  1. Ordered 5/6 Hobbit sets off S@H, and scored 8 Mirkwood elves with the TRU BOGO50. Did anyone bother to get Riddles for the Rings? The gollum face is too similar for me to care, and it's an identical Bilbo to Barrel Escape. Just can't dig it.
  2. ^This. I am very glad there's 3 Hobbit movies, because that will drum up enough kiddie interest to keep the line alive for probably 4 waves - Hobbit 1 sets for Wave 2, a light summer Wave 3 of LOTR if the reports are right, a strong holiday Wave 4 for the Hobbit 2 (Smaug is a high impact character and a set of him would sell BIG), a summer 2014 Wave 5 for Hobbit 3, and probably some sets at that Christmas to close out the line. It could extend into Spring or Summer 2015, but I wouldn't bet on it.
  3. For the sets themselves (not the polybags), I saw just buy from Lego.com - you get the VIP points, and depending on your state, no tax. Better deal than the inflated BOGO50. Polybags though....hit up your local TRU and grab everything they have!
  4. We scored 8 Mirkwood elves today at our local TRU, harnessing the BOGO50 sale for a total of 30 bucks and change - about 4 dollars an Elf. Heading back tomorrow for another 12 - guess I'm glad ultimately that I missed the online sale!
  5. Didn't know you could bisect the new Jabba. Hilarious
  6. The rubber "hats" for Maul and Savage really turn me off. Are they functional, or do they come off easily?
  7. What number snowspeeder is this? I've lost count...
  8. Bobsy, those are spectacular choices. Since we're dreaming... KOTOR 1 Taris: Leviathan w/ Malak Manaan: Ebon Hawk w/ Bastila Rakata Prime: Star Forge w/ Revan KOTOR comic Flashpoint: The Last Resort w/ Zayne Carrick Arkania: Arkanian Legacy w/ Jarael
  9. Hoth super battlepack is pointless IMO - a single, relatively one sided battle with hyperspecific troops on both sides. I'd say go for Endor instead, but that's not great either...the Old Republic one would have been epic as a large battlepack, those troops are more interesting a novel than an umpteenth clone or stormtrooper. Loving the OR battlepack but that's probably all I'll grab this wave.
  10. I have two Mirkwood Elves. Need Elrond. PM me.
  11. Went ahead and ordered everything but the redundant Riddles for the Ring. A clean $290 from Lego S@H, no shipping, no tax. Can't ask for much more than that.
  12. Trying to access the Hobbit legos on Lego shop results in a redirect loop. What gives? edit: they seem to be searchable though. Glad I have a Maine address to dodge the state tax! Massachusetts gets slammed.
  13. Went to purchase some and the listing is gone, what the &%*^!
  14. Dang, I think you could easily call this the best polybag ever. Something for everyone: Mushroom cap available for cheap, a nice little tree which is a perfect parts pack, a dark green hood, Legolas' torso available for dirt-cheap (meaning you only need to buy a Hobbit Legolas and swap the torsos if LOTR Legolas was out of your price range), proper equipment (not only elven bow AND quiver but also emerald luxury goods), and at the core, a perfect army-builder. Some may cry for an Elven hairpiece, but green hoods can be used for much more. And to top it all off, it's available to be purchased in bulk, online, in America (alas for the other countries, but they should flood the secondary market posthaste).
  15. http://videogames.lego.com/en-us/lego-lord-of-the-rings/demo-download/ LEGO LOTR video game demo is available. The Battle of Helm's Deep, very fun. I wish they had made the Rohirrim sword sculpt like it is in the game. Makes me excited for Summer 2013!
  16. ^^This. I don't even remember who it was at the time, but any claims of premature cancellation for a line like this are overblown out of the paranoia that comes with the slow burn that is LEGO fandom, and the rabble-rouser gets to revel in their prophecies of doom as the loyal but gullible fans prostrate themselves in fear. Glad I never took them seriously. Speculation for Summer 2013 can thus begin in full!
  17. To upload pictures, just transfer them from your camera to your computer, and make sure you know where they are on your computer. Then just get an account at a site like Photobucket and upload them there, Take the image url from a picture after it is uploaded to photobucket, and use the Image button when posting on eurobricks (beneath the smiley, looks like a polaroid photo). You'd be a record-breaking early reviewer and would know untold fame and glory in the community.
