I find that strange aswell, i didn't even knew toyworld GOT exclusives? Perhaps they mean Toys R us? Toys R Us would SURELY have at least 1 exclusive, they always do. I really hope endor isn't toyworld exclusive, as there are none that i know of near me Drop ship and AT-OT at K-mart is welcome, i was kinda intrested in that set, but much taken aback by the price. If there is a decent sale, i might pick one up. I already have the death star so meh :P -

Grevious has been on sale for $70 at the K-mart near my work for the past 5 months at least... They just can't get rid of him! :P -

Are sets generally more expensive in NZ? I know our dollar is a bit stronger than yours, but not by much. If it was only say, $150 AUD i would be rapt :P PS: Anyone else a bit ticked at the nerve of lego placing the venator under 'hard to find'? Of course it's hard to find, you only just released it on S@H and it's not in stores yet! -

Anyone see the new indy sets yet, specifically the big temple of doom one? Its one of the only sets i'm intrested in this year (after hearing about the pricing on the endor bunker...). I would assume this one to be around $200, but i'd gladly pay that for such an iconic set ^^ -
Lego pieces don't work that way, but whatever

10195 Republic Dropship & AT-OT Discussion
TheTacoMan replied to Darth Legolas's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Bit of a delayed response i know, but i was asked if i dont think this is the best CW set, then what is? Personally, i think the RGS is the best CW set. The design is amazing, it has a whole bunch of nifty little play features and it has a fairly generous amount of mini figures (even though i would have prefered another clone over ventress). Plus the price isn't so bad. Price is a really big factor in lego sets for me, as a uni student i don't have too much expendable income, so if a set is overpriced for no reason (Like this AT-OT/RDS) i tend to downrate it a LOT - even though the set itself may not be that bad. Bottom line: If it was $100-150 AU cheaper it would be the greatest CW set EDIT: As stated before, at $20 for 4 clones in a BP, the fact that this set has more clones is negligible. -
10195 Republic Dropship & AT-OT Discussion
TheTacoMan replied to Darth Legolas's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I never said it didn't have his approval did i? I just said he had very little to do with it. Basically, someone shoved a script under his nose and he gave it the thumbs up, probably because sales of EP 3 SW toys were starting to dwindle and he wanted more money If you think CW was better/as good as ANY of the SW movies (yes, even the PREQUELS were better) then you don't deserve to be a SW fan. Also, the old cartoons on cartoon network were MUCH better than the new series, i can't understand why they didn't go with that animation, instead of this horrible CGI EDIT: If you are 14 years old or under, you can be excused from thinking that the CW movie is better. Re-watch the originals when you turn 18 and i guarantee your opinion will change -

Yeah, i was thinking about adding some shelves - although from what i'm seeing, fitting in a nice big bookcase somewhere would be the way to go - the sets look nicer that way and i would assume they collect lest dust (That darth vader on top of my computer, his helmet is practically white from dust...) -
10195 Republic Dropship & AT-OT Discussion
TheTacoMan replied to Darth Legolas's topic in LEGO Star Wars
No way hoze. This set is horribly overpriced, and nothing we haven't really seen before (we've already got a dropship and an AT-TE). Frankly, I'd rather buy a drop-ship and an AT-TE - more pieces, better figures and better value! Also please take the 'George Lucas will frown upon you if you vote no' off here, George Lucas has so little to do with CW it's not funny, part of the reason why the new movie and cartoon are so horrible -

Thats kinda sad but also acceptable, the other half of my room has various transformers/other toys scattered around Cody i have about 10 clones inside the drop ship on my desk - not much of an 'army' but meh. Here's a shot of my desk - note the old school vader and super battle droid behind the sword! Only my favourite transformer - star scream - made it to my desk - i'm just running out of room too fast! Newest editions - Ryu and C. Viper figurines in front of my screen (Sorry if i'm getting a little off-topic) -
IDK about you, but i'm 20 and i love playing with my Death Star XD. Plus im sure no kid would be able to afford it... $600 was even pretty steep for me!! Plus the death star is PERFECT for display, even if you don't touch it or use the play features. I keep mine proudly on display in my room, and everyone who comes over instantly recognizes all the scenes

