What Dunjohn said I don't mind NES Adventures of Link, it has some interesting points (six villages or so, spell casting) but it was really tough. I never finished it, as a kid or an adult. A Link to the Past is one of the finest Zelda games ever made, and was to the first one as SNES Mario World was to the first Super Mario. An article like this may interest you, page three has the SNES version. http://retro.ign.com/articles/939/939361p1.html

Very fashionable! I like it.

OoT really is a better game overall than WW. The dungeons just have that much more depth. Though I hesitate to play OoT again for the nightmare of the Water Dungeon. WW is the opposite. Mostly smaller, more manageable dungeons. Interesting, but not as stimulating. I'd had reservations about Majora's Mask, but in the past few years, I'd read a lot of favorable reviews, usually, "different but very good" so I want to give it a chance. I got it on Wii Ware. Unfortunately, that too is in Japanese. I don't mind playing Zelda games in Japanese, but in Japanese with a time limit is intimidating. Twilight Princess updated enough stuff for me to make it probably my favorite game. I love the claw shot, the magnetic usage of the iron boots, and mostly like the spinner. I wrote this before, but I played through it twice, and was happy each time. I'm tempted to go through the SNES version, probably for my sixth time

Welcome EvilTwin! I'm the same way. Not everyone can be a master builder

Kalvin! Anyways, welcome to Eurobricks!

I finished Wind Waker last night. I'd only got through 90% when I played it for the first time years back. I have the Japanese version, and my Japanese was pretty lousy back then. My thoughts: definitely not better than Twilight Princess or Ocarina of Time (still haven't played through Majora's Mask). The water stuff is boring. Even with warping, having to play a song/animation to change directions is a pain. Getting eight maps and then getting their treasure is boring. During the dungeons, I was mostly happy, if the bosses were pretty easy. In between, meh. One thing I really liked was he figures you can make with color camera. That is a very fun feature. So, I liked it, but I would never recommend it to someone as their first Zelda game, even when it was new. I started up No More Heroes tonight, so maybe I'll go through Majora's Mask after that.

Svelte? I think they were in his lovely pirate ship MOC. They could be used in a MOC where all life was frozen in place, and they became one with the vegetation. It's a longshot, but you can put that as #101. I liked my set, but I'd gotten really excited about it by the preview pics, and didn't enjoy it as much as I expected to.

This is a really beautiful MOC. I like the alternate usages you have for the spherical turret parts. I should check out that game too...

I was talking about the visuals only. Stimulating visuals

You got me 100%. I made a point of checking it while in Canada, so I could see it in English, in 3-D. I had low expectations beyond that, and it fulfilled! It stimulated well for 2 1/2 hours or so, and it did the job better than a lot of films.

I redid the poll since it seems I buggered it when I posted it first, but since it's only been a few hours, it shouldn't be too much harm done. I get paid on the 25th of the month, so a convincing argument might make the difference between Blackbeard's Bounty and City Corner...

As I posted a week ago in the "what do you do with your sets?" thread, I'm running out of space at home. On top of that, money's tight, and my current contract runs out 2011 (maybe I can extend it, maybe not), so I should not be splurging right now. The economy, you know? (Plus I'm the breadwinner) When I came out of my dark ages, I only bought Star Wars, for at least a year. When I bought my first non-Star Wars, I knew I was opening Pandora's Box, but I did it anyway. My wishlist quadrupled within a few months. On my wishlist right now is one big Pirates set, two town sets, one Star Wars set, and a Toy Story set. I was planning to space them a month apart until the amazing Star Wars summer series debuts, but even then, I think I need to economize, and buy a mid to large size every two months... Just for the time being. So today, as I was walking the streets, I was thinking I don't need to buy Blackbeard's Bounty. I love it, but I feel that years from now, I won't be stressed about it. From there, I started consolidating my wishlist, and thinking I should go in one direction, and I've been thinking in the long-term, I'd prefer Town, though it's currently only about 20% of my collection. I don't know, I don't think you can decide on one 100% of the time, but did you decide to focus?

The star of that, Billy Zane is pretty much a hack actor now, but just before The Phantom came out, he'd been building up buzz for years, including a role in Titanic as the douche. I read a gossipy article about him around the year 2000. Apparently, he was at a shindig somewhere, and a waiter or valet was not giving him enough priority service, so he asked the guy, "Do you know who I am? I was in the biggest movie of all time!" The staff smirked and said, "What, The Phantom?" I wish I could find the original article, but it was far too long ago Crap film though!

REVIEW: 7754 Home One: Mon Calamari Star Cruiser
def replied to starstreak's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Lovely review. I got this in January, and I built it after having built a bunch of sets, and couldn't enjoy it so much. But after a couple of weeks, I started adding all the other Rebel Alliance mini-figs I have to it, and it looks quite amazing, so no regrets at all. Is it worth is versus the price? 20,000 yen in Japan, I got it for $140 Canadian, and even then it wasn't a deal. But I'm glad I have it. It's no Cloud City playset, but it is memorable all the same. And pretty in white! btw, you forgot your poll -

Man, Yoda looks like someone in that pic... I just can't say who it is... That guy who sat on the toilet in American Pie... Ben from Dr. Katz... Someone is going to say "Yoda looks exactly like OOO" and nail it, and I'll be eternally jealous I didn't make that joke first. So who does he look like? 'Cause he certainly doesn't look like Yoda -

I'm originally from Toronto, so I've only used Air Canada to travel domestic. From Japan, Air Canada takes care of the flights from ANA. Cathay Pacific is an amazing airline. I've loved them every time I've used them, but they cost a bit more. Ah, airline talk, so exciting

Thanks for the input. Now I'm curious to hear from our Australian users. Their currency was so low, I was importing sets from there at half the price they were here with delivery, but as of six months ago or so, their was no benefit. Did prices stay the same through all that?
-
In Japan, the "official" prices are never charged, at least not by the main distributors Toys R Us and Amazon, and there is no S@H. ie. The Freeco Lego price is 4,725 yen, but 3,000 on Amazon. If Amazon can sell it for that, they're getting it at lower rates than two years ago. It must be a currency thing. Since Ireland and Germany are both on Euros, I'd doubt that there would be any major changes. I'd be interested to here the Australians and Singaporeans on this forum. Australia's currency has been all over the place, and most recently up, so I imagine right now the costs have gone down.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

No worries. I just like seeing Vader go nooooo! I'm looking forward to this. I think Lego Star Wars was much more fun than the Batman and Indy versions, though I played those through. The Batman one seemed particularly silly, with the cycling through suits. I'll get this quickly, it's just a matter of which format... Wii, Mac, or the PS3 I'll buy in a year or so. -
I'm curious to know how many countries this has happened in. I'm a Canadian living in Japan, and pretty much only pay attention to prices in those two places. But it seems that Lego sets got a little cheaper by the end of the year/start of this year. A quick example is Toys R Us prices. Star Wars battle packs were 2,000 yen for two years or more, but this year they were 1,599. Of course Amazon is proportionately cheaper. Is this the yen against the dollar? Against the Euro? Are things any cheaper where you are?

Another thread on this The reason you couldn't find a thread on this is because video games (even Lego ones) don't go in the Lego forums. <edit> Sorry to repeat you there, seiuchi-san!
