I like the bridge, but I think your choice of minifigures weakens the scene. I'd say either go with all yellows or all fleshies, but mixing the CW Anakin with non-CW Obi-Wan is also a bit jarring. It's best to have figs that all match each other.

That wasn’t a laser blast. Something hit us.
Clone OPatra replied to marshal_banana's topic in Watto's Junkyard
That is truly a superb entry. Not only are the models each great individually, but they're put together an a cool base to create a wonderful display piece. You should be very proud. To everybody saying he should make the square, that isn't necessary as per the rules. Brick-built bases just have to fit on a 32x32 base. I certainly like the MOC very much on its not square base; the black slab is what makes this MOC a cool sculpture. I would advise adding a picture of the MOC on top of a 32x32 baseplate, though, to show that it fits. Really wonderful work! -
Have you decided on your Lions and Dragon Knights navy?
Clone OPatra replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
You bring up an interesting point, that old Castle themes did often have boats, while the newer ones have very few. However, the Dragon Masters didn't have boats I don't think, nor did the Black Knights, so it really goes either way. There actually was at least one more KK2 set with a boat, it involved a hero's barge and a dinky little fortress for Vladek. Somehow, I doubt we're going to see boats in Kingdoms, but it did happen twice in Fantasy so you never know. If they do make boats, I hope they're both smaller and better detailed than the two in Fantasy. The Skeleton Ship was alright, but the Troll Warship was basically a bunch of bare hull pieces with some stuff on them. I'd much rather get smaller, more built up ones like the boats of a long time ago. -
LEGO stop motion animations from TV
Clone OPatra replied to Marckeyh's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Wow, that one channel has a bunch of them. These are fantastic! LEGO certainly cares about putting time and effort in to make stellar animations! -
I'm sure he knows that, but there has only ever been one model of the Cloud Car, and it is long do for a rerelease. I'm sure that if we do get a new Cloud City, it will come with a Cloud Car. That's not something LEGO would leave out.

Well, if you'd checked the first post, you'd know that the price we've heard is 259.99 USD. However, price discussions go in the Star Wars Sets Anyone thread anyway, and not in the rumors thread.

Oh, at first I thought you meant a King Leo desktop! I'll fix that title.

Sindrioskar, Winter's Touch
Clone OPatra replied to Morgan19's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I love all of your figures, and this is no exception. WHat makes your work so good is how clean it is; even though you've painted and heavily modified elements, it's extremely hard to tell that you've cut or messed with anything. It looks so clean! I love the hands, too. They're both ridiculous and menacing at the same time, which evokes a kind of evil feeling often associated with clowns. -
I like the little pyre and the burning but I really think you should make this a small-category entry. Since there is very little going on besides the burning, making it small will increase your chances of success, since other medium entires will have a more-packed baseplate. Alternatively, you could work on the setting a bit more and make it a really awesome clearing in a jungle. Still, the structure is very nice, so you've got a good starting point.

It blew grogall away too a few days ago.

I think that Drawbridge Defense (as well as MMV, of course) is a great choice. As you've said, it comes with 7 minfigures, 3 of which are exclusive to the set or quite rare (Jester), and a bunch more skellies and another crownie are always nice. A skeleton horse is an added bonus. The set also has a nice amount of bley, which is excellent for Castel movs, including some arches, some larger slopes and tall pieces, two of those large castle-battlement pieces, and a bunch of smaller bley bits as well. It's also got two burps, which can come in handy, and a nice array weaponry. All in all, Drawbridge Defense is a set with a great minfigure selection, the official model looks fabulous, and the piece selection is nice too. If you're looking to not spend too much, Drawbridge Defense is a great way to go, and certainly better value than any of the new Kingdoms line.

Christopher Nolan's Inception
Clone OPatra replied to Commander Assassin's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I have mixed feelings about this film. I'm worried that it too will feature a lot of that Chris Nolan thought stuff that just muddles up his movies and makes them annoying by the end, excluding the Batman films, which were finely made and easy to follow. I like a though provoking movie, but both The Prestige and Memento got so muddled up in their "what's really going on in your head" stuff that I was left not enjoying the films all that much. I understood The Prestige, but it just overburdened itself. Memento, on the other hand, I liked almost right up until the end, where it seemed that Chris Nolan really had no idea how to end it so he had to think of something fast. The ending provided could've made sense, but the character had no idea what to believe so neither did I. So, I sincerely hope that Inception won't be too jumbled in mind games. Unfortunately, since it is a movie about going into people's minds, I think getting jumbled is very likely. -
Space Police III MOC: Squidman's Cruiser
Clone OPatra replied to ---Vertea---'s topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Firstly, lovely ship. Who cares if it doesn't fit the Squidman minifig colors, he can ride whatever vehicle he wants! Greebling is a technique to make things look more industrial, machine-like. Common, easy-to-use greeble pieces are the 1x2 grill plate and the cheese grater (as it's come to be called), but also using lots of bits and bobs together can create a greebly effect. Some of the official Star Wars models have greebles, like the UCS Star Destroyer, Millennium Falcon, and Rebel Blockade Runner. -
I really wish I had more than just 3 votes! But, seeing as I can only give out 3… legitimatealex - 1 Sandy - 1 JimButcher - 1 For legitimatealex and Sandy, I really love your creative settings for the figures, thinking up cool town settings. A museum is just such a nice idea for the caveman, and so realistic! And JimBee, I love your neat, clean stage, and the idea of using the emo kid in concert. The flames are a wonderful touch, and really speak "rock concert." Super!

