hall, you see, but rather to Nature herself. It is my sworn duty to protect her in whatever capacity I can. It just so happened that I was needed elsewhere for a few years..." Sylph's voice developed a more raspy note too it. He sounded older now than he did at first. "Nature used to be able to protect itself, you see." His voice was solemn, "Ages upon ages ago... before the dawn of man, or elf, or dwarf, Nature existed in flawless equilibrium. Absolute perfection. But when men came into being they thought only of harnessing Nature's gifts for themselves. Now the state of the world is much different. She needs the constant protection of Wardens, and the nurturing prowess of her Druids to keep her healthy." Sylph's voice returned to its original quality. "but of course this is of little interest to most people. " he chuckled once more. "I have returned to the hall once again to serve Sylvania here. And it looks like I made the right decision. This "fallen star" cannot possibly be natural."
  21. Sylph met the half giant's hand, grasping as much as he could, and gave a hearty shake. Although the witch was clearly the stronger of the two, Sylph's handshake made it clear that there was more beneath the armour than tumbleweed and twigs. "It certainly shall." The cloaked Druid responded, pleasantly, despite the cryptic nature of his reply. Though even the suggestion of a face beneath the iron helm was conceiled, it sounded as though the figure might have been smiling earnestly. "I am called many things, but you may refer to me as Sylph Solanum, a druid by profession and passion."
  22. The cloak-clad figure turned to greet the uneasy Annienal. He extended a metal-gauntlet covered hand in a friendly manor. "Sylph Solanum." a smooth male voice said. Somehow it sounded like a calm stream of cool water, or perhaps a pleasant breeze on an early autumn day. It displayed little of the earlier gruffness, and none of the maternal elements Sylph reserved for the child.
  23. "It's alright," the Druid chuckled patiently, giving no indication as to which moniker he prefered. Sylph listened attentively to the imaginative child's story, already attempting to deduce the truth of the situation. If I'm right about this... he pondered. He had seen similar occurrences in visions and prophecies. Stars falling from the sky... that are not stars. Metal spires reaching to the sky. Deserts of glass. But those were far off prophesies, he reminded himself. This fallen star must be a much more conventional circumstance. But what it forbode, Sylph could not divine. "Thank you child," Sylph stated, stepping out from under the telescope. "This quest is certain to be an important one. I can feel it." The being beneath the iron helm continued, its voice soothing and maternal when directed at the child. Looking around him, he saw more Heroes had arrived. "Ah," he exclaimed in a gruff lower voice. "You have arrived."
