  1. Skrall shouldered his bow and drew his Hunter's Crossbow, unloading a round at the Silken Savior from the back row. "Kind of hard to see reason when ya keep talkin' in riddles." "Aazy, hold back. Daske, ya might as well join the rest of us in takin' care of this elf, just keep yer distance."
  2. "Sod, I'll take care of it." Skrall watched as the Party's enemies shifted their nature, somehow becoming more intangible. "Thalion, that broomstick of yers isn't gonna do any good." Seeing the Dragoon and her Dragon struggling, Skrall changed tactics, "Aazy, hold off El-Alquist just keep yer distance. Daske, I need ya to get Nerwen up with yer Phoenix Essence from the back. Someone hold off that crazy elf." Skrall holstered his crossbow and notched an arrow on his Composite Bow taking aim at Eludio Vuentei from the back row. Battle Order: Daske Boomingham Skrall Grishnod Tra-Serral Aazy Nerwen Olmystr Thalion
  3. Skrall smoothly took aim as the ghostly apparitions approached, firing off a bolt at the Spirit of El-Alquist from the back row. "Daske, you and Aazy, should keep our friendly neighborhood necromancer company." The dragoon and her companion squared off against the Silken Savior from the back row readying themselves to strike in perfect harmony.
  4. "I have a feelin' ol' spooky pants isn't gonna try that hard not to kill 'im, Nerwen."
  5. Can I just say how much I am enjoying the current back and forth in 147, the Heroes sticking it in Charon's face is priceless. There are times to call BS and this is it.
  6. "Nay, I've had it to about hear with all this chattin' and gettin' no where. Care fer a weapon?" Skrall stood beside Grishnod and drew his Unlucky Crossbow addressing the assassin. "All part of the job."
  7. "Fer a time? Mind tellin' us when that finishes up and exactly who this favor is fer?" Skrall kept his hands off of his weapons for the time being.
  8. Skrall shielded his eyes at the explosion of color and chaos. "Strange ya get left babysittin' as opposed to doin' real assassin's work."
  9. Just as an encouragement to prospective QM's, stealing from one person is plagiarism, stealing from many is research. There are plenty of fully written good quests on the interwebs that have been created for a host of different RPG systems, all they need is a few tweaks. Don't feel pressured to come up with everything all on your own.
  10. Skrall smirked, "Well ya know we're goin' have to investigate them now." The ogre spread a deadly venom onto his Unlucky Crossbow. "I'm ready when the rest of ya are."
  11. "If we let you go, you'll simply continue after Gor, no? A contract's a contract after all."
  12. As one of the "Old Guard", if you want the rest of the players-who-aren't-on-your-quest/QM's to love you, do not offer effect upgrades. Not only does this tend to lead towards customized "super weapons" and away from finding cool loot that can become signature items, it also makes balancing that more difficult from a balance perspective when other QM's are having to deal with the player later on down the road. I'd encourage first time QM's to stay away from offering customizing services, focus on your story and making a good quest in general before throwing that sort of stuff in. If you really want to add unique things in, come up with items that will be memorable for the player. Each of Skrall's weapons are important to him not because he designed each one specifically, but because they're hold over's from previous quests, they have history and that is what gives them meaning in his eyes.
  13. "I believe they were tasked with takin' out General Gor, Thalion." Skrall turned back to the blue assassin. "I recall the business with Posco and if yer client is as wealthy as ya say he is, then I'm sure ya know there's no way we could pay ya off. Which only leaves us with one option, doesn't it..."
  14. Skrall joined in with Nerwen, "That it does, Alzar. We are men of action, we do what we are paid to do. The more your work with us, the more we can work with you."
  15. Skrall scratched his head at the assassin's introduction. "Didn't we meet before, halfling business down under Eubric Freeport?" "Nerwen and I can help get these two back to base," Skrall glanced at Boomingham and Thalion, "Would either of ya be useful in diplomatically calming things down here?"
  16. You mean heroes as NPC's? If so I'd tend to ask permission first, especially if they're still active on Eurobricks.
  17. I disagree, if we look at your two categories, I'd argue we get the following split on overarching traits:Careless: Terry Warlen (Though he has transitioned more to stoic) Power Hungry: Calamity Arthur (Though he began focused more upon friendship) Althior (Though I'd argue he grew into this naturally as opposed to being defined by it) Other: Heckz (Vainity) En Sabah Nur (Fun/Trickery) Ezeran (Freindship) Namyrra (Comradery) Purpearl (Knowledge) Siercon (Enlightenment/Trickery) Thalion (Understanding) Even in all of these we have a diverse set of backgrounds that these characters come from, as opposed to Barbarians and Rangers who it's very difficult to avoid the "I grew up in the wilderness fending for myself," or "my tribe sent me out to adventure and discover myself." I'd say for Heroica RPG at least, the Clerics and the Wizards seem to be the most diverse.
  18. Barbarians and rangers. It's hard to get away from the uncivilized, outlander, nature loving stereotypes. We've had a few gems of unique barbarians, Kheyli, Quintessa, Miderun, though strangely enough I don't think we've really had any truely doltish barbarians, they all tend to be really intelligent in the end: Eric, Avalanche, Blizzard, Alf, Tesni, Kheliim. I think the closest we ever had to a slow barbarian was perhaps Gorg from way back when. On the topic of rangers, I don't think we've had anyone outside of Matthias, Jeaux, Mhinak start as a non-nature loving bowman.
  19. Skrall moves to D2 to detains Vendrick. "'Scuse me sir, but I can't say I've heard of these Storm Drakes an' I've traveled extensively throughout Northern Kingdoms. I'm gonna need ya to stay here." Daske and Aazy hold their positions.
  20. Daske and Aazy moved forward to detain Tarvalk. "Apologies, clanleader Tarvalk but we need to keep you for a moment while things sort themselves out, we believe your life may be in danger." Across the hall Skrall moved to F3 and checked his spyglass one final time, he was pretty sure he had pinned down one of the assassins, but he needed to check.
  21. Most people approach RPG's wanting to tell the story of where their character has been. When they finally tell that story they often have a hard time finding motivation to continue playing the character. In an RPG motivation and personality is often more important than backstory. Yes it can be useful to know where your character came from but if that doesn't influence what he does now and why he does what he does, then the character is better served in a short story as opposed to an RPG. This thread is filled with conversations concerning how to develop a character (I'd highly recommend reading it if you have the time). For the meantime I'd try and answer these questions for Timothy:Describe Timothy in five words Why is Timothy like this? As a cleric how is Timothy affected by his deity? What are Timothy's flaws? What are Timothy's strengths? What/who is/are important in Timothy's life? What is the motto of Timothy's life? What does Timothy believe in? What does Timothy despise? What does Timothy admire? What are Timothy's feelings on authority? Love? Freedom?
  22. What do you mean by boring and what were you hoping to get out of him?
  23. Seeing that the coast was clear, Skrall headed back down the wall to H7 checking his spyglass when he arrived. "Daske, if Aazy is alright ya two better go see about helpin' Olmstyr over there." Daske and Aazy move to D8 and D7 respectively.
  24. OoC: I don't think Olmstyr and Boomingham can be in the same spot. "Someone should probably keep an eye on that door," Skrall points in Grishnod's direction.
  25. I could also do something like this. Something particularly wrong with the CMF Faun's legs? Also face wise, what were you picturing? I think Timothy's got a pretty respectable look about him currently, so I'm not sure what you'd like to improve.
