These are prizes that can't be bought anywhere else and exclusively made for Eurobricks and GoH. Stay tuned for more! -
Indeed the sloped walls are a great detail! Despite your part limit you've made a great and formidable looking fortification. I also like the way you've used the red plumes as flowers. This has the definitive Avalonian feel; well done!

Welcome to our forum. Seeing as you are new I will give you a few pointers to help you on the way: 1) Please look at page 1 of this thread, it explains everything about Mitgardia and the Guild System. 2) Please use proper punctuation, spelling and format your posts. (The above post will quickly generate you bad rap points with Mods and regulators alike) If you think you could do that, I look forward to seeing your character posted in this thread! Cheers! -SOT -

Hear ye, hear ye! gather round Guildsmen as titles for mini challenge builds are handed out! Mitgardian Lore Mini-Challnge: The most entrees, only 2 were chosen, and thus I present: Flint and rucorder with the title of Mitgardian Lore master. Shipbuilding Mini-Challenge: Because of his beautiful, detailed and original ship ideas, Ecclesiastes has earned the title: "Admiral of the Mitgardian Fleet" Because of his great effort and contribution with the Lady Emma MOC, Kabel has earned the title "Vice-Admiral of the Mitgardian Fleet" Festival Mini-Challnge: For his great festival scene Ecclesiastes will be given the title "Mitgardian Bard". (I could only find 1 entree for this mini challenge, and there is another such title to be given, so if you built one and i missed it please let me know and I will adjust accordingly) Congratulations all on your hard work and creativity; please update your signatures. Just a reminder the Valholl Micro-Scale Challenge is pinned in the Guilds of Historica forum. (remember prizes include a gift card to Lego store, Jarl Nibelung Mini-figure and an official letter form the jarl.) -

@ Flint: Great Question! As long as the actual build does not exceed the border restrictions, I think a border around it would be just fine. Of course that doesn't mean that the border can stretch for 10 more studs, I think a reasonable border size would be between 1-3 additional studs off of each edge. -

Greetings Guildsmen! Now that the entrees are in for all embassies and mini-challenges we are beginning the process of scoring. Unlike round 1 there will not be a "top 5" and all entrees will be scored. We feel this is the fairest way to do it; in addition all entrees will go towards generating guild points as well! Over all I'd say excellent execution in this round; us Mitgardians had some amazing builds. Stay tuned for news regarding titles/new mini challenges and the next official challenge:ROUND 3! Long live Mitgardia! -

Micro Scale in the sense of really far away. (Ie people aren't distinguishable) Think of Blake's projects for scale: -

Sirens-of-Titan replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow Derfel that is simply fantastic! Not only is it refreshing to see you use new techniques and color schemes, but the direction you have chosen to take this in is even better! You have definitely captured the "Warhammer" feeling with this design, and especially so with the piled skulls and crosses and chimneys in the design! The roof looks great; a thoroughly weathered and yet still colorful surface. Funny enough, I thought that Avalonia would be a perfect fit for the "Empire" faction of the games workshop world, and it turns out you did as well! Well done, I hope to see more in this style! -SOT -
Greetings Mitgradians, this is the official thread for posting your entrees for the Valholl Micro-Scale Build project. Here is the description of the project once again: Valholl Micro-Scale Build: Task: Construct our mighty capital in micro-scale according to the guidelines listed herein and post your design in this topic. This will be the beginning of a much larger series of projects, but we need to settle on a size/look/theme for our great city first. Micro-scale will give us a good idea of layout, and will double as a type of rudimentary map for us to follow when building parts of the city up. Unlike Avalonia's Capital I will not be assigning lots, instead there will be districts in which you could build in future full-scale builds. Micro-scale build must include: 1) Surrounding environment be it plains, farmland, mountains, forests, river etc. 2) A system of walls, and fortifications all along the outer bounds of the city. 3) A centrally located castle or citadel 4) At least one residential district 5) An economic district 6) A slums district 7) A city square Size: Build can be no bigger than 40X40 studs, and no smaller than 24X24 studs. (yes it's a "big city" and the build should reflect this ) Scale: The scale must be such that individual people are not distinguishable. (Look atBlake's Mini Builds here for idea of correct size) Reward: To give incentive for you builders, by the end of the specified deadline there will be a vote for best design, and the winner of that vote will be awarded several honors. 1) Their micro-scale city will be placed on the front page of our forum under the Valholl Section. 2)Their architectural style and layout will be used thereafter as a guide to future building projects of Valholl. 3) The Title of "Master Architect of Valholl" will be given to winner 4) For their effort, they will be awarded a $20US gift card for the Lego Shop, along with a Jarl Nibelung Minifigure and Official Seal of Valholl letter. So be creative, make it a great design and take good pictures! Remember it must be a mighty impressive city! Deadline is March 24th. Please post your entrees here, on March 24th the contest ends and there will be a vote on the best design! Long Live Mighty Mitgardia! -Jarl Nibelung NOTE: (I have pinned this so that we can easily find it, it'll be unpinned once competition ends.)

