The Solar Sailor will most likely be Clone Wars. All the sets except the TIE Advance that are being released at the start of '09 are Clone Wars. So I expect that most of the sets released throughout the entire year will be Clone Wars.
-
I have noticed that sometimes the sets scheduled to be released at the start of a new year are released early in the year before... Merry Xmas indeed... Also, KimT? Are those suppose to be the pictures of the '09 sets on the first page?
-
The same can be said if it is a clone pilot in the BP. Why not include him in the RAG instead of a regular Clone? And Ifadn, I think you are right. They look extremely similar with the Republic symbol on the head. Perhaps TLG has the Artillery Gun planned for the future?
-
I think I have discovered what our mystery clone pilot is in the Battle Pack. Could he be an AT-TE gunner? The markings match.
-
Still no sign of a Tri-Droid though. I was really looking forward to seeing the so-called "Jet" Troopers that were suppose to be included. Guess we have to wait and see what Summer of '09 brings.

My overall thinking of the '09 sets: Clone BP: Not a big fan. Probably will buy for the ARC Trooper accessories, and trade off the clones. My collections is mainly Phase 2 Clones, and I am not looking to mix. The walker seems weak, like a tiny AT-RT. I may just modify it and make it look more like the AT-RT, only smaller from the TLG's original desgin in '05. Droid BP: What the heck? Five IG-88 looking figs? Not much creativity. I will most likely trade off those figs as well, but I will hang onto the nifty speeders. Those bikes look very nice with the dark blue pieces and stickers of the CIS symbol which I can greatly use for my MOCs. Hyena Droid Bomber: I am curious about the choice of name. Do hyenas even exist in the Star Wars Universe? I had the same thoughts when the Vulture Droid was released. But actually, this is a very neat looking set. Like all bombers, its much larger than regular fighters and I like seeing that. Now I don't have to use my Gen. Grievous fighters as bombers (got the idea from SW: BF II) in my Dioramas . It looks like the "bombs" follow the same dropping method as they do in the Droid Gunship set, which I admire . I'm always happy to add another droid fighter to the CIS Navy. As for the figs, I don't fully understand the color scheme of the Battle Droids. Dark red with dark bluish grey? Reminds me of an old SW fig . But, we get three Jet Droids, so they are fine with me . TIE Advance: I am not much of an OT guy. However, I do like how it is grey and black this time, and not blue and black. Hopefully TLG will follow this idea if they ever re-release other TIEs. The fig is a new print of Darth Vader like the one in the new DS playset, so I'd like to get one of him. AAT: All I can say is FINALLY! They re-released the MTT in new brown and greys, and now we finally have a new AAT to go with it. I'm sure people can find a way to make it tan, and have it still retain the sleek new-ness. I'm sure it is missing the CIS emblem stickers, but they will be added in the end. I'd like to get my hands on two of these, to help with future Dioramas that I may have planned. I love the new dark blue look, it matches most of the other CIS vehicles (If only they did the same with the new Hailfire) Overall, great set and nice build. The top cockpit is higher up, and not pulled back as much as the original was and I like that feature. Republic Attack Shuttle: Most of you are disappointed with this set, and I understand why. But, you have to admit it does look good. I'm happy to see it because I hope to use as Transport for Dioramas. That way, my aerial vehicles will not consist of one Gunship, and a bunch of fighters. I like the flick-fire missile thing on the top of the ship. It looks like an interesting mechanism. It looks like if you push down the missile holder, they are launched through the opening at the top, and so you really don't have to "flick." The figs seem alright. I'm not a big fan of the animated faces, so I'll most likely trade off all the figs. Maybe not Windu though, but only in the case that he has a neat torso.

Well, early speculation about the AAT stated that the set included a "green headed" fig. There were assumptions that it was either a jedi, of Loathsom. It turned out to be Yoda, I guess. I was hoping for a Loathsom fig as well, giving us more military leaders in the CIS.