As mentioned, the DS doesn't come in the UCS design box, but is most certainly a UCS set. I guess we will simply have to go with 'whatever is listed on the LEGO.com website as a UCS, is a UCS', since lego seem to change their minds about what a UCS is almost every time a new one is released... I still stand by my belief that the only people who buy UCS are ULTIMATE COLLECTORS (of either star wars or lego)
-
It should be the same price as the battle packs, really. 4 mini figures and i doubt more pieces than a BP would include...
-
My sentiments exactly, it would be nice if we got even one or two of those droid battle pod things that were in the AT-TE. TLC: TOO MANY CLONES! NOT ENOUGH DROIDS! I would REALLY like to see TLC republish the MTT as they have recently done with the x-wing. A single one of those would perfectly fill out my droid army
-
Pay heavy attention to the words involved in UCS. Ultimate COLLECTOR'S series. Sets in the UCS range are meant to be huge, pricey and very, VERY complicated to build. They are meant, as the name would state, for ultimate collectors. I doubt any child or 'casual' lego collector would be able to afford the new UCS (AT-OT and Drop ship), let alone the paitence to build it! When i was building the republic dropship, my little cousins were over (10 and 12), and while they are HUGE lego fans, they quickly grew bored and tireless of the endless sorting, and left me alone to build their own random stuff before i even got to page one on the manual :P. The Death Star, in my opinon, is the greatest UCS ever made, not only is it a star wars fan's wet dream, highlighting EVERY important scene that happened in the death start in detail, but it is also a lego fan's ultimate creation. Every little play feature, or cleverly arranged series of bricks is a marvel of lego engineering, from amazing things like the elevator down the middle to something as simple as the way the bricks are overlaid to make sure the foundation is sturdy as a rock. So yes, the new AT-OT + Dropship is most definatley a UCS, since 99% of the people who will buy it will be either ultimate star wars, or ultimate lego collectors. PS: IMO, i prefer the UCS's with play features and minifigures compared to the immaculately detailed models (with the millennium falcon blurring the lines between the two)

Sorry for the double post ><

Just wait until about a month after it's release and look on ebay - i promise you you will find a set for about $300-350 AUS, and you won't have to pay lego.com's LUDICROUS shipping charges. However, considering that the republic dropship was $179, and the AT-TE was $149, having the combined set for $400 seems horribly uneconomic, if anything, I'd expect it to be cheaper than the two sets! BUT!!! Since it is a clone wars UCS, and because mostly children buy the clone wars sets, they won't be able to afford this set and the price may drop drastically, like the general grievous UCS. If you want proof, go into any store that sells LEGO and you will ALWAYS be able to find republic drop ships and AT-TE's - because the kiddies can't ask their mommies for enough money for them. Bottom line is: If you are paitent, it will pay off Better go back on topic before Kimt comes at me with angry off topic posts (although i do believe small discussion on prices is warranted in this topic) I hate how they throw arbitrary clones in almost EVERY separatist pack, but there are hardly ever arbitrary droids in the republic packs! I have too many clones! I want more droids, and the assassin droids are shithouse. I might have to buy 2 separatist shuttles just to get a droid army going, i was going to buy a couple tank droids, but i would much rather if they put in a couple super battle droids instead of more clones and some stupid 'play feature' which is basically a lego see saw.

Erm, IDK about you but i play with my UCS Death Star (The new one) all the time! The AT-OT + Drop ship is a WOUNDERFUL UCS - even though i am an OT fan through and through, i am actually excited at this CW UCS, as i am a huge vehicle fan and this one looks great. The piece count seems to be similar to the Sand crawler, and the price point is about the same correct? EDIT: Kimt, can you kindly point me in the direction of this topic about 'what makes a UCS'. I've looked around but i cant seem to find it

Get that UCS death star out of the bottom corner and out somewhere in the open, the hands down best lego star wars set ever needs to be displayed proudly! My LEGO star wars is not really 'displayed, its just sort of randommly cluttered around my room. Here's a shot of it: I know its not that big, my spark for lego was only rekindled late last year after a 6 or so year hiatus -
Wow, that temple of doom set is AMAZING! I hope its at a similar price point as last years temple escape set. All i am hoping for now is a tomb of the Holy Grail set, and then i can have three of the most iconic scenes from each movie on display next to each other ^^

Was posted earlier alongside something else (i forget what). Was interesting to see them reveal the new UCS at the toy fair, yet have no mention of the mid scale falcon? Perhaps they are saving it for next year?

Got Darth Vader's tie for $40 today with the 15% discount! Good stuff! PS: Has anyone seen last year's x-wing anywhere? I've been dying to get my hands on one -
Actually, it doesnt look much bigger than the mini-TIE in the UCS death star. It would be cool if it fit, could make for a variety of DS rleated MOC's XD
-
Uhhh, wasn't the Death Star 2008?
