  1. We're not 'pretty much done with TFA sets'. TFA will continue to be mined for kits/figures just as Episode VIII and IX will in the decade to come. Lego Star Wars doesn't function like Super Heroes with a handful of kits for a movie and then nothing.
  2. Eh, the less Rebels-ifying they do the better. The Stormies never should have been Gooftroopers in the first place, we could have had a good army builder otherwise. Am glad that we know have EpIV and EpVI torso variants of Vader with the new helmet though.
  3. Polybags, definitely. UCS set stock will vary wildly from store to store. Best to go on the 30th or 1st though, to be safe.
  4. Based on how the first TFA wave was almost entirely trailer-based, I'd reckon we can expect on the minifigure front: -Jyn Erso (Rebel outfit) -Jyn Erso (Imperial gear) -Mon Mothma -Forest Whitaker's character -Ben Mendelsohn's presumably ISB character -Shadowtrooper -Some manner of camo-trooper as seen running through the base -Diego Luna's Rebel character -Donnie Yen's Stick character -Jiang Wen's dreadlock Rebel character -Rebel Fleet Troopers -Rebel Pilots -Standard Stormies
  5. Well at least it now is screen-accurate, unlike the First Order General. I'll swipe a pauldron from another FO troop and put it on this guy. "Stormtrooper Heavy Officer" I guess is what he effectively is.
  6. Still pretty old in terms of Lego face designs - that was the period they had just begun doing slightly more detailed faces, stuff now has a lot more detail than that, so I'd hope for a new faceprint for any Rebel Fleet Trooper coming out.
  7. Has to be a placeholder - that's the old style of Rebel face.
  8. Just2Good/CM4SCI, are you sure that the Hammerhead is a in-house property? Because the figures scream Aftermath (battle droid Mr Bones, the Wexley mom and child).
  9. This is the Encounter on Jakku I hope for as well. It would be the most useful in terms of figures.
  10. The Rebels Stormies are drastically different- they have an ugly exaggerated Frowny Face to reflect the goofy way they are portrayed in the animation. This makes them useless as army builders. The only "True Stormtrooper" comes in the Slave I, the ISD, and the 2015 Advent Calendar. Odds are January 2017 will bring us a Rogue One battlepack with at least one normal Stormie in there. But for folks who want to expand their army now, Brasso modification of the EA troopers is the best foot forward. Many have discussed and speculated on this modification process, but Mr. Chupacabra is the first to actually post the step-by-step Brasso cleanup procedure in detail.
  11. He is just speculating that the Carbon Chamber will have add-on kits in subsequent waves like Jabba's Palace and the Rancor Pit. Pure speculation.
  12. Mentioned this over in the CMF thread but it was worth reiterating here. The new Sinister Knight for CMF s15 is a godsend for Middle-earth fans. Lose the morningstar, shield, and head/helmet - the torso and legs are surprisingly perfect for a missing armybuilder. Green/darkgreen tunic? Yep. Full-body chainmail? Yep. Large, loop-tied brown belt? Yep. That's a Rohirric outfit if I ever saw one. I'll definitely be picking up half a dozen or more of these to convert to Men of the Riddermark. Substitute any bearded fleshie head with scraggly hair or basic helmet/hood, give him a crappy spear/hand-axe, and that's a Rohirrim Infantryman ready for battle.