Sorry, that's not the way we operate. Honestly, your thread idea is not a bad one, but you need to make it clear. Humor, just like sarcasm, is hard to read in words on the internet. That's not to say that you can't inject your humor at all, but you just have to make sure that your point is also very clear. Why don't you edit your first post so it's a bit clearer what you want to do, since I can tell that you certainly have a clear idea of it.

Yes, what exactly is the point of this thread? Please do explain, and in the future, remember to be very clear about your purpose when you start a thread. Otherwise, you run the risk of your threads being shut down because they serve no clear purpose.

I love the shot and the lighting, but text doesn't seem as good to me. Perhaps it is the font, and I would also suggest not cutting off the bottom stars. I think maybe the text is just too bright and clean compared to the shadows produced by the harsh spotlight in the picture. Perhaps a different font coloring would also help. I hope these comments are helpful. I truly love your little camera build; it took me several look-overs to tell it was even LEGO!

The funny thing is that you actually got almost the entire thing correct! I certainly had no idea what was going until I saw the commercial. Thanks Cobra for linking to that.

Well, I just came back from the film, and I mainly share the same sentiments as Svelte. I too think LEGO did a pretty good job with sets from the film, even if their descriptions are a little bit different. The Battle of Alamut set makes it look like Alamut is Nizam's palace, and from the film the Battle of Alamut would be an extremely obvious set to include Tamina, but of course LEGO can't include that many big name characters in one set. LEGO's choice of Hassansins in different sets doesn't always make sense either; the one with the silver scar on his face features prominently in the Alamut palace, while the Hassansin that comes with the palace (who LEGO calls Tamah) would be a better fit in the Desert Battle where there are many stock Hassansins. It was nice though that LEGO went to the trouble to model the Hassansins after the actual ones in the film, such as the hatchet guy with the big face-covering. It was also odd that LEGO bothered to make the guy named Asoka, who has very little screen time and in the film seems like just another guy for Dastan to knock out. Not that it isn't nice to get him, but a minfigure of the eldest brother would've been better to get. Of course, LEGO needed somebody for Dastan to fight in the Marketplace set. It is also very nice of LEGO to take the opportunity to give us some camels, since camels are barely used in the film at all. Nobody rides them in the movie, and they get a few seconds of screen time total. Also, what LEGO decides and doesn't decide to make is always odd. They molded those nice weapons for the Hassansins, so why couldn't they give Seso his cool throwing knives? Oh well. Overall this movie generated some lovely, generous LEGO sets.

What race controversy? That it was an anime-style show, but the live action adaption does not feature East Asian actors? How is that a controversy? It's a fantasy movie, and the movie-makers can choose whoever they please to play the characters. Ok, so the Fire Nation seems to be played by Indian actors, but is that a problem? I don't see why just because the source material was drawn in an asian style means the actors have to come from the same place as the art style.

MOC: Shades of Gray Starfighter and Custom Bounty Hunter
Clone OPatra replied to Just Imagine's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Although better pics would do well to show off your lovely starfighter, I can get the gist of it since you do have so many pics, and it really is a nice creation. It's a great riff off of the official Starfighter models, but you've nicely made it your own not only with the color scheme but with the cockpit and Modded tail end, which looks great. Since you'd said in the beginning that you kept the ejector, I wondered what it could possibly be for. The hidden gun function that you used the ejector for is really clever and neat. You should definitely feel proud of your fine MOC. -
While this is some interesting information, if true, this thread is now seeming to go down a dark path. Perhaps sometime we can see some pictures of thing obtained by people who had LEGO shares, but until then, I'm afraid this thread is turning into a "I don't believe you" fest, so to save BobaFett2 the trouble of arguing it out, I'm going to close it down. Thanks for your understanding.

Very nice. I'm not sure what kind of physics experiment somebody would be setting up with so many different types of vehicles, but it's certainly a lovely collision.

Review: 6090 Royal Knight's Castle
Clone OPatra replied to metalandi's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks for filling in the index with these great Castle reviews. I've always wanted an inside look at these castles, and you display it very well. This castle was the last of the true raised-baseplate types. I have King Leo's Castle, but that one just can't compete because the baseplate isn't designed to make a lovely castle like 6090. What's so great about 6090 and some of the other castles you've reviewed is that the baseplate provides wonderful interior space, while still having towers and such to make it a grand castle. People might complain about not having a nice throne room, but all King Leo's Castle was was a throne room! This castle is great, but it's sad that it was the last of its type. Maybe if LEGO makes another castle exclusive geared toward AFOLs (like MMV), they can give us a true raised-baseplate castle in this style. -
Bringing what I think is turning into a price discussion in the Rumor thread to the proper place, the $50 USD for Cad Bane's Speeder as reported in the first post of the Rumors thread doesn't seem too bad. Obviously, for a price range below 400 $40 would be the perfect price, but with all of the lovely minifigures and the excellently designed ship, $50 seems ok too. Certainly much better than the Swamp Speeder. That thing price-wise is the worst!
