  1. I went to my Target today, and there were no minifigs to be seen anywhere, and the toys department had no idea about them. And although the LEGO sale has finished on their electronic system, there was still a 20% off sign out, so after a lot of hassle I got my POP set for $3.40 less. EDIT: And I bought a K-zone for the Harry Potter tin. It's very nice, a must for LEGO Harry Potter fans!
  2. Well, that's gone and destroyed chances of me leaping off to the shops to buy the passenger train. The main appeal of the PF trains to me was the fact that I wouldn't have to continually buy batteries for it. Congratulations LEGO....if I'm going to have to buy a rechargeable battery box on top of that then a 9v trainset from the secondary market is looking VERY appealing. LEGO said there was "not sufficient demand for the (9V trains) to be profitable and competitive", and yet now they are investing all this money into designing new elements specifically for trains - the PF train remote, train motor, flex track and small battery box - and they have decided trains are suddenly going to be in sufficient demand again. IMO when the metal-crimping machine broke (which I believe is what happened) they should have just moved the factory responsible for crimping the metal rails on the track to China and continued like that, in terms of cost it would have been likely similar to devising a whole new system from scratch, and would have caused minimal fussing in the AFOL community. I guess one way LEGO could redeem itself is to have some sort of swap scheme, where you can mail back your battery box and a cheque for some small amount and receive a rechargeable one?
  3. Nice to see that the LEGO Stores are coming into a 4th country at last! (or 5th, if you count the one that was near Moscow but is now shut) I bet one will open in Toronto at some point in the future, it's the same distance by car to the nearest LEGO Store as the Calgary Store is to its nearest neighbour (c. 700km) and it has a population of over 5 times that of Calgary's.
  4. Shame, I probably would have placed an order for a Home One...
  5. I really hope so, but seeing as that was the back of the magazine maybe that was just to fill up the remaining space...
  6. Wowowow new printed pieces!! Overall this looks like one killer impulse set.
  7. Nice to see another Victorian here! And you must be the first Australian I've met who barbecues shrimps You and your son should come down to Melbourne to visit Brickvention next year
  8. Those are spot on, well done! I wonder if this will lead to a new Galidor-themed MOCcing fad....
  9. Touche But seriously, I don't think this email looked spammy at all, as meschepers said, how would anyone else know that I had requested the books? I suppose better safe than sorry though.
  10. I think it's highly unlikely an email like this would be spam, since LEGO has sent the email only to those who requested books. I got one myself and have filled out the survey. Firstly, the company is Danish, and LEGO's communications can often sound a little strange, I've found. Secondly, even your grammar is slightly off, seeing as you can't spell "grammar". I think you're being a bit paranoid.
  11. I did a small trade with Cutlass Iz a while back, but never mentioned it here. +1 for Ms Iz!
  12. Nice comic! I agree, every toysrus I've ever been in has had a terrible sterile, superficial atmosphere. The whole place is filled with cheap garish crap. It is indeed a hellish place.
  13. I think it's great LEGO does this survey so often. I said I'd like to see further improvements in quality (I think it's been getting better recently, but there's still a way to go), and more printed parts (this is also happening, with sets like the big Buzz). I ticked the box about releasing old and rare parts again. I wonder if they could say "We'll produce more straight monorail track if so many people sign up beforehand so that we're going to sell x units", a bit like LUGbulk. This sounds sort of unlikely though, since I doubt they would produce parts in Old Grey, and compared to the rest of their business it's a tiny market they would probably not want to worry about. But we can always try and cross our two minifig fingers...
  14. Those prices are quite fair IMO, and what I expected. Although seeing them there is starting to make me wonder how I'm going to afford all of them...there's just so many excellent second-half-2010 sets! What with the unpredictable sales that are around here these days, where one pays RRP one day and 30% off the next, I guess I'll just wait until there's a dramatic sale, unless there's a danger of missing a set completely. Look mister, I can guarantee I'm younger than you, and to be perfectly frank your 13375P34K is just pissing me off. I'm against the degradation of the English language because I'm proud to speak it. I'll tolerate Sieggy's typo because he didn't mean to do it, but your babble is something you could fix easily and it wouldn't take you all that much longer.
  15. These ostrich-centaurs can be a whole new faction for castlers! The cost could be a bit prohibitive though...
  16. Ooh hooray! I love LEGO bicycles and would love to have a whole group of them in different colours, but unfortunately only the red one has been about in sets recently. Maybe LEGO should switch every few years? If we're getting a new set with a bicycle, it might have something to do with that public transport hub TRU exclusive set (the one we voted on). A new coloured bike could definitely be something done to make the set sell. However tan is a bit of an odd choice of colour; I would think that a lime or orange bike would be a bit more realistic and flashy.
  17. Hi, yes I'm setting aside money to grab lots of HP when it goes on sale too! I just hope I don't buy a whole lot and then see it cheaper later on... From where in Australia do you hail? I'm in Melbourne. Whittleberry
  18. I agree, that's terrible! He should know it was reserved, so it wouldn't have been impolite to ask him about it. I just hope he's not an AFOL.
  19. There was a day a few years ago when I picked up a whole lot of 12v train stuff at a garage sale fofr $50, and then I went to buy my Green Grocer for 20% off. That was pretty good :)
  20. No Svelte, I saw 5 of them in the Chadstone store with my own two eyes! I already have one from when I was in the UK at Christmas, and I'm not getting another. But for those who are, I don't know whether the best approach is to wait til sale time or to grab them now while you can. I also went to the build-a-bunny event, which was good! They should do it every month since there are no LEGO Stores here :/ YG-49, which Myer is that? I love it when LEGO sets up displays, but they don't do it often now here.
  21. As posted above, Fire Brigade is now at TRU for 249.99!!! And that's not on sale!
  22. There have been quite a few topics on this: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...1&hl=london http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...2&hl=london http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...8&hl=london
  23. Oops, my bad. I saw "Easter" there and my brain automatically assumed it was Sunday, since I hardly hear people say Easter Saturday.
  24. Hi guys, I'm having a bit of trouble with Lpub at the moment. It has imported by MLCad file fine, and generated the steps, but when it generates the pictures for the instructions using LDView it crops them all so I can only see part of the image. Changing the scale options doesn't help. I'd appreciate it if anyone who has had this problem could help. Also, how do I create sub-assembly steps within a building step? I watched the video at http://www.viddler.com/explore/anoved/videos/22/ but I still don't understand how to do it from scratch. How do I set that up in MLCad? Thanks for your time.
