Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return
Waterbrick Down posted a topic in The Heroica Archive
Former members of Heroica, walk down the streets of Eubric, their once illustrious hall now barred to them. Slowly a group begins to gather at the Lady Luck's Locale within the Hovels. Trovsty the Ogre bouncer greets each of them, relieving them of their weapons as they enter. "Now don't you go causin' any trouble in there." The atmosphere is seedy, but inclusive. The drinks, while not free are cheap enough to not worry the gold pouch. Some of the patrons sneer as the heroes filter in. "Well, well, well, look at that dour lot. Oh how the mighty have fallen!" The patron of the establishment chides the man. "Now, now, Natnail. Leave the dearies be, as long as they're a paying lot they can stay as long as they wish." The Party: ??? QM Note: Welcome to Quest 159 folks, this will be a little abnormal in terms of quest structure and more free form. Once we've got enough of a quorum in here we'll kick things off proper. Until then feel free to chat and interact with whomever you want. -
"That is indeed grave news, fear not all will be made right." The sound of heavy feet landing outside the hall can be heard. A cold wind blows as the doors swing open to the imposing figure of a women dressed in scarlet. A halberd stained with black blood is swung over the cloaked figure's back and she carries a helm crested with a writhing wyrm. She surveys Heroica Hall. "Apologies my lovelies, got caught up putting down a dragon. Wanderberg, I hope all is in order." "Yes, but your suspicions are confirmed, Yuliana." "Very well then." The woman mounts the stairs and addresses the assembled heroes her gaze stern and unflinching. "I am Yuliana TiamateusIt, the Golden Dragon, and it has come to my attention, that this miserable excuse for Heroica has fallen into the worst of plagues: corruption, infighting, and factions. Now I learn, not only among its members but its leadership as well. You are lead by members of the very families who seek to tear this city apart. Each of them will be dealt with accordingly, however that still leaves you lot. Therefore..." the Golden Dragon pauses, "I am suspending the service of every active member of this organization, you are to leave now. A tribunal will be established in the coming weeks to determine your eligibility based upon the records of your activity within this organization. However until that point you are all banned from Heroica." At this point the Doomsayer returns from the training room and with the Walking Mountain takes his place behind the Golden Dragon. Chosen heroes for Quest 159: An Unexpected Return Any barred member of Heroica

"This so called Wolfgang. Bad enough these houses are tearing this city apart, without a third group mucking things up. Don't know if he was part of 'em before or after he took on leadership."
-
"Would someone care to explain to me why a member of a notorious criminal gang was doing within the ranks of this Hall?"
-
"If any of ya need any trainin' just speak up and we'll get things started. I don't like how some of these so called "classes" are tied to these houses. Seems fishy ta me, but I'll let Yuliana deal with that."
-
The doors to the Training Room burst open as the giant of a man pushes the Copper Fox into the main dining area, the giant's voice thunders. "You are a disgrace. A black stain upon the honor of this very hall. You are no fox and while you claim to be a wolf, you are naught but a treacherous snake!" "I... I..." The giant picks up the veteran by his shirt collar and throws him out the door. "Jack Altraite, I hereby banish you from Heroica!" "Well that went about as well as expected, I sure hope Yuliana gets here soon." The dwarf surveys the hall. "If any of ya are in need of trainin' ya can come see me in the Training Room"

Merry Christmas to all!
-
That's the intention.
-
"Nay, my good man, this is one of those conversations that'll be better to have in private."
-
The larger man's expression turns sad as Germ explains the division between the Crescent Union and the Sungold Alliance. "So... it is as I feared." "Buy it? Duplicate it? No, we have come to determine its fate." "Now, now little one. There will be much to discuss later. If things are as bad as they sound. Much... to discuss." "Come Wanderberg, let us go speak with Mr. Altraite." The two men, make to leave for the Training Room.
-
"And members of this hall have aligned themselves with this, corruption?" "You know the Fey One? Is she aware of what has happened to this hall? It's members? It's leaders? It's legacy?"
-
"And yet I hear tell of these factions within the city, this 'Crescent Union' and 'Sungold Alliance', they do more to tear ones apart than unite." "Then things are worse than I imagined, perhaps my friend and I will seek out this Copper Fox and discern more what is in store for this hall."
-
"The events of the city seem to taint all that they touch, even this hallowed hall. It grieves me that those who lead your group should see it fall into such disgrace." "Aye, so loyalty is the deciding factor is it? But loyalty to what or whom, I wonder. Tell me, how do these veterans of yours ensure they are not swayed by the factions of this city?"
-
"Nay, I meant those in charge of the Hall!" The dwarf seems agitated. "Calm yourself Untergang." The mountain of a man, speaks plainly to Hoke. "You have now heard our names, perhaps you would share yours and your thoughts of this Hall and it's current affairs?"
-
"That still doesn't explain ta me, how one becomes one of these 'veterans', or if ye yerself are one." "I am Wanderberg, and we are here for many things, but first to observe and to discern."
-
"You're curiosity, as you've explained." The large man takes another drink from his tankard. "Be one? Tell me how does that exactly work? Is it by skill, or experience, or influence, or perhaps money?"
-
"Understandable." "Tell me stranger, are ye one of the 'veterans' of this hall?"
-
From his vantage point, Germ can make out the two figures have traveled from a far distance. Their clothes are muddy and somewhat ragged. The larger of the two stands a full head higher than most, almost as tall as an ogre, he carries a great club with him and is enjoying his drink from one of the largest tankards in the hall. The shorter of the pair, after closer inspection is definitely a dwarf, his full beard knotted in intricate designs, and his eyes, while shadowed flash with an intense, almost ethereal energy. The pair of travelers stay seated, but acknowledge Hoke. "Don't get many visitors do ya, aye?" "From the talk around the town, it doesn't seem like many folks are too keen on this Hall at all." The larger man speaks in a quiet voice that betrays his size. "It's too quiet in here."

Another sheet of the Eubric Herald flutters through the doors of Heroica as two cowled figures, one exceedingly large, the other short and stocky enter silently and sit by themselves in a corner of the hall.

Yep sell back price would be 120 Gold.
-
There are no current plans for exchanging Decamon cards or for changing weapon's type/combinations.
-
I'd rule that you're able to sell it as treasure.
-
Nope, new issue.
-
Another page of the latest edition of the Eubric Herald floats in through the door of the hall.

Alternatively, you could find someone with a level-up mushroom.
