  1. Great job. Have you tried securing it to a lego kitchen work surface with a 1x2 jumper? Laurie
  2. Thanks for the compliments. I wanted to get as many details as I could in. I started with the keys and built the piano around them. The strings inside were more of an after thought cos it looked a little empty inside. Laurie
  3. Looks fantastic to me, and a great review to show it off. I'd be curious to know how it looks with the tractor and trailer from the farm set once that's released. There'll be a lot of funky colours going on. It is a pity about the hay bale mechanism though, i'd hoped for something more. Nothing a bit of modding won't fix though. Are those tall green inverted windscreens on the side? I don't think i've ever seen them in a non transparent colour before. Laurie

    City '09?

The pizzeria/bus stop/ bike shop has a wonderful classic town feel to it. I'll be buying that as soon as it's available. I can't wait. pity the skateboard is bigger than the kid though Laurie
  5. Well the moon is made of cheese, right? Laurie
  6. Great MOC. I love the water coming out the hose. just a pity it's pointed the wrong way Laurie
  7. Does nobody else find the new creator house quite ugly? It's a great model, but the colour scheme just doesn't please my eye. I think it's the red roof and blue shutters with the tan walls. I'll still end up buying it though Laurie
  8. Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I'm probably gonna order most of the parts and try to modify it with some non LDD pieces. I'll be sure to post pics once it's done. I'll definately be adding a couple of 1x1 black tiles to cover the studs on the lid. For some reason they're available in pick a brick but not to buy on LDD, bizarre! Laurie
  9. Just some pics of a Grand Piano I made on LDD today. The limited pieces available on LDD made this more challenging than it needed to be! The whole thing started with an idea of how to do the keys and the legs; they're the bits i'm most happy with. The lid was the most challenging part, it doesn't have quite the same profile as the body of the piano A view under the lid. The whole thing costs £10.86 or £5.40 without the stage or minifig. This is my first MOC uploaded to Brickshelf and my first on Eurobricks too. I have many to share but no camera at the moment so you'll have to make do with my LDD attempts Thanks for looking, Laurie
  10. I got a set of extra heads and hats in the new coast guard ship i think. Pity I didn't get any extra minifig bodies to go with them I also got some extra stickers in a set recently, but i can't for the life of me remember which set or find the stickers! Laurie
  11. While looking through my Jan 2009 Lego catalogue I noticed that the pirate minifig in the 6192 Lego Creator Pirate Building Set featured a minifig head I didn't recognise from any of the other new sets. This seems strange to me; printing a new head for one £7 set. We can only hope it's an indication there will be more pirate sets after January, and friendlier ones too if the Creator pirate is anything to go by One minor detail I noticed while checking to see if this new head was used in any other sets is the female pirate in the crowsnest of 6253 Shipwreck Hideout on page 6 of the catalogue is having some difficulty with her telescope. She seems to have it held up to her eyepatch! No wonder her musket isn't aimed at anything. This little embarassment also features on the front of the box! Laurie

    City '09?

Looks like a little modding may be necessary for those of us who wish to add a bus to a city where the occupants drive on the left hand side of the road. At least it'll be better than the football/soccer buses (3404-3408 i think) from years ago that opened from the rear and you had to pull out a plate as long as the bus for the passengers to exit. Laurie
  13. I think Dario is asking whether people would like lego ghost pirates as an addition to lego pirates rather than using the playmobil as an addition to lego pirates. I think it would make a great theme by itself or as a third faction to the pirates vs imperial soldiers. It would be good for adding fantasy elements such as mermaids and large kraken without offending the die hard realism pirate fans. Laurie
  14. The first set I remember owning and building myself is the 6515 Octan Stunt Helicopter in 1994 when I was 6, but I'd been playing with my brother's lego for years. I think the first big set I built all by myself was the 6949 Spyrius Robo Guardian, also from 1994 Laurie
  15. Thanks guys. I hope to start photographing some of my MOCs from over the years soon. Then hopefully start building some new ones using some of the new techniques i've seen browsing the site. Laurie EDIT: I also need to get an avatar sorted out
  16. Very nice EMS vehicles, but that BK-117 is fantastic especially considering the fact it has sliding doors too. The swordfish in your Flickr folder is great too. The colours look perfect and it's easily the best minifig scale aircraft i've seen in a while Laurie PS love the yellow ambulance
  17. Some great links in this thread. I've been looking to secure my corners using the 2x2 turntables too but I'm having the same trouble with level crossings using the 6x8 slopes on my level crossings. The only solution I've found is to raise the whole track one brick and have 2 layers of slopes on each side. The problem with this is it requires twice as many slopes per crossing. Cheers Laurie
  18. Excellent review. I bought this heli when it first came out because it resembles my favourite helicopter, the sea king. It's been my favourite heli for a few years until the new 7738 coast guard helicopter was released. I've never had any trouble with placing the pilots on this heli though. I find it's easiest if you swing the engines upwards, then it just lifts off. I have modified mine wuite a bit though, lengthening it and adding doors and a winch. I'm intrigued by the helicopter transporter rumoured for next year. I wonder if it'll be a smaller version of the old model team whirl and wheel super truck? Laurie
  19. Hi everyone, my name's Laurie and I'm from Leicester in England. I'm just returning from a slightly dark age when I spent 2 years at university away from my lego and only bought the occasional set. I mainly build classic town style buildings and vehicles. I also have a fair amount of star wars lego, though I ahven't bought much since ep 3 came out. I hope to fix this by buying some of the Clone wars sets soon! I also have a fair amount of classic pirates, knights and space from the 90s, though very little of it hasn't been cannibalised for parts. I'm a bit of an aviation nut and hope to get round to building an accurate model of an aircraft sometime soon. I've only just got into more advanced building techniques, using my first bits of SNOT, if you'll pardon the expression, in my last 2 models; a train and a house. I hope to upload some pics once I find a camera. Anyway, I'll shut up now and get back to checking out all your amazing MOCs. Laurie
