Hoke awoke in stillness, eyes wide open, then quickly relaxing when he realized where he was: sunk deep into the large cushioned chair as the fire in the hearth crackled and glowed softly. He couldn't help but think he was having a conversation or a dream, but he couldn't remember what it was all about. He stretch his arms, his back and his legs, got up and grabbed his gear. He remembered he was not alone when a whip like tail traced the line on his jaw. Hoke fished out another piece of meat and ran his fingers down Torc's spine and tail, giving it a small tug. Torc opened her mouth and showed her barely visible teeth with a small frill extending from behind her head, but not in a aggressive manner. Hoke did the same, minus the frill, and chuckled. A chill had entered the Hall as the autumn began to set in. Hoke retrieved the fur mantle his family sent him from his pack and fastened the clasp around his neck. Torc re-positioned and nestled into a spot among the fur, leather and mail. He cinched on his back, adjusted his pouch, and shouldered his weapon of choice, and made his way out of the Hall and to the Marketplace to make sure he didn't forget anything.

And all of those multipliers aren't worth jacked when it comes to Ethereal and Ancient enemies. That's why it's a good idea to have multiple weapons.

Hoke nodded to Arthur as he walked away and out of the large Hall doors. He returned to organizing his things, making sure nothing was needed for the upcoming job. His consumables seemed to be in good shape, his gear was top notch, and his selection of weapons was trustworthy. "If only I would have concentrated on this shield more," Hoke thought to himself. As he sat there, Torc's serpentine body clutched around his neck and shoulder, but was otherwise still as a stone. He stowed his gear, and leaned back into the deep cushioned chair, and closed his eyes to rest a bit. He soon drifted to sleep with a small whispering voice nibbling at the edges of his consciousness. Torc listened to it as well, amber color fiery eyes blazing in complete stillness.

Hoke watched Torc as she watched the blue dragon across the way. She seemed intent, but, at the same time, aloof. Hoke let out a chuckle and ran his finger under her chin and down her neck, her reptilian underside felt like silken leather. He looked up and saw a list of names on the questboard and saw one was his upon inspection. "I guess we should check out supplies before we leave," Hoke said as he plopped into the large chair by the hearth and rummaged through his pack, pouch and bag.

We could have received Bonaparte rep in 88, but Zepher's NPC gypped us. Still think that was not cool...

Torc slides her head across Hoke's neck and under his chin. She fixes her reptilian eyes on the other dragon in the Hall.

Hoke reads the letter over the skirmisher's shoulder. "Interesting, to say the least. If I am not selected for this upcoming quest, I may accompany you, if that is not a bother." "Oh! This here is Torc," Hoke says as his fingers twirl the brown hatchling's writhing tail "I paid a visit to the Copper Fox, and he trained me in the Dragoon fighting style. However, Torc and I need to form a bond, get to know each other, before we are effective in battle, so she will be my companion and not my fighting help, at least not for now." Hoke pulled out another small piece of meat and held it fast between his thumb and forefinger, making the amber brown hatchling fight and struggle to earn it's prize. Hoke could feel its purring hiss and a slight glowing heat upon his neck. "In the meantime, I will continue practicing as a Mystic Knight."

Thanks! I stayed ip waaay to late typing that up. I role-played why I did what I did, with Hoke & Torc getting to know each othet. Like a horse, you can't just up and ride. The horse has to grow & be trained. At least that's how I will play it.