Look a few pages back, please. A few people have already posted the pictures.
-
Hey, what's a Lego set without the vastly popular flick fire missiles ! Not to mention the fabulous Rainbow missile located beneath the ship.
-
I am comparing the Lego Attack Shuttle to the actual shuttle, and I don't see much of a difference. Most pics of early sets that we do see are usually the same when they are released. The color scheme is correct with the patches of yellow. Take a look: EDIT: Prelim pic. Removed. Sorry no deeplinking It seems pretty accurate to me. Sometimes the only thing that changes in the preliminary pictures are the figs. And I understand the dilemma with the Hyena Bomber. This most likely will make an appearance in the TV series, which I am glad to know that TLG is willing to make sets based off of a TV show. The reason we see no "eyes" is mainly because TLG didn't want to make stickers for preliminary pics.
-
Well thats usually how it is! You can't expect a magazine to have ALL the sets for 09.
-
I don't think we will be seeing anymore pics of future 09 sets (other than those that we have already seen). I think it will be some time into 2009 that we will see pics of the Solar Sailor or more.
-
I would now like to give my price estimate for the 09 sets that we can confirm via Brickshelf. Keep in mind it has been the same pricing for the past two years (07 and 08). - #8014 Clone Battle Pack: $9.99 - #8015 Assasin Droid Battle Pack: $9.99 - #8016 Hyena Droid Bomber: $19.99 - #8017 Darth Vader's Tie Advance: $19.99 - #8018 Seperatist AAT: $39.99 - #8019 Republic Attack Shuttle: $49.99 I am basing this information off of what we all have seen for the sets that are released at the beginning of every year since the Battle Packs first began. These are the same prices that were given to the starting wave of both 07 and 08. I expect we will see the samething with 09.

So does this mean we are not getting a Tri-Droid set anymore? Aww
-
I noticed the list doesn't contain the Tri-Droid, unless it is the blank spot in the large Star Wars portion of the list.
-
Thats why I assume that most of these peculiar sets will be revealed in the Clone Wars TV series.
-
Well, right now this is the only known Droid Bomber Also, thats just what I assume it will be. I never said it was the actual ship.
-
Well, I hope we are still getting a Whorm Loathsom fig. I wouldn't mind getting a new general for the CIS other than Grievous. Also, I have my doubts on a "Nothing but IGs" Battle Pack. TLG would want to open the variety, even though the Rebel and Imp BPs were mainly 1 type of fig (More Stormies than Shadows). Also, the name says IG Assasin Droids. I think this sounds more like an IG-88 pack. Greivous' guards are called the IG MagnaGuards, not Assasins. I also still have my doubts on the Republic Star Destroyer. If anything, I think it is meant to say Attack Cruiser, because it just seems too odd of a ship for TLG. Granted, they made the Rgoue Shadow, but that was to promote Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game. If this is a an actual set that is in the development, and it is not the mini set, then it will most likely be the same as 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer. Also, KimT? You have the wrong picture shown for the Republic Attack Shuttle. What you are showing is a Sheathipede-class Transport Shuttle used by the CIS. Here is what I assume the Hyena Droid Bomber is: I am kind of confused by what is being rumored anyways. Some of this stuff sounds odd for TLG to be releasing, such as an oddly shaped Star Destroyer, and a Droid Bomber. When do any of these make an appaearence in a movie? Unless of course these will make appearances in the Clone Wars TV series.
-
I am very confused here. Are we getting 4 Battle Packs, 2 AATs, and 2 Republic Attack Shuttles now? Also, I don't think we are getting a new Turbo Tank or a Republic Cruiser set. I think those are just the minis that are coming with the Brickmaster issues.
-
I can't imagine TLG putting an end to Star Wars sets. Like, 99.9% of their sales come from Star Wars. Lego Star Wars is great enough that people would actually kill for sets Thinks of Midnight Madness...

I have a few questions regarding the new Tri-Droid, and I'm hoping they are alright to ask. The color scheme for the droid is blue, correct? Do the "turrets" revolve along with the head? For the ball at the top, is it one solid color? Or does it have prints on it to add detail?
