Call me a cynic, but I bet you that the old bootleg thread by itself drove a very decent percentage of site traffic (if not the outright leader at times) and the decision to summarily shutdown the thread without warning had a meaningful impact to the site's traffic. Perhaps that's the olive branch we are enjoying now. It's only anecdotal evidence, but I came to the Bootleg thread primarily (even if it was to browse and see what was the latest and greatest) and then if I had more time I would go into the Licensed Marvel threads. Once the bootleg thread was shutdown I rarely had a thought of coming back. Frankly, if it wasn't a top 3 link I visited throughout the past couple of years, it's definitely in the top 5 I would say. And judging by the number of people who reached out to me via EB, Flickr, etc. there are a TON of lurkers out there even if we don't feel / see their presence.

I've long argued that bootlegs were like a "gateway" product to the real thing (not the other way around) -- which is something that isn't a naturally intuitive conclusion (i.e. the instinctive thought is bootlegs would cannibalize TLG's marketshare). Although we will never have "official" stats, I'd bet that far more consumers of bootleg products end up patronizing the real deal rather than TLG customers abandoning the genuine article for bootlegs. In other words, the total NET new costumers for TLG would be a positive number, and by a wide margin.

Nothing to see here. These are all Marks that have been done (Mark 2 is War Machine). I really wish they would go ahead and give us some Marks which haven't been done like Shades, Casanova, Southpaw... or even a better Blue Steel...

It's quite possible. Although I must say I had that design in mind long before the collection picture was released... Btw, I never noticed that Christo's Ms. Marvel design is from that group pic. In fact, its a shame that TLG hasn't followed through with most of the comic variants in here...

Meh, I'm all about the figs. Of course, having said that, if the set had some decent figs, I'm def. getting it.

Haha! Truth be told, I can't wait for a pad printed version of this as well, I wish they had printed the shoulders, arms and boots, but I can always use the parts from my MOC version. :) I guess it was bound to happen at some point, besides, I would be a total hypocrite if I starting becoming anti-bootlegs now. Because in the end, even though I can argue or make a claim about a particular design, I have no legal right or claim on the character. That's why I have always sided with the bootleggers in instances where customizers were getting bootlegged. Also, I've already spotted my figs / designs (or elements of my designs) or joint customs I have done with Ramon copied by other (non-Chinese) customizers out there (which I won't name) . At any rate, I'm curious if there are any of my other MOCs that are in the bootleg works -- it does make me wonder even more now...

Pretty disappointed with all of these X-Men figs to be honest guys... I usually find a useful piece or here and there, but I'll likely pass on these...

Some useful bits and pieces there. Hopefully they are all printed pieces. I'd also be interested in these, anyone got a link or model / set / fig number?

I'm very happy with any new characters we get, hope that doesn't get overlooked. Simply saying that some of the choices are a bit random.

I also agree that Crimson Dynamo would have been a better choice as a more iconic villian. Detroit Steel is a real head scratcher to me.
