Toa Ignika. There's not a single character in Bionicle that comes even close to his awesomeness and loveliness.
-
You know, Skrall wields a different sword in the Group-picture than on his individual picture on the next page. Has this been noticed before?
-
Apparently, with the update of "Destiny" on the story page of Bionicle.com, you can also see Rahkshi Star on the new Bios description. But the new bios isn't up yet, of course.
-
Great! Now I will no longer have to wonder about where to keep putting my sets, the story will finally not be restricted by sets anymore and I can FINALLY pester Greg into making a serial focussed solely on Toa Ignika.
-
Riddle of the Great Beings 8 is up. It's the last chapter, and hints that 2010 is merely the end of this part of the Bionicle saga, and not the end of Bionicle itself.
-
I like the storyline. What I don't like is that it's ruhed in some parts and tied to sets. I would be a lot more interesting if it were a stand-alone fictional series of books, comics or whatever. Then it could reach its full potential. Now, tied to the sets as it is, it has to keep appealing to 6 to 14 year olds. Oh, and what I also don't like about the storyline is people claiming nobody loves it anymore. 2010 so far is the worst case of story-rushing I've EVER seen.
-
Well, that solves my problem of where to keep putting my sets. But way to go out with no bang at all.
-
Did he now? As far as I know, all he did was confirm the Ignika made Tahu Mata again, not that it had anything to do with the golden armor.
-
Reign of Shadows 8 is up. And it reveals, I think, that the Ignika is connected to the golden armor.
-
Maybe Takanuva and Nuparu fix the device on Destral, and is that used to go to Bara Magna? It's something different from Vezon, at least.
-
Well, if it does end, then at least I won't have to worry about the problem of where to keep putting my sets anymore. There's a positive side to it, yes sir.

To be honest, all I care about in 2010 is what happens to Ignika once Mata Nui's spirit gets out of it. Maybe a return of Toa Ignika? Probably not, and even if so, it'll be another wasted character with potential in the mess of the overal storyline. Bionicle suffers from too many characters, which can't be helped as it is a toy line. Still, I find it sad considering the potential the storyline has. It's strange how LEGO keeps 2010 under wraps like this. Sure, Greg revealed some stuff and we basically know what'll happen in the story, but I meant set-wise, and future-of-Bionicle-wise. Normally we'd be complaining about how awful the new sets look by now because of leaks. Now? Nothing, except fearing what a mess it'll be thanks to the Stars.

Well, I guess people's wish for a giant robot battle will be granted... Wonder how Mata Nui transfers his spirit from the Ignika to the robot? Isn't he sealed in it? Wait... Mata Nui => Out of the Ignika = Ignika being himself again! YES! It does seem like they majorly cut the 2010 story like they did in 2007. A real shame, for I would not have minded at all a year focussing on Mata Nui, Kiina and Gresh wth Tarduk travelling to the Valley of the Maze and a movie about that, then ending the year with the recreation of the robot. Now it all gets rushed. :(

Ah, so how is Geg going to make Tahu a Mata again? Size is all fine and non canon, but eh...

Sounds to me you're just sad that all years after 2001 weren't just 2001 all over again. -
True, but at least the movie had it acted out. Let's be honest here, the Secret Lab was one of the Legend Reborn's better scenes. Very omnious, mysterious... Good music as well. The story update just made it seem so... boring.

Eh, what books have you been reading boy? He had a very interesting personality. And the entire point of the Kanohi Ignika is that it has a mind of its own. Have you even been following the storyline since 2007? And no, he is not great for me because he's powerful. He's great for me because of the concept he embodies: learning what living means, and learning to live. A fascinating concept some people, like me, can connect to, or even see a bit of themselves in. The entire chapter where Ignika debates the creation of his body is deepness in physical form, and the personality the Toa Ignika has is naive and innocent. Combined with his extreme level of power, it made him an interesting, if not a bit dangerous character. It's like giving a toddler the remote control of a nuclear missile to play with. The child is innocent, the power it holds not so. The confusion Ignika was feeling when the Nuva were tricked by Mutran, and how naively simple he reacted on it all made him a great character to follow, as every person with the slightiest bit of empathy would find themselves wondering how he was going to react next, if he would ever learn to understand complex emotions like lies and deceit. Basically, Ignika was Bionicle's version of a child, and that alone makes him very unique in a universe full of grown-ups, and gave him an entirely different personality, way of thinking and acting than all the heroes we have see up to now. Make that villains as well. Toa Ignika was Bionicle going into deep, thought-provoking territory: the meaning of life and what living means. Shame there are people like you who say this sucks and is cheap. Because that probably means we won't be seeing great concepts like this again, in favour of simpler, more boring stuff like lessons about unity which The Legend Reborn is full of. No thanks, I take the meaning of life over "unity, duty and destiny" any day.

Actually, by saying he does, you are contradicting yourself. You agree with DV when he says Greg uses cliche after cliche, but if anything, Toa Ignika was a very unique character. Haven't come across an object making a body for itself in any other story, anyway. And now suddenly that's become cliche and cheap too? Tell you what, you guys are just complaining for the heck of it. And no, that's not really cool or anything. It's sad, if anything. Besides, Toa Ignika does not suck. *hugs Toa Ignika*

Your opinion is WRONG.

I may not have been studying literature and yada yada like the great Darth Vader, and while I do agree that most serials aren't very good (this year has been much better so far), to say Greg sucks or isn't good at all is stretching it. There are far worse writers out there who have sold so much it makes me loose faith in humanity. Stephenie Meyer, anyone? Sorry, but no, Greg doesn't suck. At least he can spell and is willing to do violence or kill characters, be it believable or not, and he has some humidity, and can take some credit and doesn't have a youngr brother check all his mail and delete any negative comments. Of course, if you know anyone who can do better, by all means, go offer their services to LEGO. Bionicle can only benefit from it. As for the Red Star, I agree that it could serve as a link between the universes, but I still don't quite see how it all could make sense. Seperate locations doesn't seem too likely either, for "that will be too confusing for the target audience", you know?

I just would have liked a few more years just focussing on Mata Nui's journey and searching for a way to reclaim his empire, not an immediate return after just a year. The end of 2008 (and 2009) showed such great promise for a new story arc starring Mata Nui. All these rumours now are ruining all the potential. =(

Quoted for truth. Toa Ignika was easily the greatest characer Bionicle has ever known and will ever know. Greg did a fantastic job on that character, for which he has my eternal respect, as I'm a very devoted Ignika fan. I hope one day we will see the Toa of Life again, so we can continue following his slow bu steady progression to understanding and being a living being. Seriously: "I will do what must be done. Then I will be like Matoro. I will be a hero." Is easily the greastest quote ever. As for the Matoran Universe: NO! I don't wanna see that place again. More Bara Magna, please, please, please, LEGO!
-
Eh, Greg proved to me he can write by writing "Shadows in the Sky". Ever read the chapter where the Ignika makes its body? That's good writing right there, and I know it could have been far, far worse. People just like to complain for the sake of being "rebellious". That's really all there is to it.

I think it's a prtty fun game, with an original take on how to do a Bionicle game. Better than Bionicle: The Game at least. It has a great soundtrack. I have the PC version and the DS version, and the DS is actually my favourite. The FPS perspective just work great.

The story page has been updated with "Secret Lab", but it's basically retelling the movie in a less exciting way.
