  1. But BIONICLE is not the real life :V That's exactly how I feel about the Splitter Beast <.<
  2. Haha, this is amazing :D
  3. My first set was Lehvak, but I think I'll buy Tahu first, since he's the most iconic Bionicle character :P (also that lava surfboard *.*)
  4. Somebody asked Greg some time ago, does he think if Bionicle was to come back, would it be more "childish" like Hero Factory, Chima etc. Greg's answer: "I doubt it. The target audience for the sets would probably be the same as it was before, and the odds are the communication would still be aimed slightly older. That does not mean the story would be as complex as the last time, but I can't see them turning it into a "young" line either." I know that Greg's opinion doesn't matter that much, because we don't even know if he is in the new story team, but that gives us a little hope that the new Bionicle series will keep the "epic and mature" tone of the original series.
  5. I remember seeing the first version of this model, and I fell in love with it back then. You inspired me to start building a similar female mecha warrior, I started it in summer 2013, and haven't even finished yet This figure is just fantastic, and the new pictures make it look even better than before. Beautiful. You did a great job here, I'm a big fan of your models (and yeah I know that I sound a little like a fanboy right now, but this MOC really is amazing :x)
  6. Oh well, I really said that :x It was more like this whole discussion is a proof that this idea is controversial which makes it not good, but also not bad at the same time. And that is true - what is good about something that makes other people argue with each other? And excuse me, are you talking about the Bionicle universe? Well then, nobody ever said that half of the population is male and the other is female, it was clearly stated that there's more males in Bionicle universe. If you were talking about our universe, then sorry, but Bionicle universe wasn't made to represent our universe. It was made as a background for the sets. Sets marketed towards boys.
  7. No. I said that the whole argument proves that changing the gender of classic caracters (not changing the gender ratio in Bionicle) is controversial.
  8. But Bionicle is not intended to inspire young girls <&v Also I have no idea what your last sentence is about and what it has to do with my post :l
  9. The whole idea of a female Tahu is kind of weird, honestly. @Your Marvel examples: Yes, Gwen Stacy is a Spider-Woman, not Spider-Man. As the last chronicler said, you can't make Batman a woman without changing his name to Batwoman. Antonia Stark - still, a different name. I'm not really familiar with female versions of Nightcrawler and Vision, so I won't touch them. Besides, they are females in one of the alternate universes, while both Marvel and DC have thousands of alternate universes, and most of their iconic characters in those universes remain the same. Bionicle had some alternate dimensions, sure, but in that case they were all part of one canon, one universe. It will be LEGO's first attempt to creating new rebooted Bionicle universe, and starting with such changes wouldn't do them any good. And come on, why would you even want that kind of change? It is not a good idea. It is not a good way to fix the male:female ratio in Bionicle. The fact that we keep arguing about this is a perfect example that it's not a good idea. If something like that happened, even more people would argue, and I'm sure that's not what LEGO wants.
  10. Well, this set actually looks pretty good (except for the wings), it's a shame it's fake
  11. Don't forget about Turaga Lhikan, released in 2006 as a polybag (at least, I think it was 2006 and a polybag...)
  12. Disagree. Let's say, in Marvel Universe, there's plenty of Spider-Men in different dimensions. But they all are the same. Sure, there can be some changes in their history or "adventures", but every Spider-Man is still Peter Parker. Same with Batman - in each series (which takes place in its own dimension), Batman is still the same badass dark knight. The designs can change. But not the iconic marks, such as personalities, overall looks and gender. Same with Transformers (I keep bringing that example, but I find this series really similar to Bionicle), where even the designs change a lot (compare G1 Megatron to, let's say, Megatron from "Cybertron" series - a lot of differences in their look), but each Optimus Prime is still the wise leader of the Autobots, while the Megatron is still the evil ruler of the Decepticons. Their personalities and "trademakrs" remain the same. Things like that don't change, even if all those series are basically their own stories which take place in different universes. If LEGO want to change the classic Toa Mata that drastically, it wouldn't be the same Bionicle, they could as well make a completely new series with a different name.