Wonderful embassies Guildsmen! Your builds are truly inspired and well-made! To answer a question that came up about joining; membership to all guilds is open except for Avalonia. (The reason being is it got too crowded over there) A little less than a week left now until the deadline for mini challenges and and the embassy challenge; if you are finishing them up try to post them soon so that we don't have any contested "late entrees". I am going to start a small project for us to build up our capital. I am announcing a contest for a mini build that is independent of the other mini challenges. Valholl Micro-Scale Build: Construct our mighty capital in micro-scale according to the guidelines listed herein and post your design in the topic I am going to start. This will be the beginning of a much larger series of projects, but we need to settle on a size/look/theme for our great city first. Wow Etzel! I give you 10/10 for creativity, the numerous angles, designs and beautiful buildings throughout really make this a marvel to behold. Not only have you created an amazing embassy, you've added a lot of richness to the world of the South! From your vibrant color choice, to your intricate mosaics to those brilliant stair cases and perfectly-outfitted mini-figures this build is eye candy throughout! Very well done sir!

Phenomenal work! What a beautiful building to grace the Eastern lands with! I really like the architecture, mini-figures and color choice; once again you amaze us with your artistic touch! Well done!

Thanks guys! I don't have pictures of my set up because it's extremely rudimentary... I literally use 3 household lamps with white-light halogen bulbs with 2 fixed at equidistant height above the model and the third being moved around to highlight details. If your pictures are turning out too dark I suggest setting your camera's shutter speed slower, so that it takes in more light. That's the difference between a grey background and a pristine white background. Cheers, I'll take a picture of the set up next time I put it up. -

Thanks DC, that means a lot! The bridge is done with a column of headlight bricks laid on its side. This gives you tiny gaps barely a fifth of a stud wide. The lighting is very simple; Life Light LED kits with 5 LED's in the main keep and 3 LED's in the smaller tower. I simply put the bulb through a headlight brick and angle it right behind the window so that the light is scattered throughout the trans pieces creating the feel of a candle-lit interior. I'm glad you like the story, we're halfway though with it, and it's all escalating quickly from here on out! -

Welcome new members! You can post free builds as separate topics, but make sure you let us know here as it's almost impossible to keep up with the general forum and it'd be a shame for us to miss something! Just addressing a few thoughts: 1) It's understandable that people are busy, if anyone has a suggestion for how we can enrich Mitgardia without building elaborate MOC's per say I'd be very willing to hear it. If we get some good ideas we can start a separate topic (kind of like Angeli's Drow arena) where multiple people post and contribute. 2) There is a little over a week to go until the embassy deadline, keep it in mind if you want to enter. 3) There still are no entrees in a few of the mini challenges categories, so they're wide open for any who wish to take them up! Long live Mitgardia! -

@ Dan Church: Wonderful embassy Dan! I like the feeling of tranquility that it has, and those sheep are classic! I am starting to wonder if half of our members have fallen off the face of the Earth. If you're still alive people, feel free to chime in and grace us with a friendly hello. So far only 2 entrees for the mini challenges, let's try to enrich Mitgardia with a few free build. -
Great topic Brickster! I definitely suffer form the same condition that you guys do; creating elaborate worlds in my head and then putting them to brick form. I find myself enthralled by fantasy and sci-fi fiction a lot of the time, so it's only natural to want to emulate and create my own version of old classics like Tolkien etc. What started for me as a simple venture into the world of castle building has turned into a full-blown fixation into making as many diverse fantasy environments as possible, and putting my own twist on them. When I write stories I create elaborate relationships between characters that draw on historic an literary precedents, and hopefully inspire and entertain other builders. The fantasy world I've been writing about is your classic fantasy setting, with a few exceptions. You get everything from castles, to villages to bizarre dream sequences, all in the spirit of the classic fantasy novel/movie/game. My goal has always been to create a type of cross-section of the world with multiple environments so that I'm not just building house after house and fortress after fortress. I have a plan for something a bit more interesting in the future, but only after I finish my "Rise of the Mage" project, and of course depending on how Historica is doing after the projected end date.

ISC, your builds got me into MOC'ing a little over a year ago. Your Terra Volcanis MOC inspired me to start building, and I am very grateful for your help in promoting my builds on this site. Your leadership in both the forum and the Guilds have made this site categorically the best one to visit and discuss for all current and aspiring fans of the brick, and with encouragement and constant optimism and benevolence you have brought out the best in all builders who post here. It's a good thing you'll have a bit more time for building now, I can't wait to see what you come up with! Cheers, and thank you for a great few years of leadership! -Alex

Thanks guys! The dragon is a fully-build model but can't stand upright on it's own. (Too head-heavy) I had to hold it to pose in all the pictures, so I had to crop that part out. I will develop it more for future chapters so you can see it's free-standing glory. Oh, the Avalonian Lord is more of an Easter egg for those who follow the story and know about Historica. -

@ Fat Tony: Wow that is a beauty! You have amazing skill when it comes to dwarven architecture and machinery! I continue to build on the Rise of the Mage story, and as it's a least partially set in Mitgardia I feel it's appropriet to add this next MOC to our discussion here. Long live Mitgardia! -
Hello all, I have just finished the longest and most elaborate chapter to date of my "Rise of the Mage". There are quite a few builds in there so instead of doing separate topics, I post them all here, along with a link to the story. Lord of the Dragon Riders on MOCPAGES Here are a few notable pictures: Thanks for checking in! -Sirens
