  1. Jennifer Walters Esq. Constrictor Doc Samson Quasar Connor Hawke (Is that bow working? I really like it, I dont like how the official bows look while being held)
  2. Robocop has over 20 points of articulation, and is sturdy enough to be posed in many different ways He comes equipped with his signature gun the Auto 9 He has a built in Lego Litebrick My goal was to create a Robocop build which was highly poseable, had an integrated LED and featured many of the iconic details of his design (hydraulic ankles, chunky forearms, the high shoulders). I think I reached my goal.
  3. do you like flesh parts? I've got a bunch of Super Heroes and other licensed set heads, I'm trying to find someone to take them off my hands in the form of a trade. Rough estimation, to buy all of what I'd offer wouldn't quite equal $27, but I'd be willing to throw in more stuff. Have lots of yellow flesh era Star Wars I'm looking to trade as well, lots of ships. Its ok if youre not interested, just really need to find a home for these heads, they are a custom purist minifig maker's dream, its all good stuff.
  4. He's stll president of something at Image comics, despite being almost universally reviled as a comicbook creator. He must have made a ton of money in the 90's.
  5. From a marketing standpoint, IP sets are good. They have allowed lego to grow as a company in ways they might not have without them, yes, I agree with that. For me part of the essence of lego was that no one could be mad at it, how could you be mad at a cute little yellow, square, androgynous person with a smiley face? But you most certainly can be mad at Prince of Persia sets, a (great, lol) movie about the middle east starring white actors, translated to white legos. Or maybe the lone Ranger, another great movie starring a white actor as a non white person who is somehow brown when they are translated to lego. Anyone else super prepared for how good a movie Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles will be? I think it was wise to make Star Wars lego, Star Wars is pretty infallible, who could be mad at that (girlfriends and wives)? But it kind of opened up a flood gate of questionable stuff, like flesh tones, printed on curves on women, and bad movie sets (in case I wasnt clear, lone ranger and prince of persia are terrible films, and I anticipate TMNT will be as well) I think lego maintains and expands upon its original line as well. There has not been any reduction in quantity or quality in non IP sets, really what scares me about the IP is a change in the fandom, if the most common lego fan becomes the Hobbit fan who buys sets to sit on his desk, a big part of the essence of lego is lost.
  6. LOL, you refute what I say, but then elaborate and confirm what I say. If its meant for adults, contains the word "collector" and is exclusive to only certain markets it is indeed "rare" if they were not they wouldnt appeal to "collectors" and there's no denying that they are expensive. So please elaborate on how Ultimate collector series does not at all equate to rare and expensive. Show me one set you consider UCS, that is under $100 and can be bought at any walmart or target.
  7. Its just a label for sets that are more exclusive and therefore appeal more to "collectors." It can literally be anything that lego limits availability of, like lego store exclusives like the sandcrawler. I love how people are all like "its whatever you want it to be" lol, it is 3 words each of which have a clearly defined meaning, however strung together means nothing more than "rare and expensive." Its not whatever you want it to mean, its whatever's rare and expensive. I wouldbnt even waste my time explaining this typically, but I see ya'll having an argument over nothing and well, It pulled me in.
  8. Very macabre, love the dead mermaid on the dinner table.
  9. it seems to me the essence of lego has been lost to IP. More people are becoming interested in lego for the "collectability" or "display purposes." The Ecto-1 set is a prime example, I am a lego fanatic and a huge ghostbusters fan, however, $50 for a set containing just enough bricks for a car, does not sit right with me. As more and more sets are based on IP, and as Ideas proves that that's what people want, I predict a change in lego from this thing regarded as educational and good for kids, to just another toy based on an action movie. This is not a lack of creativity on Lego's part, it is the consumer, apparently we want this. What I see happening is very similar to what happened to comicbooks in the 90's. I see posts on Reddit's /r/lego along the lines of "should I leave this in the bag, will it be worth more?" This to me is the death sentence of creativity in lego, as it was in comicbooks. The essence of lego was complete creative control. Figs were not gendered, race was never established, characters were created by the consumer, rarely by the company. We lose a bit of this essence with every new year of IP sets. Ya know why there is a gender and race imbalance in Lego? Cause there is in Hollywood, and thats who lego has decided to pair with.
  10. Ya know, I was so busy being stunned by the fact greenpeace would do this, I didnt even realize how flat out wrong they were, not surprising. Good job stating the facts.
  11. well thankfully I'm not the only one who sees a connection here. Its outrage, blame anybody but yourself, social justice culture. Lego is hot right now, therefore it is to blame for gender imbalance and climate change. When you see it spelled out like that "lego is responsible for gender imbalance and climate change" it seems preeeeeeeettty ridiculous doesnt it? There is nothing left to say about this set, its a fine set, it has some really neat ideas but its been said. If this cant be a place for healthy discussion, shut the thread down or move it. We are adults mostly, we want to talk about the world and how our favorite things impact it. Some of us cant do it without resorting to condescending words, but like, I'm american, in my culture, you're free to say ignorant condescending things all you want, so I dont mind.
