Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"Well, by the looks of things, there will be no civil war. The Houses, as I understand it, have been disbanded. And so has Heroica. Turns out Copper Fox was actually a Wolf this whole time, and a few of the Founders have closed down the Hall. I am assuming their are about to clean out their own house. And somehow we are here..." Hoke leans forward in his newfound seat and peers over into Althior's drink, trying to discern if it was clean enough to order one. "The Lotus you say? It's been awhile since I've been there. I wonder if my 'friend' is still there," he says as he remembers the 3 keys that were once in his pouch. -

Hoke just shrugs his shoulders. "I'm not sure why, but I will be glad when we can leave." "Well, I'm not sure why I am here, but I guess you know what you're doing here," he says with a chuckle as he makes his way over the Prophet. He gives Althior a good solid slap on the back, doing his best to induce vomiting, smiling the whole time, "What in the world brought you here, and why are you like this?" -

Not even looking at the orge, Hoke hands over his pack, but the orb remains hidden within his glove. He stepped in past the orge and took a good long look around. He hated it. The sight, the smell, the sounds. Everything. What a dump. Hoke gives Natnail a passing glance as unimpressed with him as he was before. He makes his way to the side, out of the way, finding a seat barely clean enough to sit on, waiting for other Heroicans to show up. -
Hoke takes one more drink from his tankard, sets it down, gathers his gear, and unceremoniously leaves the Hall.
-
"What gang? Copper Fox has been here at least as long as we have known about this place. Who let him in to begin with?"
-
Hoke looks on in slight shock, wondering exactly what happened.
-
Merry Christmas!!!
-
Because it would be fun. One last Grogmas!
-
So no Grogmas event?
-
Hoke chuckles, wondering what dreams were dancing around inside Lawrence's head.
-
So does anyone want to host a quick FoG run for Hoke?
-
"The 'absentee parents' seemed to be upset their children didn't grow up as they hoped. Unsupervised children rarely do."
-
"Yes! There was. I wish we would have pursued them. Madame Mihm's I believe was the place."
-
"To be honest, I do not believe I have ever seen the Veterans around here, so I do not know who 'leads' Heroica Hall."
-
"It's a true honor to meet you two sirs. I am Hoke Ablesword, former Dragoon and current Paragon in service of Heroica Hall. As far as the Hall, it's not what it used to be. This is it now: empty, quiet, and a lifeless husk if its former self. Heroicans have left for other ventures as job postings dried up. There are no quests, so the questors have almost all gone."
-
"If you mean the semi-mythological Veterans like the Doomsayer and the Walking Mountain....no," Hoke says, looking the dwarf in the eye,"But a veteran who has journeyed far and wide under the banner of this Hall, yes." "Indeed," Hoke says, relaxing a bit and taking another drink from his tankard.
-
"Ah, well ,yes, mayhaps you can help me out with that. Tell me stranger, who are you and what is your business here," Hoke asks as he sets his tankard down on the table, but not letting go of it. (Hoke responds to this one first) "None of the above," he says with a chuckle,"Everyone who passed through those doors was no one when they walked in for the first time. There are 'jobs' posted on that board. We sign up for them and are chosen by the job posters. It's there gain skill, experience, influence, and money, just like any other tradesman."
-
"How so?" "No and yes," he says, taking a drink, and wiping his mouth with the back of his hand,"Would you like to be one?"
-
Hoke takes a seat as he waves to the tavernkeep for another drink. "Not anymore it would seem, no one new at least," He says as he sits down, uninvited,"Hence my curiosity."
-
"I don't know the man," Hoke says. He took another drink, got up, and patted the assassin on the shoulder as he made his way over to the new arrivals. "Interesting to see some new faces in here," he says to the pair.
-
Hoke could only shrug as he took another bite of his food. "Sometimes that's just what happens. What's so special about Eubric anyway?"
-
@Waterbrick Down - Should that read as page #2?
-
Hoke snatches the parchment out of the air and brings it down onto the table. "Hmmm...." he contemplates as the unconsciously rubs his Crescent Union badge with his thumb.
-
"Not exactly what I meant. We've all saved a city or two here, but we've rarely done anything in Eubric to change the political and social landscape. I know a few have helped out here and there, but there doesn't seem to be a united call for change. However..." Hoke says, tapping the newspaper. "When did that change come about? When did we ever let down those we went to help?"