  18. Exactly. For instance, Balin's Door had no display value for me so I just nabbed Pippin and some goblins online (grabbing the cooler Hobbit Legolas from Mirkwood Spiders).
  19. Thoughts on the three sets we have images of so far: Arkham Asylum: Ugh. Please. 160 dollars for this grey hunk of junk? It's Arkham storefront with a bloated piece and minifig count for an untenable price. Daily Bugle: Solid little tower, nothing special but nothing too extravagant. Solid minifigure selection, a more justifiable purchase than the mediocre August Spidey set. Tumbler Chase: Vehicles are weak, especially the Tumbler, but not a bad parts pack. Buying this for the minifigures, like most superhero sets.
  20. Kili is so overshadowed by his stylin' bro Fili that nobody wants to hear his name. As for the price discussion, The wave will be about even for me, since I skipped Weathertop, Mines of Moria and Orc Forge and just ebayed most of the minifigures, while still getting 2 Helm's Walls. The big question is whether to buy the six sets at a Lego store to get the VIP points, or skip that and buy online to avoid sales tax.
  21. ^That toy fair pic proves the quality of the Ori figure. It just has too many useful elements - a conservative, stylish purple fantasy robe, and a nice dark brown set of bowl-cut hair. Not to mention an ever-useful gray shortcape. Overall my reaction to the dwarves is as follows, from best to worst: Bofur: Bofur just knows how to roll. Giant hat and it ain't no thang. SWAG. Nori: They said he looked goofy but they didn't know this dwarf. Three-point hair, three-braid beard. Believe. Dwalin: Dwalin rocks the bald style in a way Yazneg fails to achieve. And his head has back printing, always a good thing. Balin: Pure white hair in a stylish hair/beard deal that goes perfectly with the deep red. Dori: I'm all over the reds, and Dori pulls off one of the best printed beards ever - depth without depth. Legit. Ori: Gotta give respect to my man Ori. He sees the haters but head held high. Purple robes like it's his job, shameless happy smile and rockin' the bowlcut. One Love. Bifur: The orange jacket isn't quite a fashion faux pas, but the axehead that's molded onto his hairpiece clearly demonstrates Bifur doesn't give a. Fili: Props to this bro for the laid-back style, long hair plus stylin' beard, and he wears the fur better than most of his compatriots. Expression is a little derpy but can't hate. Oin: There's a clash between that grey and white, Oin bro you gotta make up your mind. But the braided stache/ponytail combo is gutsy, and I can't take that away from you. Bombur: Dude, you gotta stop dumpster diving for your swag. Looks like a vomit-colored baby jumper. But big man clearly knows where he at, so give him some space, yo. Gloin: C'mon fella, someone shoulda told ya - Garfield is so twentieth century. That's not a beard, that's a tabby cat. Kili: Man this ain't GQ. Either shave or let it grow out, the five o' clock shadow is not working with that tar-mop you have going. Straighten up son. Thorin: First in the Company, last in line. You gotta chill out bro, take it easy for a change. Rock those furs with some swagger, and rein back the do.
  22. Of course, context matters. But collector's editions and preorders often have some truly rare and awesome stuff. I regret to this day that I did not get a Collector's Edition of The Witcher 2, for the bust of Geralt of Rivia and wearable Witcher medallion. The one downside of digital. I'm glad we're getting Last Alliance Elrond, it's the most useful and coolest-looking version of the character.
  23. I'll take the physical bonus any day, the digital content seems fun but is ultimately fleeting in both usefulness and exclusivity.
  24. But I was totally serious, dude Don't think it will be a problem. Hobbit movies mean parents buying Hobbit toys for the kids. Christmas 2012 and Christmas 2013 a guarantee, Christmas 2014 likely with continued buzz and the dvd. Think how Batman stuff will surely sell this Christmas, it's a Batman movie year. Kids and families don't operate on a by-the-minute basis like us hardcore collectors, who are buying the stuff as it's unloaded off the truck .
  25. Officially revealed, sure, but we don't care about that. Where are the illegal cell phone snaps?! Need more TMZ up in here, it's getting too classy.