  13. Agreed. This sigil works as something distinct from the KK2 Bear sigil. This CMF Knight's sigil has a much more sinister look, factions that come to mind could be "Deathbear" "Darkbear" "Blackbear" "Greybear" "Doombear" "Werebear" ...lots of possibilities. Very distinct from the stoic grizzly of the KK2 sigil. This is an excellent series for Castle fans - a significant salve for the open wound that Nexo Knights is for so very many (though personally after examining the HD pics I intend to pick up about 1/2 of the Nexo first wave). -Winged Warrior Helm: excellent new helmet for more fantastical medieval characters -Winged Warrior Spear: ornate spear with many applications for Castle, longspears are in short supply and any color is always acceptable, especially novel colors -Winged Warrior Torso/Legs: these could segue right into existing Spartan/Roman collections, or be used for gods/heroes of mythology. -Animal Control Officer's Skunk: a couple skunks can help populate a forest scene, worth grabbing at least one -Lazer Robot's Sword: taken apart from the figure, this isn't a bad magical blade or magical blast for a wizard or mage character - love the dark blue color. -Farmer Hat/Pitchfork: you can never have too many of these for peasant populations -Farmer's Pig: at last, praise be the gods - a pig for dirt cheap. The livestock pens of all Castle dioramas will at last be full. -Astronaut's Head: As far as I can tell this is a new bearded/stubble print that would fit excellently on most medieval characters -Sinister Knight: entire minifigure is a godsend. Morningstar is an entirely unexpected a wondrous new mold. The rest of the figure is a great new aesthetic that feels more realistic than many existing figures. Castle fans will buy these buy the dozen and rightly so. -Satyr: also spectacular like the Sinister Knight, but for different reasons, mainly being the opportunity to create hoofed factions (I'm picturing combining these legs with the Nexo Knight lava warriors to create Devil/Demon fantasy troops). -Queen: A second fully medieval figure in the wave is a nice surprise, new dress mold is gravy. -Ultimate Warrior: The mullet works for Braveheart, as others have mentioned. -Tribal Mother: The papoose baby will fit right into any medieval peasant family. -Kendo Warrior: Not a bad torso. It's one of the less interesting Oriental figures to appear in the CMF line but the wooden swords and cool coloring make it worth grabbing a couple. -Clumsy Guy: Sadly the band-aid kills the headprint for medieval usage, but the bandage hat-piece is great and would fit in quite well to any ragtag, battleworn medieval legion. As a Middle-earth fanatic, I personally see the Sinister Knight as a great potential addition to the forces of ROHAN. His torso with the chainmail and dark green coloring would make a perfect Rohirric infantryman. Just swap in some green/brown/grey arms to lighten it a little bit, and any bearded fleshie head and you've got a Man of the Riddermark.
  14. Spider droid repack with Yoda instead of Stass Allie. Absurd waste of a kit.
  15. Excellent polybag. Was able to grab five at the local TRU without any other purchases. A steal for only 4 clams. I have a strong feeling that when Threepio finally appears in a TFA era kit, he won't have arm/sideleg printing. So this polybag is a must have. And honestly, I think there's a good chance we won't even see a TFA era Threepio until an Episode IX kit, or later. He's in a polybag right now and a standard Threepio will be on shelves with the Droid Escape for the next 1.5 years (and Lego has been perfectly content to keep him unavailable for years at a time outside of $300 monster sets...)
  16. A Death Star Briefing in the $30 range like the Carbon Chamber would solve the ROTJ Rebel problem. General Lando, NN, new Mothma or Madine. Done. Personally I find it odd how we keep getting Rebel pilots (microfighters, etc.) but never a proper Wedge. I'm picking up this whole January wave for sure, except maybe the Yoda kit. Hard to justify such a crappy rehash just for Yoda and one clone.
  17. Lol, why would you want another heavy gunner torso? There will be so many surplus from the battle pack. I am glad the Takodana kit had two normal Stormtroopers, they're still not going to be easy to get even with the battle pack, and you can't have too many. I agree though, it's like the Council of Elrond but done properly (the minifigures in CoE were poorly chosen and not desirable, whereas these are an excellent mix of existing and new figures all pursued by most fans).
  18. Broke down and completed my Constraction collection today. Was picking up Cody anyways and decided to bite the bullet and grab uncanny Luke. Committing to being a completionist for the SW Constractions I guess. I don't know about anyone else, but the minute I get Finn I'm giving his blaster to Grievous and taking a blue saber for Finn. It's an oversight that he comes with a blaster and not a saber IMO, since all promotional materials have depicted him wielding a saber for at least a month now (and only Kylo has a saber in this wave, which is odd). Now I guess we start speculating about Constraction Wave 3. Hopefully it's six more classic characters and they focus on masked/alien/cgi characters. A solid wave in my mind would be Kanan/Inquisitor, Chewbacca/Boba, TCW Anakin/Savage.
