  3. Today I drove for one hour to a man selling his old Lego. I got to pick what I wanted. This is my catch: You can see 3 antennas, 7 granulate trees, 8 hollow base, 9 sollid base. Then some windows red and white including 1 x 2 x 1 and 1 x 1 x 2, a 3 piece ladder, set 312 instructions and a red storage bin. I paid the man more than 100 Euros. Still I tink I got a good deal. What do you think?
  4. Right now on TCM is the 1956 sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049223/ Starring Leslie Nielsen. A must see imho.
  5. I like it alot! It's almost a MOD for the old 850. Keep it up!
  6. Lego got 1 million views for video of Asperger's boy receiving rare train set: http://www.businessi...me-true-2012-12
  7. Read all about it here. The Friends series did the trick. Really a good result in these times of crisis.
  8. @Gary: This is my 10th post so PM should work now
  9. @CopMike: Great story, thanks! Makes me wonder if any of the factory staff would themselves be an AFOL? Could well be that when you get at home at night after long hours of inhaling plastic dust you don't really have the need to work on your MOC.... :)
  10. I recently came out of my dark ages and now cannot access my BS account. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=Stinky The email address I registered with does not exist anymore and I cannot remember my password. I sent an email to BS explaining my problem but they never even replied. I guess I'll have to go Flickr. And I hate Yahoo.
  11. Wow! That sure would look nice in anybody's collection...
  12. Hi, I'm a fool for original sets but for once I made a mod. You all know the 1968 set #119 right? If you'd want to buy that today you'll need more than 200 Euro's. When you would start looking for all the individual parts to build it, you'll notice that the red gates 1x3x2 and the windows 1x2x2 are hard to find. After I finally got all the parts needed, I tried to make my first MOD. Here it is:
  13. Hello, I wonder how this fellow Dutchman got hold of this set? Would there be any chance that TLC would be interested in buying this for their 'vault' ? One other off-topic question for Gary: I got your cd, the 2006 version. Would that also mean that I can download any new version? Thx.
  14. Your wife looks so much better than these Danes... Awesome project!
  15. Oh I forgot to mention my train movies on Youtube. Here goes: Demonstration of the pole reverser and signpost. One of the more expensive sets I own, the 113. My latest creation: a ride with the 723 and 12(!) 130's.
  16. Hello, my 2nd post here :) This topic is right up my alley! Or was. Long long time ago I tried to create all classic sets in LDraw. I put the dat files on Brickshelf. Here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=37168&n=0 At the time my rendering skills were not perfect but the dat files should be ok. Feel free to add them to your list. Image
  17. Hi, My name is Jan Folkersma and this is my first post here. So I live in Holland (aka The Netherlands) in a small village near Breda in the south of this small country. Born in 1966 (yes I'm that old) I was brought up with Lego. I think the first set my parents got me was the 331. Much later, for my 8th birthday I got the 12Volt 723 locomotive. A few years later I bought with my own money the first Technic sets 850 and 853. Then I left my parents house to go to University and went into my dark ages. But as soon as computers and this Internet thingy caught me, I discovered LDraw and rendering. I even won the prestigious 'Scene of the Month' contest with this render of my virtual Lego room. Getting out of the dark ages also meant that I began buying all the old sets that I wanted when I was younger but my parents could not afford. I got almost all sets from the years between 1966 and 1974. Many of them in original box. In 2002 I got married and went into the dark ages again... In 2006 and in 2008 my daughter and son were born. At the moment they are getting me out of the dark ages again. First we got them Duplo but now they want real Legos. I won't let them play with my Pat-Pend treasures but I'm getting them new sets. I'm really pleasantly surprised by the quality and playability of this *new* Lego. My wife is also trying to get me to play again since this is what she got me for my 46th birthday: Today I'm buying all the old sets I still don't have. Shamefully I discovered that I was buying sets that I already had so I had to start making an inventory of what I have. This was lots of work but also lots of fun. I found all my H0 1:87 cars for example. Well, that's it for the moment. It's 5 am here in Holland. Hoping to find new friends here and get some good info and tips for AFOL's.
