You guys make some valid points, as always. I get bored and gloomy sometimes (which is when I most drift towards Bionicle's darker themes). BUT, I have to admit that it is very addicting to build with the HF system.

Heroes 1.0, 2.0 (new build fire rescue), 3.0 (Animals), Breakout (Cops and Robbers), Brain Attack ( Alien Invasion/Monsters) Next? See most people who post here are not going to care as much...because so many of us MOC. although, I've gotten a bit tired of the skeleton with plate armor in mostly the same colors. I've been doing a lot more with Bionicls these last few days. That's the thing. I'm starting to feel the monotony of the new system and perhaps its limitations. Creatively, I'm not sure it can stand on its own (Although it mixes very very solidly with Bionicle). I have enjoyed building Laval and Gorzan from Chima (as intended even). But, not just HF...BUT the Ultra build system in general? What's it look like to you guys? Personally, I'm starting to wonder if all the cries to bring back Bionicle are so invalid? Bionicle incredible variety and complexity in story and building. HF AND Ultrabuiolds seem to be lacking, and to me, suffering for the lack of both? But, what do you guys think?

Legends of Chima 2013 (Action Figures)
pocketmego replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action Figures
So, I know these just came out. But, any talk of a wave 2? I am not a Chima fan. The show was unwatchable for me when I realized Laval and Kragger's voices made me want to shove screwdrivers in my ears. But, I like the Ultra builds. Who could they even make that wouldn't be a clone figure? Besides the skunk and fox? -
First, epic music in the slideshow. Consider me subbed. I also need to say, that I can't stand surge. The fact that you finally made that mask look so good on such a great build says everything about your ability. And yeah, unfortunately the upside down mask of time doesn't look awful...just not great.

BINGO! The truth is I don't one single built AS INTENDED HF figure currently on my table. But, some have more value as sets to me than others. Rocka is worthless to me as I am not needing over sized torsos, gold armor, or technic pieces. But, Stormer and Frosty are chock full of nice, usable, delicious, parts. :D

There is nothing about this Moc I don't like. From the slender design to the colors. This is so cool.

Legends of Chima 2013 (Action Figures)
pocketmego replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Interesting, that's the case on the West bank too, Spider. Spot any wave 2 brain Attack out that way? -
For me Evo , Stormer, and Frost Beast are must gets, Aquagon and Dragon Bolt are bags of parts, and Jet Rocka , is a total pass. Especially with the TON of gold parts available with LAVAL.

Been wanting to do this since I first heard about Gorzan... Movie...

Once again, no backstory, but I wanted to get away from typical humanoid. This is... DIONICLE
-
Thanks. Nothing I build is going to be super complex, yet. I'm just not there. So now, I'm sharpening aesthetics.

His name is Wulf Spider, I didn't really come up with a background or anything for him. I think its a good MOC, but its leaving me kind of flat for some reason. http://www.brickshel...0515_204708.jpg http://www.brickshel...0515_204738.jpg http://www.brickshel...0515_204803.jpg http://www.brickshel...0515_204815.jpg

This is the earliest example I've seen of the Constraction Figure. And much like Block Building ancestors, the idea is there...but the execution really isn't. Clearly, other examples of this concept of the build it yourself toy soldier and Action Figure are out there. Micronauts immediately come to mind. But, this is the most blatant example of a figure sold in pieces and then assembled by the buyer. Any other examples of this kind of thing preceeding Throwbots etc... The Japanese were doing some interesting things with snap on armor pieces and the like years before Bionicle, the most famous example I can think of would be Gundam Model Kits.

MOC - Hero Factory - TOA Factory: BRIAN KOPAKA
pocketmego replied to pocketmego's topic in LEGO Action Figures
If they would do a Blue or white shield, I'd use it. Of course it would be the same flat, unfortunate, blank Captain America shield we've been getting. -
MOC - Hero Factory - TOA Factory: VANESSA GALI
pocketmego replied to pocketmego's topic in LEGO Action Figures
And that is pretty much always an issue, -
Great designs and I dig that hammer. You have a brilliantly technical mind.

MOC - Hero Factory - TOA Factory: BARRY O'NUA

I like what you did there. It's a fun idea and would be GREAT for a special anniversary set or something. Shame TLG is really unlikely to ever do anything like that. -
The De-Evolution of Lego Action Figure Packaging
pocketmego replied to pocketmego's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I guess, I am the minority on this one. I suppose the story aspect isn't needed anymore and storing the bags is easier. I do find it amusing to ponder what 6 TOA washed up on shore in plastic bags would have looked like. LOL -
LAZY MOC Hero Factory - NIGIS The Brilliant
pocketmego replied to pocketmego's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I have to say that I am so impressed with your work, that any advice you give (such as the above) is LAW as far as I am concerned. Thanks for looking in on my stuff, bro. -
Thanks. But, yeah, it seems TLG went out of their way to move away from "Toa Shades" of colors for the most part. You really feel the lack of Brown, but the you REALLY don't notice until you're dealing with say Lewa Green.

MOC - Hero Factory - TOA Factory: LIAM POHATU
pocketmego replied to pocketmego's topic in LEGO Action Figures
That's the only problem I couldn't solve. The problem is proportion, any changes, even removing the friction studs in his knees, and the whole thing looses its natural "Pohatu" look. -
MOC - Hero Factory - Makuhero Citizen: CLANCY GRILLS
pocketmego replied to pocketmego's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Thanks, man. Like his Bio says, Clancy's signature dish is Pyrox Face...the BEST in the galaxy. :D i suppose you guys are right. Be nice to be able to get ZIB as a Lego Club exclusive or something... -
LAZY MOC Hero Factory - NIGIS The Brilliant
pocketmego replied to pocketmego's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Actually this character was the original intended model. That's why it was such a lazy MOC. I knew exactly what parts I had originally planned to use. But, I fell into a classic artist trap... I got too interested in experimenting to see if I could mount that troll face to the chest that the whole thing evolved around it. This proves that if I had stuck with my original idea, it would have been a better model from the start. -
MOC - Hero Factory - Makuhero Citizen: CLANCY GRILLS
pocketmego replied to pocketmego's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Backwards NEX Breakout. He "donated" most of the parts. I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen any citizen type figures in this line. Bionicle gave us like a thousand matoran. -