  13. I don't know, for me Turaga Vakama's mask always looked like it had a beard
  14. @Loki: I still don't find the idea of changing Toa Mata's gender good. It wouldn't really "ruin" the characters, but I'm sure it would make a lot of fans, me included, fell kinda weird with such a change. And I think LEGO knows that perfectly well. I mean, come on. It is a big change, don't say it isn't. If LEGO actually made Tahu a female, I would still buy it. It would be weird, it wouldn't be the same for me, I wouldn't be happy with it, because that's not the character that I became attached to, but I would still buy it and follow the story. And I think a lot of female fans would still follow the story/buy the sets with male characters, I mean, Bionicle has that unique atmosphere and style that it can gain both male and female fans, in my opinion :/ Plus, I think that you're aiming for something that isn't really going to happen. As I said, boys are the main Bionicle audience. That's how it is. LEGO won't do such big changes just for a fairly smaller group of female fans, just like it would not suddenly put more male characters to the Friends line, just to please some male fans (I'm sure there are some), just like it would not change gender of the Friends main characters. And it's not really sexist, that's just how the toy industries work :l And please, don't say that you can't enjoy Bionicle without it having more female characters/gender-swapped Toa Mata. The series is great as it is/was since the day it ended. Plus LEGO can't really please everybody, that's why it tries to please the majority of the fans :\ And if I offended anybody with my post, then I'm sorry, as I said, I did not want to start an internet war right here :v
  15. I'm not saying that anyone says (lol) "I want to ruin your characters, your childhood, etc...", and that's really not how I think. Don't get me wrong I just think such changes aren't really necessary. Sure, we can get a new team, with, let's say, 2 females and 4 or 3 males (it would be even cooler if we got a team with other elemental powers than the classic 6, like sonics, lighting, psionics, gravity etc.), but I don't think that we need more females in the Toa Mata team. They're just classics, and what's the better way of bringing back an old theme than bringing back the classic characters just like we remembered them? I've never said such a thing, maybe you just misunderstood :P Heck, even my main OC (not from Bionicle, but still) is a female and I feel more attached to her than to any of Bionicle characters I've ever created, and I basically like fem chars more. I'd love to see more new female characters in Bionicle, I've said that milion times already, but I doubt LEGO will listen to our "prays". Sorry, but Bionicle is a line marketed towards boys, just like Friends is marketed towards girls. That's how it was, and how it will be. LEGO doesn't need to focus on the minority of fans (girls), but on the majority (boys). That's why we're getting so small numbers of female characters in each series - because they aren't necessary to attract the boys and make their parents' wallets slowly becoming more empty It's a shame, 'cause as I said - I'd love to get more females, especially female villains, but it's not like we can do anything about it...
  16. I think we're going a little off-topic right here :L I was referring to the whole gender-bending idea, 'cause, again (:P), it would be confusing and controversial to fans. Heck, it even IS controversial right now. Proof? This whole discussion, we're just keep arguing here whether it is a good idea or not. And look where this all began - this topic started with pointing out that there's not enough female characters in Bionicle, then everybody agreed that LEGO should fix the mono-gender tribes problem, then somebody came up with an idea of changing Toa Mata gender, and we ended up with arguing if the new sets will be the same Toa Mata or not and comparing Bionicle characters to George Washington or popes. Again, as I said - that's not what Bionicle is about, and that whole discussion is just pointless. I makes me feel kinda guilty, 'cause I'm part of this whole "mandess" :P Come on, LEGO doesn't need such drastical changes to make the new Bionicle line succesful. Of course, they can do whatever they want, but I really, REALLY doubt that they actually even thought about changing Toa Mata's gender or something like that, because that wouldn't really improve anything, and Bionicle would be succesful even without it. And please, for God's sake, don't start a war because of gender of characters created to represent plastic toys in a fictional universe
  17. 1. That's not really how DC and Marvel universes work, there's a bilion of alternative dimensions, while in Bionicle we've got only a few. The main characters in DC or Marvel main dimension remain the same, no gender-bending. 2. And what's the point of two different characters having the same name? If those are different characters, why can't they just simply have different names? LEGO wouldn't do something that weird :/ 3. Karzahni and Nektann are not the main characters of the Bionicle series. Toa Mata are. And there's a big difference between a ruler of a land having the same name as the land that he rules, between two different main characters with different gender having the same name. And yes, it would be confusing and controversial. And seriously, why would you put gender-bending in a toyline? Yes, adding more female characters would always be good and I'd love to se that, but doing such a change with the main characters isn't really a solution. Come on people.
  18. I don't know how many times I've said that, but let's repeat - changing gender of Bionicle main characters is just too confusing and controversial and I really doubt LEGO would do something like that. Geez.
  19. Is he gonna be... BLUE? <:V
  20. The problem is that 2014 beast feet can be used only for... beasts, duh. Nah, jk, but they still can't be used in every set, 'cause they look very, emm... "beasty" I'd say. They'd work out in bad guys, maybe in Onua or, idk, Lewa, but still. And I didn't mean that LEGO should "replace" the 2.0 feet, just give us a new one
  21. But Lhikan wasn't named "Tahu, Master of Fire" and wasn't surfing on the lava in the same pose as G1 Tahu on the box art There's still possibility of him being and character, same with the rest of the team, but it seems very unlikely. 1. We still don't know if it's a reboot, it may as well be a continuation :P 2. But what's the point of changing main characters' gender anyway? It's just weird and unecessary. Bionicle was fine without it, and it would only cause a confusion and a lot of controversy among the fans, both old and new, and I don't think that's what LEGO wants to do.
  22. Then why we could cleary see original Tahu in the leaked picture?
  23. Yay for recolors! I'd also love to see new feet finally, I'm sure everyone's getting sick and tired of the current ones. And some more detailed armor shells/armor add-ons, to give the figures more Bionicle-like look. Also, new colors for the heads, if they're gonna use the Brain Attack Head (wchich is most likely). Transparent purple is my dream.
  24. Orange bones and red armor on Tahu. Just like the old one. Same with the other Toa... YES PLEASE. Lego, make that happen. I would finally use those bones on non-black MOCs without putting armor shells on them :D
  25. I agree that more females would be a good thing, but I don't think Bionicle will "improve" with that. I have a feeling that this series doesn't really need an improvement, it's fine as it is. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see more female characters, and if there were women even in the other tribes, it'd be great, but IMO Bionicle will be great even with or without more females. That's why I'm against the whole gender-bending of Toa Mata, it's not really gonna change anything, only bring confusion and controversy among the fans. Though I'm still hoping for more female (not ugly-looking) villains. Lego, please... :x