  12. guy, you gotta quote who you're responding to. I know you think you're clever and you think you might be making someone else look less clever, but we dont know who, so its not working. Also, you're lucky if these people know who rodney dangerfield is let alone larry lujack. Where have you seen misogyny in this thread? Quote those examples please. There was one poster who suggested making a set specifically any gender is wrong and some people myself included who agreed, thats not misogyny. Give examples, it is necessary to proving your point. The example that most of your coworkers are female is not an example of anything really, most of mine are too, no one in this thread has ever said anything along the lines of "women cant _______."
  13. Why do we literally wait till something is as popular as its ever been, then blame it for everything? Rabble rabble rabble, A lack of female lego are the reason women arent equal and their ties to Shell are the reason polar bears are dying. Lego are misogynistic nature haters guys, its true. I'm a mountain man, I live in nature I love the environment, and I am aware of so many things that threaten it, stop finding something to blame and take responsibility. You know how to reduce carbon emissions? Get solar panels, buy a prius, wtf does lego have to do with that at all. Wanna know how to make women more equal too? Start treating women like equals, its got nothing to do with toys people. I know most of us arent clueless enough to get behind this greenpeace thing, but a surprising number of FOL's have gotten behind the gender imbalance thing. As a builder of MOC's and a customiser of minifigs, I would always love more diversity, but like, in all honesty, I have never felt an imbalance cause I have always felt I could make more female characters, and they dont need to use "female" torsos with printed curves and boobs, nor do they need to use "female" heads with pouty red pursed lips all kissing atchya, thats brickin' misogyny right there. Sorry ya'll I know this is about the polar bears and I kind of made it about two things, lets just stop trying to solve the worlds problems with lego, and try solving them with our actions, nah mean?
  14. oh thats a great body for kid loki. I also thought the official loki wasn't green enough so I gave him dark green arms, it helps a little.
  15. I dont see how you think I may be "over sensitive" when you reiterate my point, are you also over sensitive? All I said was treat women better, and women will be more equal, dont bother with toys, because they're toys.
  16. I'm not even sure what you're saying. Can I take a guess? "My wife and I think this is a stupid discussion, so uh, can you guys stop?" yeah man it is just a toy, but we arent all children, and life aint that simple for us. I care and want to discuss this cause I do feel strongly about gender equality, i want people to stop making it about toys and media and start making it about how you actually treat people. The media and how women are represented in it shouldnt matter, mainstream media is all filth that depicts anyone and everyone in the most stereotypical ways, lego used to exist outside of that mainstream as all figs were one color representing all races and had one body type representing all male and female bodies, it was beautiful.
  17. Right, thats why I am an actual G.I. Joe today, cause as a kid I identified with them so heavily. Sorry to clarify, I am not a soldier or anything close, that was sarcasm.
  18. Taskmaster is my favorite villain and MODOK my second, and I still wont buy that hulk lab set, its so expensive and the build itself is very unimpressive. To buy the figs alone is just too pricey as well. Minus the white hood, my purist taskmaster is almost as good anyway. Old skool skull is just as good for me. For kate I would suggest the plain purple torso with flesh (gross) arms purple legs, a young looking female face and bow and quiver in black (im gonna make this when I get home from work) hair I like the old school pony tail hair for her in black (and it will fit with the arrow quiver). or Catwoman's torso (cause its kind of purple) for Kid loki, I'd use adult loki's torso on short legs. Or maybe the Shakespearean dude from CMF (not shakespeare himself, the older green one)
  19. Right on! I found OP's post to be spot on as well, and your point is quite well developed too. The set just feels pandery. It feels to me like the creator felt jaded. She worked hard, became a scientist, and for whatever reason she sought out validation in a little yellow plastic toy and didnt find it. She saw Captain Jack Sbarro and a bunch of dudes with guns and whatever (cause thats what kids like to play with) and was outraged that there were "no" female scientists, when all along all she had to do was have the creativity and desire to just use a plain smiley head, on casual clothes without printed on hips and tittays and call it a female scientist. In making this set, all lego did was take its most basic bodies with tittays and gave them faces with glasses on and called them "scientists" we all could have done that already, minus the sensual womanly curves that not every woman has and the stereotype that they wear glasses (ok, theyre goggles cause shes a chemist I get it, and we could do it with curvy bods, cause we have 2 of these already, from every city set ever). What a win for women cause there's now 1 new sexy lego with boobs and pouty red lips! Get real guys.
  20. Those minifigs, wtf! I was gonna make this my first "ideas" set purchase, I figured, new yellow flesh minifig parts for custom stuff yay! but now I know its not really worth it.
  21. Harry potter peeves head with darker printing and old red space helmet over it.
  22. Thanks Brickmaster, you're right, I did have terra mans body as deadshots at first, but then realized the "t" belt buckle would be perfect for someone with a "t" name. Black tom is kind of a plant monster dude, just thought it would like cool and more plant monstery.
  23. Other torso for Orb Ends of the Earth Spider-Man (thanks to an earlier poster who inspired the use of that armor) New torso for Black Tom Cassiday Hit Monkey Lobo Terra Man Deadshot Hugo Strange
  24. @KCMatze, I realized later that white hands would be better. Found a different torso for him too, not sure if its better, will post and ya'll can let me know. The eyeball head is from series 2 mixels, 2 of them have two each.
  25. Dude, actually, that torso is pretty perfect for purist Heath ledger joker. Too bad by your own restrictions there's no green hair. I'm gonna make an IRL version later.
