  1. so a kids toy should contain depictions of outdated misogynistic practices? Women were objects then, that's why they had to wear corsets, nowadays only cosplayers and pornstars wear them. Quite honestly, you all need to clean the megablocks out yer ears and again need to stop putting words in my mouth. Klinton, aint nothing i find sexy about a toy, it aint on me. I also dont believe lego sells sex, I believe lego keeps up with the times in order to sell anything, everyone else is selling sex. So again, I have laid out an opinion for ya'll reasonably, and your responses are to make assumptions about me, and put it "on me" cause this is all because theres something weird about how I think. Ya know, equality, creativity what terrible terrible qualities.
  2. Its not offensive, its a legitimate political stance. I'm not suggesting Oklahomans are bad people, just that they are very different from I and the struggles in their daily lives are not really mine, it was you who suggested they are intolerant. This is a "you people" thing it is "you people" who put words into others mouths or make assumptions about them, I dont mind referring to those people are "those people" being that the traits I am classifying you under, can be helped or learned, unlike say referencing a certain racial group as "you people."
  3. bro, telling me how I feel, is unquestionably unreasonable. I am from New York, so Oklahoma is basically another country to me, and probably should be given that most new yorkers are tolerant of alternative lifestyles and probably shouldnt be governed in the same way that your people are, I guess I'm liberal and libertarian.
  4. The not white friends character's hair works perfect for Renee Montoya's
  5. presumptuous and wrong, with all the things that exist these days, I promise you there is a member of this very community, who has found a lego minifigure sexy. well, leaves and rats dont deal with gender inequality and objectification, sooooo, nice moot point. I'm sorry I reacted to your leaves and rats comment the way I did, given that this comment is right on point. maybe dont tell me when I'm upset, I am not, I am simply engaging in this discussion. Ya'll are so quick to call everyone complainers or accuse them of anger. I am a very reasonable guy and I'm trying to have a reasonable discussion that is all. However, I am american, and I am socially liberal. If your country aint cool with alternative lifestyles, I aint cool with your country, thats not anger, thats just me speaking my mind.
  6. omg I used the word customizer and its like the only thing I've said anyone wants to talk about. You and Hive need to get a clue and actually pay attention to what I and others are saying before you decide to shoot off. Any kids toy featuring a woman with an itty bitty waste and giant boobs is not ok. That pirate torso might be indicative of a larger woman with larger natural breasts, if it werent for that waist. All I'm saying is remove the confusion, get rid of that hourglass figure and make them square like they always have been, there will still be soooooo many gender identifiers...as if that matters in a world where homosexuality and trans sexuality are becoming more acceptable and gender identifiers are becoming less necessary. Yes men and women are different, but the lines are being blurred and most people are being tolerant of that, why must toys remain stuck in 1950s?
  7. Dude, awesome Fritzel reference. I lol'd.
  8. I wouldnt watch a video review of anything other than a video camera, in which the video would show me a picture of the cameras quality.
  9. Harry Potter line. Its fleshie and has lots of potential for Steam Punk, not so much post apoc though
  10. Hmmmm. Hips and breasts are immediately identifiable as feminine in a sexual context, yes. It is possible for someone who looks entirely male to feel female. it is entirely possible for me (a male) to be attracted to feminine qualities (not looks) in another man. Gender is not determined exclusively by looks. Tittays are not the only thing I find feminine about a woman, a woman's mind is uniquely different from a man's. You might be saying to yourself right now "how do you show what a lego figures mind looks like?" You don't, you play with it, assign it a personality from you own mind, that's creativity and how you're supposed to play. You may want some visual evidence of gender in your toy and I'm ok with that, however, lets pick a feminine feature that isnt almost exclusively sexualized, like body shape. Paradisa did right, there were torsos that felt feminine without having the curves, and I have and will use those Paradisa torsos for custom male characters. What would be acceptable to me is if lego stuck with their own visual style of squareness, and kept bodies square looking. Make them pink or girly looking all you want, and I'll still make use of them for male characters (even if just to make a tranny or something, I know tranny is derogatory and I'm being very social justicey, kinda contradictory but eff it) and I would feel much lees like they were being sexualized. So I'm a straight male with a normal sex drive, when I see the new Research Institute minifig, I immediately see "sexy science lady," being that I believe I'm normal, I think most of those of you like me feel the same exact way. Why should a kids toy be sexy anything? Why should my straight male brain have to be thinking about sex even when I'm attempting to distract my mind from things like sex with my hobby? On the flipside, I am an adult and sometimes my creative fantasies do involve sex, and theres nothing wrong with that right? So maybe there should be some sex in lego? Yes, in your own creations. In lego's marketing (which is for kids) their neednt be any sexualization or gender stereotyping, however companies seem to be less and less concerned with selling sex to kids, and parents and kids are becoming desensitized. I am american, in my country and some others, it has been noted that women make less money than men, yet, they possess higher levels of education and exhibit better learning abilities. I dont believe that this difference is biological, I believe it is symptom of "market research" that suggests to boys that they need to be interested in getting girls and to girls that they must focus on their looks and finding a man. It creates a situation where boys dont focus on learning, and while girls do, it doesnt really benefit them like it should, as when they enter the workforce they are seen as lesser while possessing higher education. I don't think lego is like Bratz or something, but if any aspect of lego was, it'd be the printed on curves. This has been quite the rant, hopefully everyones just like eff talking to Auto about this shiiiiizz at this point, cause I dont know how much I've got left in me.
