Can we frame this?

I'm curious as to Pretzel would react to Karie. "What sort of devil is this?" "Excuse me?"
-
"Why the hell does everyone in this city know my name? God, it's not like I get around or anything! So what, does the Stealer obsess over me or something? Oh, and about this catsuit, you better watch what you say, because the next thing you'll know it'll be slung around your neck! I'm not in the mood!" Karie tosses Sexy back and forth between her hands, ready to fight.
-
"Well, this is going to be... fun? Let me take Octavyn or the warden. The catsuit will be more than enough to help me avoid these guys. Of course, it's up to you, Boomingham." Karie whips Sexy out in preparation of the oncoming battle.

I like how the ringleader is the most frightening, yet at the same time is the lowest level! Well played!
-
That alone is enough to make me want to go on the quest!

Sorry, wrong thread!

Quest 71 Overview This quest I feel was slightly flawed, and for a few reasons. I had originally intended to have the three new players on the quest, but it seems that my plan fell through, so the fights might have been a little easy. The first fight was to see what you guys could do, and what damage you could deal, which turned out to be a lot. The Shadow Sister's fight was meant to be an example of a Swat Team, very similar to the party, assisting each other and working as a team, which was ruined by the fact that few specials were rolled and there were no spell casters who could dish out darkness elemental damage, so there passive was a waste of text. The Troll fight was a grind, it seems, as I had intended it to be a rough and dirty fight, with the troll binding a target then smashing the party's health for those unlucky enough to be in the front row, or in other words, the heavy hitters. That being said, the characters made up for the lacking battles and the somewhat cheated puzzle. The party interactions were fun to watch, and I'm somewhat glad the party knew each other. It made for an interesting dynamic, especially when Arryana rolled in. The Shadow Sister interactions were fun to watch pan out, and I'm glad Irene's character got fleshed out, thanks to you guys. I plan to do a lot with the Shadow Sisters, so keep an eye out for them. Abbot was fun to roleplay, and his interactions with the party during the first half were great! Players: Johon: You were an excellent team leader, and a great addition to the team! I'm glad we wrapped this up before you left, since the ending was meant to be a twist. Your interactions with the NPCs were stellar, especially with Irene. Also, your decision to bring Arryana along was an interesting choice, and while it did break the quest from being one big puzzle into a series of fights, did help us in the long run. All in all, excellent job! Elgar: You were active, you participated in roleplay, all in all, an excellent addition to the team! Your decision at first to hand the trio of Wolfgang thugs over was interesting, and I'm glad the distrust carried over through most of the quest. That and the fact you acknowledged your inability to heal your party mates was a wonderful touch during the Shadow Sister fight. You were a blast to host, well done! Alexandre: What a jerk! Alex certainly is an interesting character, and a black knight certainly made the group dynamic that much more interesting! The fact you stole everything that the Shadow Sisters were supposed to drop still surprises me, and the amount of Shields and Critical Hits you rolled will probably be the stuff of legend. No matter, you were an excellent addition to the team, and I'm glad you were aboard, and I hope to host you again! All in all, I'm glad I had you aboard, I hope you enjoyed the loot, and I hope to host you again! References: -Abbot's remarks during the beginning about a blue box with a flashing light on it refers to the Tardis from Dr. Who. His other remark about neon coloured horses should be easy to figure out. -The Shadow Sisters' are a reference to the Shadow Sirens from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, with Irene being Vivian, Maude being Beldam, and Helga being Marilyn. -Maude's remark about being the "Great and Powerful Shadow Sisters" is a reference to Trixie from MLP:FIM, who calls herself the "Great and Powerful Trixie!!" -The troll's specials were all inspired by Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. -The whole arc is a reference to The Thousand Year Door. -The items dropped by the troll are all video game references. The Zap-Tap Badge appears in the Paper Mario franchise, and the Stalker's Mallet is Amy Rose's Pico-Pico Hammer from Sonic the Hedgehog. -Abbot's name is a play on "Abbot and Costello". Where's his brother you might ask? You'll have to wait and see... Next up is either Grim Grinning Ghosts 2, or part 2 of the Haerasias's vault arc: "Break My Brother Out!"

