Thought I'd take a crack at this vingette thing...since the little Cthulhu fig I cooked up was kind of drab on his own. They really need little crab LEGO pieces :^D

Ah, now it all makes sense At the time I was getting pretty much all my "unofficial" Bionicle news from Kanohi Power and stopped checking there right before they merged with BZCommunity. But I agree, we're seriously lacking in purple parts. Perhaps with Onepu becoming a Toa and (according to the Piraka minifig-scale fortress image) us getting red, green, black, white, and yellow Toa, we'll get lucky

I was doing some Google image searching tonight when I came across an image of a supposed Toa of Energy named Voriki. I'd never heard of this guy before so I assumed it was something that slipped under my notice when I was just superficially paying attention to the Bionicle story (around the Bohrak-Kal storyline). I searched around a little more and really couldn't find any concrete information on him or his deal...but from the little snips I managed to read, is seems like he was some sort of "red herring" or throwaway character that LEGO tossed up onto the website at one point. So, can anyone fill me in on what the real story behind this guy is?

I think it is. Take a look at the Midgard Serpent, it also appears to be black, but it is the same color as the dragon in reality. Also, the wings are red/green, the only way to change the color on those is by applying a sticker or paint. I must say though, a black and red Fafnir dragon would be nice ;) It's probably just the lighting...I wasn't too terribly concerned with optimal lighting conditions when I snapped the pics, and I didn't run the images through any clean-up software afterwards, so the green dragon and serpent might look black depending on what your monitor is set at and KimT...I feel your pain |-D

All very excelent points, and had I constructed it with a specific purpose in mind I'd have probably done a lot of those things, but as it was I essentially just started building until I came up with something neat looking But as to the drills on the aft end, I've seen quite a few construction machines that have the main tools on the rear...but they also tend to have backward facing control cabins or spinning seats, so you've got me there :D

For those of us who like to display completed LEGO sets by Theme, it often falls to us to try and cram an entire Theme onto a single shelf. Trying to do this...and make it look presentable at the same time...is never easy, but sometimes, when you're done, it can be almost as satisfying as building the models to begin with! So, let's see them! Let's see how you've managed to get all of a certain theme into one display space. What strange contortions and parking configurations have you resorted to to make everything fit? :D As for myself... The first Theme of Alpha Team was simple to fit all together on a shelf. Mission Deep Sea was impossible, but I managed to get the Arctic series all in one place...albeit a little cramped as far as parking goes... Dino Attack seems like a small Theme at first...but once you start trying to get those Dinosaurs in there, it gets kind of cozy. I've cheated a little here in that I haven't mounted the Pteranodon to the wall yet...but I will eventually. Vikings I reserved for a special place on top of the computer cabinet. Mainly because there was no way that fort and that ship were going to fit on the same standard shelf. And just in case you're curious, the catapult is inside the fort...why waste all that nice clear space?

Eh...the Batwing isn't so expensive when you consider it comes with the Joker's helicoptor as well...from what I can tell that's a damn good deal :-D

I finally got some time to sit down and put Ketongu together, and I was quite disappointed by the finished product. His head and torso were nothing more then a hat covering an eyestalk over a spinner launcher...boring... So, I took the torso apart while leaving the arms and legs intact and decided to have a crack at giving him a new head and body with the same pieces. Here's what I got. Now he looks more like a bipedal dino-monster of sorts. His torso is a little thinner, but I think the head makes up for it a little more. The ex-eyestalk has joined another stem to become dual cannons mounted on his back. I really didn't want to give him a Bohrak-style head with that piece, but it was the best way to get it to work with the "bottom jaw" I wanted to give him. The red tabs are passable as eyes, but I'd have preferred clear pieces to use, but there weren't any :P As I noted, the arms and legs are exactly the same as the official model...didn't have any problems with those, and the spinning shield weapon built into his right arm is fun as hell to play with This last pic is just a play-experiment, to see if he could execute some sort of action manuver where he could crouch down and fire his back cannons...works okay I guess. Not the most creative or awe-inspiring modification, but I still like him better now then he was before

When I looked at the claws sticking out of his "mouth" it sort of put me in mind of images I've seen of Cthulhu with the tentacles in that area, so I figured I'd give him a sort of homage name like Cthalgakah...then it was just a matter of giving him a nasty personality and there you have it.

Well hey now let's give him a chance... Hey Dark1...did you see the new Halo LEGO sets as well? Those were supposed to ship in the summer the same time as all those other new sets ;)