  19. Make that a triple threat. Not only is it Lego and a zombie - it remains to this day the BEST Lego zombie, no contest. The zombies which followed in MF were all pretty specialized (cook, groom, etc.) and hard to amass in bulk. And the Series 14 zombies, while good figures, are also too specialized (Pirate is weird, Cheerleader is specific and goofy, Businessman is good but has a weak faceprint). The whole point of zombies is the plural: zombieS. You have to amass the horde by the dozens. And the S1 Zombie is still the only Zombie who, without any modification, looks excellent en masse. I really hope we get more CMF zombies within the next couple years, something that can finally dethrone the S1 Zombie as a good Zombie armybuilder. A Zombie workman, Zombie redneck, just a proper Zombie civilian in simple casual wear.
  20. It seems redundant when put like that, but what *could* they possibly release? Nothing from the prequels, no way. The only guarantee is 2 packs from Rogue One - but those Rebels and Imperials can and will be visually different than the Battlefront aesthetic. And for the other two packs, there's lots of untapped First Order material that begs to be produced, but nothing demands a Resistance pack to be the one that matches it - it could be a Jakku pack with Kanjiklub/Unkar thug/minion characters for all we know. Hey, in 2014 and 2015 alone we had a total of FOUR Republic packs - and most of those were of obscure or even made-up troop types. Considering that, I find it more than plausible that we see more First Order and OT era Imperial packs in Jan 2017.
  21. An excellent point. 2 of January 2017 packs will be Rogue One, but let us hope there are 2 more TFA packs - one of the red flags would be a perfect accessory. I'm hopeful that January 2017 will hold more TFA packs in store for us. Should that be the case, some kind of speeder or vessel seems likely, as it's a pretty common battlepack vehicle. I also recall seeing a mod to extend the length of the FO Transporter which could prove useful for your needs. All in all I think that the quibbles folks have with these battlepacks are simply a reflection of AFOLs and LEGO being on slightly different wavelengths. In LEGO's eyes they just released a Stormtrooper transport with 4 identical Stormtroopers, so their mentality would not be to bombard us with even more high quantities of 'bland' Stormtroopers within the year. Unfortunately, they didn't realize that AFOLs generally despise the Rebelstormies and worship the ISD Stormie with religious fervor (no sarcasm at all, the ISD Stormie is divine and has no equal). Hopefully 2016 is merely a 'breather' and they recognize the demand for the basic ISD Stormie in multiples down the line. Personally, I feel like we should hope for, at most, a Rogue One pack with 1-2 ISD Stormies and 2 specialized Rogue One troop types (whatever cool Imperial stuff appears in the film, be it Shadow Stormies or some new variant or whatever).
  22. Yeah, nobody else seems to have considered this. January 2017 will have four more battlepacks as always, with two from Rogue One and quite likely two more from Force Awakens (more normal FO Stormies, Flametrooper, Snowtrooper, basic Officer, FO TIE Pilot are all possibilities, along with as-yet unseen troop types). The Rogue One Imperial pack will have to have Stormtroopers in it, and they'll more than likely be cleantroopers. I like the FO BP too. The Officer is a new helmet mold and troop type, and the FO Crew is something I have no problem amassing like Death Star Gunners or other techs. And getting a Heavy Stormtrooper is cool, didn't expect to see him show up as a figure. Sure, the 'perfect' distribution would have dropped the Officer or Ground Crew for another FO Stormie, but I'd be shocked if we don't see another VII/VIII battlepack with more basic FO Stormies in Jan 2017. Bottom line, the FO Battlepack is a pretty decent selection based on the First Order forces. Look at the picture and you can see *lots* of FO Ground Crew and Officers. If anything, the Heavytrooper is the least common, but personally I think it's a cool variant and don't mind having a bunch. And you can just bricklink some basic FO Stormie torsos to balance out your collection if it really is bothersome and you can't wait until 2017.
  23. This one has only 3 dots on the badge. Implies a different character.
