You used "there" instead of "their." -
Would you rather gouge your own eyes out with a rusty spoon than see another Friends topic in the Town Forum?? If so, check out these excellent Non-Friends creations posted recently: (And don't be so hard on Friends. They're not that pink) Pet Shop Block by cimddwc Modular Neighborhood by BlueBard The Sleepy Oak by tiberium_blue

Help where town? -
All right, all right, I'm here. Welcome back to the hobby, Tim. Thanks for not banning me in 2000 when I was extra annoying on your site...

Bosomy? They're completely flat-chested. I do love how she's completely ignoring the invention workshop and the female doctor at the vet. I hope people who think about signing her ... petition ... will actually look at the product before listening to this ill-informed activist.

I feel so betrayed! It's still an incredible build.

Oh my God, you're a color encyclodpedia!
-
I knew someone would catch that eventually and I assumed it would be you. Yes, the new color (is it new?) is not in the Azure family. I had seen an add highlighting the new colors and different shades of Azure just stuck in my head. Embarassingly enough, I work with LEGO for a living and have several easy references for the color differences. I was just being super lazy.

Thanks for understanding. I think it would really sweep the voting too. It's beautiful and people tend to vote for the bigger builds, especially one so detailed and unique. That's one of the reasons for the rule in the first place, to keep a level playing field.

Although this is one of the more beautiful creations I've seen, this would not qualify for the contest. Sorry. It is definitely out of the Winter Village scale. It looks like you anticipated that, which makes me feel a little better. I'm very sorry, anyway, that you can't enter with this entry. Please feel free to build a Winter Village scale version or other entry! You have until the 30th. And thank you for sharing your amazing creation with us.

It's a new line. The abundance of topics will die down and even out eventually. Try not to lose any sleep over it.

The female in the top picture is a custom fig designed by me. The fig in the second pic is a combo of many themes. The legs are the mummy from the original Adventurers line, the torso is from the original Gungan Patrol set, the tattooed arms arm from the Gladiator in Series 5 and the head is from Aquanauts or some weird theme like that. They are all characters from Mafia games I have hosted here in the gaming forum.

Thank you! Apologies for the bit of rantiness. It's in direct response to some of the major rants I've been reading on blogs, Flickr and even op-ed columns in the NY times. Get over it people. Keep things in perspective. If you can get over the couple tiny rants, it is mostly a review though.

You've certainly been given ample feedback to learn from... -
I have to buy a lot more sets...

Thank you! As Fugazi pointed out, the copyright on the mini-dolls is 2009. They worked on this line for a long time and I know the designers market test these products, with real children even! They must have extreme confidence in their marketing because waves 1 and 2 have a lot of sets in them. One thing I will add is that when I went to the park to buy this set yesterday, the girls were very excited about it. It's nothing to go to the shop and hear boys flipping out about what's on the shelves, but it was a noticeable different that the girls were excited too.

I think they're only at Target and TRU right now...and LEGO brand retail and SAH too. Thanks for the compliments and the feedback. After following the goofy controversy over this toy, it's refreshing to hear feedback from someone who actually interacted with a child with this toy. When I asked my niece about it I just gave here the catalog and asked her which sets she liked. After falling in love with the bear and the pterodactyl, she turned the page and saw the Heartlake vet and about freaked out! She didn't like the beauty shop, but she wanted to perform surgery on the pterodactyl. She was also the one who pointed out that the convertible was cooler than the other City cars. She also wanted the Robie house and the lighthouse. My sister was a little put off that the line used "girly" colors, but she backed off when she saw they weren't overly pink. She doesn't like "girly" toys but doesn't force her daughter to play with toys only she would choose. She allows her daughter free will...imagine.

Does Natalie Portman have orange eyes? Me too. I just wanted a complete third wall and maybe a roof too. Meh. Decent, as usual. They're certainly sturdy. Since we haven't seen some of the molds produced by Billund, there's no way to tell if they're not as good. With the collectible minifig line, the minifig legs and torsos have been lower quality. With these new pieces, there's nothing to compare them too. I will say that the sheen on the dolls is just as glossy as on regular minifigs. The new utensils seem high quality as well. There is a line on the box that says the pieces are made in Mexico, Czech Republic, Denmark and China, so who knows what parts are made where anymore. Brilliant! But there is a machine shop: But, I agree there should be some more sports-oriented sets. A basketball court? Tennis? ... Wrestling? And I'm surprised how many people still have that article accessible in their brains. Yes, Fabuland and soap operas have always gone hand in hand from a very young age. Thanks for the feedback!

Me sowwy...

Thanks! I suspect the "character" lacks in boys' town because the focus is more on vehicles. A set like the harbor set will do better because the focus is on the ship and the function of the crane while the building can just be a character-less box. Girls probably put more value on aesthetics than the badass function of a snake-mech or lizard wrecking ball. However, wave two of Friends seems to have quite a few vehicles and an airplane. I'd love to see more detailed buildings with more character in regular City sets. The Forest police sets are all right. The headquarters is actually a-symmetrical!

Hey, don't stereotype me. Didn't you get the moral of the comic? (And check it again. I entered the URL of the last frame wrong and fixed it after you read it. )
