  1. Hoke shrugs. "We can always just apologize," Hoke says with a wink.
  2. Hoke knocks on the door as he slowly pushes it open.
  3. "Thank you sir, looks like that's a place we should check out." Hoke heads to the Hall.
  4. "The Hall you say? What may that actually be? I think we made it to the general store already."
  5. "Just taking a tour around town. We've been to the Tipsy Turtle and Shell Towet. Madame Mihms looks like it's closed for the night. Can you tell us anything else we can see around here before we ship out?"
  6. "Mayhaps we should return in the morning. I am not sure how the occupants would feel having 5 armed men knock on their closed doors at night. Shall we go to Cruster's Castoffs, the Square or the Hostels? Surely someone else is up this time of the evening. If not, we can return to the airship to rest and come back in the morning."
  7. "Mihm's it is." Hoke makes his way to Madame Mihm's.
  8. "Honestly, I'd rather do that last if we are going to do it at all. I'd rather not tear the tavern down while we still have business left on the island. There are still a few spots that we should check out before we go." Hoke looked around at the rest of the group. "What does everyone else want to do?"
  9. "Excellent! This indeed is turning into quite the crew. Yes, there is an airship at the docks. If you want to go there, Lady Umbra or Dr Gioconda will be aboard or nearby. Tell them that Hoke Ablesword sent you. If not, you are welcome to accompany us as we continue going about the town."
  10. Hoke rubs his chin, considering what the naga is saying. "Tell you what Augusta, would you like to join our expedition? We could use your help with the weather and winds, and a knowledgeable ally is always an asset. What do you say?"
  11. "Your copy of Begone with the Winds would be appreciated," Hoke says in a Commanding, yet Diplomatic voice,"as it looks like Ezeran and I could study up some more. Also, take a look at this map please. It's the proposed route we have for our expedition. Can you tell us anything that would be helpful about any way stations, stops, weather, etc?"
  12. Hoke answers the naga Weather Mage.
  13. "Both Ezeran and I are already trained in the ethereal. The manipulations are most likely extensions of what we have already learned, but yes, a copy or two of the book would be great as we could then train others who will follow us on this trail."
  14. "There are two things we would like: First, train Ezeran," Hokes says pointing out the sorcerer,"and I in the arts of the weather mage. Secondly, show favor to the incoming and outgoing vessels, both airships and seafaring ships, bearing the Crescent Union standard. We are currently constructing a way station here as part of our expedition, so you will be seeing more of the Crescent Union around here. We are a peaceful expedition, searching and exploring."
  15. "Pleasure to finally meet you Augusta Wynn. I am Hoke Ablesword, and this is my crew. We are on an exploratory expedition and would like to know if you would be interested in helping us out."
  16. "We aren't worried about him right now," Hoke says,"I'm sure he has something in his own pouch we can use on him."
  17. "Torald, please hand the weather mage your Tiger Balm."
  18. "If the penguin doesn't claim the bounty before we are done, we can come back when one of us is in better shape," he says to the group,"Hopefully the human crew won't want to join in."
  19. "Well, we aren't taking anyone on with one of ours down. Pick him up. We will head to the weather-mage's tower and use your Tiger Balm Torald."
  20. "At least we know what we are up against," Hoke says looking down at Germ and looking around, counting the rest of the merfolk crew,"Do you think it's worth the risk?" he asks the others.
  21. "It appears we do," Hoke says as he extends his hand to shake Captain Winthrop's,"Lady Umbra can fill you in with the details." Hoke turns around and takes stock of his crew. "What's next?"
  22. Hoke sighs as the 'demon' goes down in a heap. "Go pick him up," he says. Hoke turns back to Amelia, after watching the dismal performance of the loud and impatient party member. "No," he says to the navigator,"But the decision, by the group is an economic one, not based on personal preference."
  23. Hoke stood by, impassive and unimpressed. At least he now has an idea what he would be up against if they tried to collect the bounty and the whole crew joined in.
  24. "Well," Hoke says with a smile,"Your captain sure knows how to aggressively bargain, that's for sure, but it seems we have found a crew more suitable to the task. Not necessarily better, but more suitable. Think of it this way: when it's time to return to the open waters, you will have less competition."
