That is odd! From the photo I'd say it looks closest to Dark Azure; that's a very rare non-production color for that part, though I have seen it before. Where/when did you get it? The darker blue is interesting, too :) That sounds right, though I don't remember where I heard that name... I just took the Peeron name for that one. Do you know if that color was ever used for anything else? Ah, thanks for the info! I bought the Technic 1x4 bricks from Magicbricks; they were labeled as "Fabuland Brown" there, though that's obviously not the case. I agree, it (and the gears) look like a plastics issue rather than a technically separate color. Is there an "actual" Rust color? This maybe? That's good to know! I'll have to hunt down that eye... do you know which watch sets had those unique colors? Of course! I even have several parts in that color. That's going on the chart now :D I don't think I have that on the chart; I'll have to look at my collection. I used a KKII sword for Flat Silver (?); is that correct? Still, good to know! I'll look for that one anyway :) I'll look for that; I'm pretty sure I know what it looks like. Are there any non-rubber Lemon Metallic parts? I think I have parts in both of those Clikits colors. Are the transparent yellow Clikits parts really different from the yellow Bionicle eye stalks? They look identical to me. I know Light Salmon and Salmon (BL names); those are the 1x4 tiles and the vase base thing next to it. What parts came in the other salmons? And I saw that Maersk Blue was in a non-licensed Duplo set; I have one of those "Maersk" Duplo parts, and it looks markedly different from regular Maersk, but that might just be yellowing. Do you know anything about this color? Thanks so much, Aanchir! It really helps to have someone like you to reconcile all of the different naming systems, and I greatly appreciate the time it must take you. How do you find all the official Lego color names, and what they line up with? Cheers! -Ryan

This is my longest-running project, a color chart. I'm using 3001 2x4 bricks as the ideal base sample. At the moment I'm trying to avoid variations within a single color (Pearl Gold, I'm looking at you), unless they are markedly different or a prominent site distinguishes the two. I started with the Bricklink color chart, and added colors from the Peeron chart, BL color notes, and other places around the internet. Color Chart by eldeeem, on Flickr It's NOT complete, and may never be. Here are the colors I know I'm missing, off the top of my head: Red Pink (from Peeron's chart; Clikits only) Light Pink (The only BL color I'm missing) Transparent Bright Yellowish-Green (Similar to BL's Trans-Bright Green, pre-Atlantis) Titanium Metallic (I have this, but forgot to add it before taking photos) Pearl White (Clikits version) Duplo Ochre Yellowish color Please let me know if you know of any other colors, or if you want to trade some of the colors I'm missing! Anyone? Anyone? Aanchir? ;P Cheers! -Ryan H.

The Unofficial LEGO Collectors Guide RAFFLE
Lt. de Martinet replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hmm, a very tough choice! I know I would debate about what to pick forever... But the set that pops into my mind right now (assuming we're not talking resale value!) is the 6991 Monorail Transport Base; ever since I saw that in a small catalog as a kid (I think the set was already out of production), that's been my dream set. I will get it some day! Or maybe a kit of Automatic Binding Bricks. I hear they have some really odd colored 2x4 bricks, which I love. I'd have to look through Istok's catalog to get a good idea of what might be in the vault. ;) -
The internal LEGO Colour scheme
Lt. de Martinet replied to LuxorV's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is my attempt to recreate it in brick, using Peeron's chart, to better see what new colors we might be seeing. The lettered ones I wasn't able to match; the letters below on my chart show possible current colors (all of which are in production this year). A: "Titanium Metallic" B: "Spring Yellowish Green" C: "Lavender" D: "Medium Lavender" E: "Dark Azur" Other interesting things I found: Maersk blue doesn't seem to be on this year's chart, unless E (321 Dark Azur) is Lego's acknowledging that the new Maersk parts are slightly different than the old Maersk parts (11 Pastel Blue). "154 Dark Red" is now "154 New Dark Red". So, watch for a color change in dark red parts. Peeron's list doesn't have 221 Bright Purple, though it was on LEGO's 2010 list too. -

I'm having a hard time making out some of the darker colors... Is the Viking's 3L bar Dark Brown, or Black? -

REVIEW: 7307 Flying Mummy Attack
Lt. de Martinet replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the review! From the boxart, I somehow hadn't even noticed that it included the obelisk. I was going to get this for the figures and the printed 2x2 round tiles -- though now that I know they're just stickers I don't think I'll buy it. I think this is my least favorite of the Pharaoh's Quest sets. As for those lovely minifigures, I'll wait for this: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/853176_Pharaoh%27s_Quest_Battle_Pack -Ryan H. :) -
SNOT is not one technique; it's simply the end result of any of a number of techniques used to put studs on their side. A very nice review of a very nice set! I'll definitely get this one.

I like yellow! That gun turret base isn't a new part -- just Scala: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6942 -
This is cool. I've had a similar one in the works for over a year now (just too lazy to order the couple parts I need), but this is even smaller!

Do you like studs hidden or showing?
Lt. de Martinet replied to Legoist's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I loathe studs. I try to eliminate any showing wherever possible, except for intentional texture. They are very useful for keeping bricks together, though. :D -
It's certainly large, I'll give it that.

Great review! Funnily enough, this set is my least favorite in the entire line so far. I own this set as of today, and It does have better parts than are obviously apparent on the box art, but still not enough to warrant the price point, IMO. I now have two buzzes...

Does anyone know of a build-in-the-baggable set with stickers that's currently available from LEGO? Derek Schin dared me...
-
LOL! I love these Vaders; I traded for mine (sans head ) from some kid on Flickr. So happy, now I have all three chromies!
-
That's awesome. Could I get a breakdown shot of the head? I'd love to build this.
