  1. HE does come with the hook and a peg leg which are excellent Pirte accesories. He also has the Bi-Corner hat. So he is a good one to have for those pieces.
  2. The battle pack thread showed the old minifg packs and got me thinking how many Redbeards I have. Wondered if you all have the same issue, more Redbeards than any other one pirate type. I have 11 or 12.
  3. Don't you guys love how no matter which old minifig pack you bought you always ended up with Redbeard. The other pirate and soldiers changed but always Redbeard. I had/have all three and so I have lots of Redbeards.
  4. None of them must be good with swords, they have all lost an eye, hand and leg, either swordmanship or sailing.
  5. Tied it up 14-14. I vote Brickbeard. He looks meaner than Redbeard and by his dress his is wealthier than Ironhook. "By some decent clothes you poor sop," both Captains to Ironhook.
  6. Back in the day, Golden age of Piracy, there were many pirate vessels and thence many Pirate Captains. Blackbeard, Calico Jack Rackham, Captain Kidd, Stede Bonnet, Black Sam Ballamy, Black Bart, etc, many captains. Those are the few we know about. There can be more than one. There does not need to be One mightiest Captain of the all. I have Five vessels and so five Captains. Ironhook did not replace, by any means, Redbeards and now we have a second well dressed Captain. They could even work together to give the soldiers a run for their money. As it is I have like 10 Redbeards adn 3 Brickbeards and two Ironhooks, so it is not like they are replacable anyhow(in my story).
  7. So the Vikings might be in another time and place altogether? I think this is way to cool now. I love the bard "oral tradition" idea and all the missing details. I can't wait to see what is next.
  8. The Indy Savages look so cool and it will be great if we get some of those with pirates in the future but I will be so sad for my yellow islander. They will be so self conscience next to their tan brothers. The Cross is so simple and so awesome.
  9. The captains cabin is also.. so... .there. Other than making The Cabin a row or two shorter maybe you could add some slope bricks in front of the cabin so the ship flows into the cabin. The cabin's front is so square it sticks straight up and loks a little strange. And some stairs or ropes to get on top of cabin...unless the is some interdimensional porthole in the cabin that lifts the crew onto the upper deck. Otherwise it looks great for a first.
  10. I would like to see all of them, but in a timely matter. Maybe two batches each with pirates mixed in, of course. Do another batch of redcoats, then two batches of blue coats. Islanders can sort of be mixed in there. Some Armada guys too. Each should get some sort of fort, ship and other little sets too. I think they should each get their our row boat color. The dark blue boats and the redcoats are a terrific combo. If they do five sets each release first being what we have the next batch can be Redcoat ship and some smaller mixing of Pirate and Redcoats. Then a few different pirate torso, maybe the same desgin but different colors and blue coats with Bluecoat ship. Why not have two of those sets in these batches have Islanders in them, fighting both Pirates and military. Then in two years we can get two batches of Armada. Every batch will have a ship of sorts, size will vary and what side of the conflict will vary. Maybe we can finally get a big Military ship. The pirate ships have generally been larger than the Military ships. Maybe the Blucoats could have little island sets like the old Sabre Island , Broadsides Brig and the like, and a Ship of corse. In my Lego room there are so many pirates all the "Countries" have to Unite to have a big enough Force to threaten the pirates anyway. The more the merrier. ramble ramble....
  11. Perhaps I am an idiot, but I can not arrange the palm next to the tower, the leafage hits the tower. What are you guys doing different? Are you switching palm out for old adjutable style tree? As for my arrangement it is Shack ,palm, jail and tower.
  12. Yeah, nicely done. The colors scheme is great. I love your cabins, the back end looks terrific. Keep us posted on progress.
  13. A big spanish style fort or building would be very cool.
  14. I did not know that torso was a Prussian or a German, I always thought he was the cabin boy. Seemed like a kid to me.
  15. I also think Impulses and battle pasks are totally seperate ideas in the eyes of the business end of things. The idea for Impulse sets are up near the cash register or spread out in onbvious places and when you check out you buy an extra cheap Pirate or soldier on top of what you are buying already, impulsively, hence impulse set. They really are not great on their own, you can not build anything with it. Battle packs are more like a small set. They would be on the shelf in the Lego section by the other sets. By itsefl it can be very fun for a kid and it is bought like a set not impulsively. In conclusion, we could get both, impulses to add one minifig at a time that we grab as we check out and also minifig packs in the Lego section with a few figs and a small build to make our set collection grow. As collectors we will buy both anyway, to parents with kids it is a whole different story.
  16. This is amazing. I have a question about the story though. Is the first Moc in the series the entrance to the cave with all the treasure and this is just part of that cave or is the tresure spread throughout many caves? The first installment had what looks like the Stone treasure cart described in the "legend" and I assumed the treasure too. Was that cave on one side of the waterfall not easily connected to the big Lodge with the broken table, Or is this just another cave? I really like how the tower worked out with those wedge pieces. The whole thing is great. It is nice to get a fun story too, it seems stories don't happen as often as they should with out Mocs. There are so many great builds that tell stories but a few words add so much.
  17. It would hardly be a RETURN since they were barely here in the first place. There was what, like 3 sets to begin with. I would definitely love more, my Flagship is in need of some more mates.
  18. I am guessing TLG wants to use the new soldiers a while longer before the Armada returns. I would like to see more Armada though eventually. I think they will give us another few releases with Soldiers for now.
  19. I think the pirates need nicknames too like Skinny Pete, Lefty Lassie, Rat's nest, the Dane. Stuff like Boot strap Bill, not his name but cooler sounding than Bill Turner. They don't need to make sense. The green stripe shirt guy can be Happy, and he personality is surly and mean so it is ironic. Etc
  20. Here is my two cents, the Soldier Implulse is perfect. I say leave it be. The pirate side could use some work. Why do we need multiples of the same pirate? Well, we dont but little kids can buy it and be stoked. I remember getting minifig packs back in 92 and I was excited. I still have all the Captain Red Beards, or whatever his name is, I got then and can't really justify using all 10 of them in all my Mocs combined. They are not generic enough. Most of us buy all the sets anyway and end up with a lot of similar guys. The old minifg pack had a few soldiers and a few pirates, all we really want are more soldiers isn't it? A few extra pirtes to fill in small gaps is all we need, not three for every two Soldier we add. I like the impulse sets the way they are. My only thought would be have two pirate impulses and one soldier so we can get a least some pirate variety.
  21. I was a little curious how it was from looking at pix, but now that I have one I really like it. I can't wait to see what you guys all build on it. I have only seen one pic on the net so far of anyone building with it. Do you all like it or dislike it?
  22. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3648020 A picture of my custom Pirates from some time ago. I mostly just change colors on existing clothing choices. The female Captain is an original. In my pirate world there are only two tailors so everyone wears a variety of the same thing, a Pirate coat like the Captains or a stripe tank top like all the rest., and a few more things.
