I was planning on doing something similar to this and making the manibles larger but include the holes from the UCS

This mod was the main reason I picked up these sets. I had no plans to buy it until i saw this post. I just finished the mod and love it. It was very straight forward and the only extra pieces I needed were a few 1x3 bricks for the middle arches in the pit, and a lot of dark bluish gray plates for the palace extension, and I ended up using about 6-8 1x6 light bluish gray bricks for the palace floor. The 2nd rancor pit should provide everything else you need. I used random bricks for floor support, but they aren't needed. The rancor pit had extras. I'm not sure i understood the reason for pulling the tan bricks from the floor spacing. I didn't need any. I removed the tower from its base and it was a direct drop in to the new floor. I didn't realize the OP raised the rancor pit by 2 bricks. I didn't do this and it's quite cramped. I recommend anyone planning to do this mod to raise the pit height.

Can any of the technic pieces be seen from the outside? I quickly went thought he instructions and it looks like most of them are hidden. I just wanted to confirm before I start subbing parts.

I picked up both yesterday. I plan to tackle this as well. I'll try to report which extra parts are needed.

This mod is amazing. I was planning to skip these sets, but because of you I picked up Jabba's palace last night. Plan to grab the Rancor pit today. Would love to see some detailed shots of the door mod you mentioned.

this build is amazing. great job! curious about the shield generator. I've noticed a lot of hoth MOCs seem to design the generator with 3 rings instead of 4. is there a reason to this? Mind sharing the instructions or internal images of how you made the shield generator? I'm trying to build one myself.

Great looking MOC. Any idea on what it would cost me if I were to purchase all the bricks on bricklink?