  11. This. I found your previous comment to be quite illuminating too. Aside from my personal issues with the printed on curves of finding them limiting for customizations, I have also been asserting that this is overt sexualization. I realize that there may have been market research to determine girls wanted the curves, but does this not speak to the problems of gender equality that the world is dealing with? Is this not why women in the work place make less, is this not why school aged boys are learning less than girls? Even toys make girls into objects and reduce boys to girl chasers. Prior to the sexualization of legos, they were like the one toy that was doing the right thing by promoting equality and imaginative play that was not based on appearances. Again to agree with mcccoyed, despite these parts, lego still applies a healthy approach to working through these issues more than anyone else, which is one of the many reasons I love them. I am a huge lego fan, I utilize the pieces we are discussing, despite taking some issue with them (its better to have than to have not)
  12. CMF series 11 Island Warrior
  13. Thanks, though they're making an official one, a lot of people wont be able to afford it, there will still be in value in a purist custom. I've been needing those legs, If I had them, I'd probably have used them too. were like in the same subconscious collective or something.
  14. torso is the older Malfoy from Harry Potter (I think), Hairpiece is from 6713 Grip 'n' Go Challenge.
  15. Great indeed. What legs did you use? Mines got a TLG cape too, it just got really dirty somehow, so far I've only used cape madness to get more yellow capes and a dark blue one, the TLG yellow ones are tough to get man.
  16. Skaar or Sca'ar or whatever was what I was going for, Hulk's son, I couldnt remember his name but he came out of Planet Hulk
  17. thanks, glad you think so, I was a little iffy on that helmet and armor, but I bought the whole Atlantis fig just for MM's torso, had to find a use for them. I don't know, it might be emperor palpatine, I bought it on BL cause it was perfect for DP despite being fleshy (yuck)
  18. I'd like to enlist for Nocturnus. I am Autorazr, a Human Barbarian who stumbled upon a great and terrible weapon, "The Autorazr." Once a worthy warrior grasps "The Autorazr" the two become one symbiotic entity known as "Autorazr." As Autorazr, a human barbarian (name unknown, only goes by Autorazr) posses inhuman strength, agility and speed, giving him the edge he needs to survive The Eastern Darklands. In addition to being "Autorazr," the barbarian had previously been cursed with a solid gold arm. Without the additional strength awarded to him by the staff, he was unable to even lift this arm. Now, with full mobility, it is just another tool in his quest for gemstones, which are used as fuel for "The Autorazr's" powers, the extant of which are unknown. Autorazr is a solitary traveler, but is not entirely hostile, as long as you don't stand between him and his needs (gemstones), he cares little for politics, he will work for hire (gemstones) but does have a decent moral compass, he'd rather not kill innocents to fulfill his needs. Autorazr's quest will see him joined by other magical beings who seek to destroy Autorazr's nemesis, the yet to be revealed wizard who turned his arm to gold. (I'll get a pic of "The Autorazr" in focus eventually, damn macro lens was giving me trouble. Let me know if I'm doing this right, this Historica thing seems so cool I just had to get down) I plan to participate in Mount Up, should be done with my MOC in a few days.
  19. I was going off of Planet Hulk.
  20. Update to Pyro Hulk Symbiote Scorpion Moon Knight MJ in Spidey Underoos Arcade Silk Kate Bishop ROM Space Knight Maskless Deadpool Doctor Strange (not new but I wanted to show off how good a cape madness neck thing looks, despite not being purist) Another Cable, this ones 90's ish Vision (also with cape madness neck thing) Storm (found a better purist solution to that hair) Now some DC Poison Ivy King Shark in his creepy loin cloth thong thing Starfire (added the skirt) Dark Knight Joker Flex Mentallo El Gaucho of Batman Inc. Dr. Fate Brainiac 5 Martian Manhunter
  21. Its not creepy, infact I find the comment creepy. Do the male figs look like little boys cause they dont have printed on penis bulges?
  22. Dude, I just finished my Martian manhunter using exactly that combo of parts, was gonna try to shoot him this week. That Atlantis minifig is not common or cheap though.
  23. man, I saw GoTG today, what a great movie, being as I havent been a fan of the MCU in general this is a real pleasant surprise. That being said, great idea KingPixels, and a great start, would you add a round 1x1 tile in pearl grey to his head? Any of the ravagers could be made using Star Lords official torso, throw all kinds of alien heads on there. Using plain yellow torsos and legs you could do the guardians in jail. I cant really think of anything else.
  24. citizen brick has some bondage dudes
  25. I agree OP. The tonal shift of having the real world revealed killed the movie for me. Thats speaking from a storytelling/filmmaking aspect, as far as the message, I also agree. I think what they were trying to go for is "if you are a parent who likes playing and using your imagination, share your hobby with your kids" but the execution felt more like "give your kid what he wants, even after he blatantly disobeys you and messes up your stuff." People have asked me what I'd do about my lego if I had a kid, answer is simple, I have my lego, kid has theirs. I dont build or display sets, im all MOCs, hopefully my kid would be too, and I'd certainly be willing to trade parts and what not with the little bugger, but my lego will be sorted in my bins, and the kid can do what they wants with theirs.
