  1. I'm not confident in believing they actually have the Heavy Haul Train in stock. We haven't gotten any box pictures of the set or new information for a long time. Did you take pictures?
  2. I'm a little disappointed with the 89.99 CAD price for the Blue Power Jet. Seems a bit high for Creator.
  3. The Flickr App still works fine on my Android Phone. I find with each update Flickr has become less user friendly. Its irritating that the default screen is for Camera roll now instead of Photostream. Oh well. We've survived worse updates like when they removed notes.
  4. This is an option. http://www.bigbenbricks.com/products/products.html
  5. In terms of MSRP Canada tends to fall right in the middle. Significantly more expensive than the USA but still not as ridiculous as some countries. Within Canada I've had the most luck getting good deals in small towns. Less people and even fewer people that are seriously into Lego. Can get some decent sales when stuff sits on the shelf for a long time. In one tiny town I found original harry potter sets years after they went out of production in a pharmacy.
  6. How would a train even use a steering wheel? Is it just a speed control?
  7. I too bought the new Lego train set. IMG_20150507_201253479 by .The Black Rabbit., on Flickr
  8. I feel like the Lego Movie has done more harm to our hobby than good. I find the large Lego pop culture mosaics that get the casual crowds attention are rather dull and lacking skill. Galaxy Squad was one of the best themes in recent years.
  9. You would probably get better value by ordering mass amounts of bricks from Bricklink to avoid wasting money on pieces you won't use. For building crusader themed castles this set is excellent. Plenty of tan bricks which are normally difficult to acquire in large amounts.
  10. Good to hear. Strange thing its only 15% though. Usually they have all of their Lego 20% off for months at a time.
  11. Don't worry about buying sets that include lots of foliage. If you have access to a lego store you can get that stuff in huge quantities from the pick a brick. They are the sort of piece that come in a lot of sets that you can accumulate over time. I'm currently in the process of getting into trains. 60052 was a pretty good parts pack for getting started in the theme and it seems a bit better than the next cargo train they are coming out with.
  12. Breakdown did you have a breakdown or something? What would cause someone to get into eating glue? I somehow imagine it to taste like melted marshmallows. When I'm building I won't have food with me because its horrible messy and takes up too much table space. I'll usually make myself a Dark & Stormy or a San Pelligrino & Vodka just to make building the set feel a little more special.
  13. The pick a brick wall is one of the few things that makes the Lego store a special experience compared to other alternatives. If they continue to water down the pick a brick wall I can see myself quickly losing interest.
  14. I was really disappointed when I saw what they did to the Pick a Brick in Calgary. Decreased selection size due to their new overpriced "Build a Model" and less opportunity for weird things like horses to show up in the bins. The bin the had filled with random pieces from old sets also appeared to be missing and will be sorely missed.
  15. It shouldn't be too much trouble to add steam to a engine. I would try and find an old E-Cig or one of those mini-humidifiers from the dollar store and use that for your boiler. I'm sure a lot of the plastic on those can be taken off making it compact enough to fit inside. I don't know how you would set up the electrical though. The humidifier would be something like this from Deal Extreme -> http://www.dx.com/p/...29#.VSnck_nF-kE Edit: In the video cgarison linked it mentions the type of smoke generator is a Seuthe nr 6 smoke generator. They look like they can be a little pricey but its far more elegant than the mess I suggested.
  16. You could consider it a very loose schedule or pattern. Because its a single exclusive set they can strategically release it when it makes the most sense rather than put it in with a summer/winter wave. I guess that could explain why its inconsistent with the month of release but in terms of years it has been a consistent 2 year gap between releases. I consider myself an optimist with experience in disappointment
  17. Wonderful layout. Judging by the cobblestone brickwork im guessing you also found copious amounts of 1x1 round tiles in pick a brick. I've got 100's of them now. I'm most intrigued by the crane. Do you have any intention of motorizing the winch and turntable inside? It looks like you would have enough space to fit a battery box, receiver, and motor in the grey box section. You might have to use some clever gear work to get everything functional. I'm not 100% sure about how possible it is to make the entire crane move on rails though. If you were willing to make a few visual sacrifices you could power the wheels with a pulley. I wouldn't be skilled enough to make it all work but its worth thinking about.
  18. Don't listen to any of these peoples words of caution. Just jump in there and go for it. No longer is the saying "bricks before chicks" relevant. Now you can have both!
  19. Are you sure the person is actually a lady and its her in that photo? Did you actually have a conversation with this person or was it merely a transaction? Sending random pictures sounds like the kind of thing I would do. I feel like you need to find a new dating website to go on as Bricklink usually isn't the first place people go to for love. Well that's not entirely true as we all go to Bricklink for our love of Lego
  20. For the first time in my life I'm sitting here wishing I were daft. We're on a one every two years schedule for these trains. The dates that the first 3 trains were unveiled varied widely so its possible that we could see an announcement anywhere from now to September. I've found in recent years Lego has surprised me with a few very sudden releases. Before was enough leaked information that we could know what an entire theme looked like months ahead.
  21. I've been considering getting a suitcase and putting foam lining and separating walls in it for when start making my own trains. Think of it as being similar to an instrument case. I'm in a phase of my life where i'm not settled and I think it could be a good way to keep the rails and engines together. For now I just keep them on the back of my desk because they don't take up a huge amount of space.
  22. Parisian Restaurant was a very enjoyable set to build. It was large enough to be satisfying and had enough detail to keep me interested. While building it I was watching through a few walking dead episodes. It was an emotional roller coaster. When I was younger more memorable sets to build were the Dwarves' Mine and Stealth Hunter. Its not so much the sets themselves that make it an enjoyable build but the outside factors like how old I was at the time or how I got the set.
  23. Broken pieces is a weird issue for me. I never want to throw them away because they are still Lego bricks even in their current form but for what I build their usefulness is very limited. Minifig elements I will often continue to use like normal. For example the old Ice Planet visors always ended up losing the antenna but they still looked fine and even match with the newer incarnations of that piece. Like most people here I am very gentle with my Lego so most of the breaks are due to a design flaw in the brick itself. I have a corner of shame in one of my drawers for all of the broken Exo-Force ball joints and clips.
  24. Mocpages yes. Flickr no. You can't really judge Flickr as a whole because it's a platform for multiple small Lego communities. Some of the most talented builders use Flickr as their only place to display their builds.
  25. I fear the day that the commentators from Reddit's Lego group come here. Eurobricks is my definition of a mature Lego group where original ideas and opinions are shared. Most of the other Lego communities I've experienced don't share the high standard for content that this forum holds.
