  1. This is it summed up perfectly. Yes, to us as Lego fans it may be seen as "cheating", but if the consumer is that blinded by fandom they'll buy anything, it's their problem. I wouldn't do this false-labelling myself, but I don't have any sympathy whatsoever for the people buying these mock items.
  2. None of my Crusaders are actually mine- growing up I never had any. These are two of the better ones, though buying from Bricklink and eBay, I can safely say i've seen their torso emblem in all sorts of conditions. Seventeen photos weren't enough? Thanks for the comments all.
  3. You mean multiples right? I want a family of Squid...people.
  4. This set is so similar to the Jungle Duel set from last year- loads of great new pieces, minifigs, and definitely one to buy multiples of!
  5. I think there's been lots of great replies to this already, but I think it all depends on you, the individual. The collector, the builder, the fan that just loves Lego. What I would suggest though is perhaps selling your older Lego to afford these new sets? If you don't use the pieces or are no longer interested in older themes maybe it's time to re-evaluate what you've got, and decide what you're most interested in down the line.
  6. Hey all! This is my first entry for the Battles Contest 2009 currently running over on Classic-Castle. Normally I wouldn't post things for other places here, but it's a MOC i'm pleased with, and the more comments/compliments/constructive criticism the better. More photos can be found here. Thanks for looking!
  7. Hinckley: 2 Captain Green Hair: 1
  8. There lots of nice sets here/coming out indeed- I can get three or four of them for the price of this.
  9. I'm a little late in posting this, but thanks for the review! Ever since the prelim shots released, this is the one Agents set i've been interested in, and those new minifigs look awesome. Do want.
  10. Indeed! I didn't like them at all, so it's reassuring someone was able to use them! I like the roof, the way it's textured is a nice add, and the interior to the lair sweetens the deal imo.
  11. Hey all! This is my entry for the Job Mullers Contest over at CC, hosted by Aliencat and Blue. The contest itself is pretty imaginative and has lots of possibility- it's something that definitely encourages "out there" type MOCs and builds. With rising costs in weaponry and armour, the heroes and villains of medieval times resort to a different kind of equipment to battle each other with. Once the contest is over i'll have more photos here. Thanks for looking!
  12. Interesting development, especially as the Mars Mission sets last year sold pretty reasonably over here. Maybe we'll get them later- the Spongebob sets were delayed until the following year if I remember correctly.
  13. UK's got them too- the prices are surprisingly good.
  14. First- 27. Capt. Kirk - Le Quartier Brique Second- 29. Exotrator - The Pirates of San Pedro Third- 2. DNL My entry should've even be listed, it was nowhere near finished.
  15. Copy/paste job from Classic-Caslte, but I thought i'd share here as well. Theme Name: Heroes (disregard any relation to the NBC mess, but something along those lines) Characters: Superheroes. Capes, vintage comic-book costumes, bright colours, but original ideas and characters. Flying Man, Ironfist, Pyro etc etc, some use their powers for good, others for evil. A professor or expert to help the goodguys and an evil mastermind to assist the bad guys? Conflict: Fighting using their powers, facing off against each other. Agent-style armplugs and gadgetry perhaps, missiles of some sort, and lasers? Magnets perhaps for Flying Man to rescue survivors/the innocent? Each set could maybe have one villain and one hero, and the hero has to save the day somehow? Setting: A city. There's similarities to IPs like Batman obviously, but have the sets focus on structures and architecture/buildings instead of vehicles. Collapsable buildings/trap doors/falling walls etc. Secret lairs for the villains perhaps- a sewer setting? Office blocks, a construction site, airport hanger. Places that could fit into any Lego city, but with the superhero twist- make it compatible with Town, modular buildings or structures maybe? Background Info: Not much, but obviously there's plenty of inspiration in existing comic books and superheroes past and present. Batman, Spider-Man, the Marvel Universe, Fantastic Four etc. The character design of Pixar's The Incredibles is a great starting point, but the theme already seems pretty close to the Agents and Spiderman/Batman already- just build on the ideas present here?
  16. First: 14. Erdbeereis1 - Murder In The Market! Second: 20. Capt. Kirk - Walk the plank, you scabby dog Third: 15. pe668 - Buried Trash 'n' Treasure Again, like I said in the last voting thread, thanks all for a great contest. There's been some awesome entries, and I know i'm leaving with plenty of inspiration for future projects!
  17. I've only seen the photos of the comics, but from what i've seen they look great. On his blog too there's some Mars Mission/Indiana J strips too. TLG used to do comics in the instructions quite a bit previously, so i'm glad they're beginning to return to it.
  18. 1st- 17. pe668 - Colonic Cannonball 2nd- 28. 74louloute - When I grow up, I wanna be a pirate... 3rd- 37. Chrispockster - Swashbucklin' Thanks all for a great contest!
  19. Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, or if anyone else is experiencing this, but i'm unable to access the "View New Posts" option, all I get is this: The error returned was: Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available. Is this related/part of the problem at all?
  20. This is an outrage! As a means of protest for sloppy design, I refuse point blank to buy this set or show any interest in doing so! (Or something!)
  21. Ugh, that truck's awful, and the one-piece jet isn't much better. I'll be passing on this altogether. Thanks for the review.
  22. Season 1 was great, really fantastic. The show felt so fresh and exciting, and so untapped with potential, that it's a shame the second series was such a disaster. Things have picked up this year again, but the writing is inconsistent and the characters are incredibly tedious. The show's creator Tim Kring said originally he wanted to have a new cast/new characters every season- this would've been so much better.
  23. This has been a fun contest, both building my entries and moreso watching all the other stellar mocs arriving from everyone else. Thanks again EB/CP, and good luck to everyone who entered!
  24. Great idea, and it looks really well done. Is there anything keeping the walls in place at the top or are they floating? They're not connected to anything are they?