OOC: There's no reason to deal with the troll, it was an offhand remark. If you want to get rid of it, feel free to roleplay it! -

"I assure you, if any of you are interested in assisting me further and you have the opportunity, you'll be the first I turn to!" Abbot finishes sketching out the door and puts his notebook away. "Well, in any case gentleman, we best move along. I feel we're on the expedition of a lifetime! Come come! I'll take us back up top, I have to hit the books and see if I can figure out a lead to opening this door. I also got to figure out what to do with this troll corpse..." Abbot takes the lantern and leads the party out of the cave, taking one last look at the door. He fixes his clothes and then exits the cave with the rest of the party. Only time would tell if the secret behind the vault door would be revealed... THE QUEST WAS SUCCESSFUL!!! He brushes himself off and checks his pocket watch. "Blimey, look at the time! It's gotten late! 8:48, I've got a meeting to get to tonight! Gentlemen, do take care, I have an ominous feeling something else is brewing tonight. Goodnight, fellows." With a friendly gesture, he walks out into the misty streets, his cane echoing into the night. The party is left behind the Beyland Enterprises building, with nothing left to do but go back to the hall. EPILOGUE The door flies open as Maude and Helga lay Irene on the couch in the small, cramped room, the wooden boards creak as they walk across the floor. Helga produces a flask of potion as she pulls out her wand and begins to heal Irene's wounds. Maude sits beside her on a chair from the kitchen. "Eugh... eh...." "We never should have brought her in! I knew this would happen!" "Maude, relax. She's going to be fine. It's a nasty whack to the head, but a few days in bed will see her as good as new." Helga puts the bottle on the ground and continues to look at Irene's wound. "Damnit Helga, that was close." "I know." "You know what would happen if she dies!" "...I know." Maude rubs her eyes, trying to wrap her head around what had just occurred. "She cannot realize what happened that night." Maude got up out of her chair and marched upstairs, leaving Helga to tend to Irene. "... I know." And that's the end! Congrats on succeeding quest 71! I hope you enjoyed your stay under my lead, and I hope to see you again soon! I'll have an overview ready in a bit, but for now, you can roleplay your way out of the alley. I hope you had fun, and I hope you you have an excellent summer! -
Karie takes off her armour and wraps the catsuit around her waist, not having enough time to put it on fully. "If we're going into a fight, I'm ready. No way in hell I'm forgetting all this, not when I've got a vendetta to keep."
-
I actually put the Aggressive Troll's passive special just so the rest of the party could get some of the loot I was handing out!
-
You guys really want to know what's behind the vault door?
-
Karie downs a mead from the back, trying to be as unassuming as she can possibly be.
-
Oh hush! The next quest begins the search for the Macguffins of Harmony or something, so you can complain later! This quest is meant to start the story and begin the mystery. I know all of you want to find out what's in there!

Abbot pulls a round sack out of his pocket, jingling with coins. "Oh, almost forgot, 250 gold to share amongst yourselves. A little stingy, unfortunately, but with my job and the things I have going on it's all I could afford." Abbot hands the bag over to Johon. How will the money be divided? OOC: I'll allow everyone to ask questions if need be before I take you back up to the surface. This is essentially the end of the quest, so once everyone's said there peace we can wrap this up. -

Abbot looks about the door, pushing and pulling it, but stops and catches his breath. "Well, I'd loved to... but I don't know how. Hmm... something tells me we're missing something." He pulls out his notebook and scratches something down. "I doubt we'll be heading in today. The doors are shut tight, and we have no doorbell to enter. However, this isn't a negative. We are in fact ahead of more historians than you could imagine! Academics have pondered and debated the vaults existence for decades, heck centuries! Yet, here we are, at the threshold of an archaeological breakthrough! Gentleman, our journey may end here for now, but something tells me that the secret behind this door will reveal itself to us yet! I'm going to have to research this more, but as of now, we are in an excellent position! I'd like to see the Academy mock me now!" OOC: You won't be going into the vault today. Sorry guys, there's a whole arc in the works revolving this door, and it would be a waste of suspense and mystery to just have you waltz in! Bricksandparts, you also have loot to disperse. -

It's a long, hard, gruelling fight, but as the troll stumbles about, wildly swinging it's club, it lifts Johon off his feet and back behind the rock Abbot's hiding behind. As the troll prepares to squish Elgar with it's club, he fires a bolt straight into it's nostril! The beast stumbles about until it's eyes roll into it's head and it drops dead, causing a layer of dust to kick up. Abbot helps Johon up as he walks towards the party. Party Leader, please distribute loot! (Music to go with the area) Abbot brushes Johon off as his gaze shifts from the party to the back of the cave. He begins to slowly move towards the back of the cave at a slow pace as his eyes scour the carvings on the back of the cave wall. A large stone edifice protrudes out of the back wall, two stone columns standing guard. As Abbot gets closer, he strokes his hand through his hair, trembling as he does so. He runs his hand along the carved stone, feeling it's indents and markings. "This is no wall... it's a door." The heroes come closer as Abbot flies through the book he was carrying, looking for a specific page. He stops on a specific one and moves through the columns of text with his finger, stopping on a line, then looking back up. He drops the book to the ground then looks at the party, cane outstretched, a look of astonsihment upon him. "And this is no ordinary door neither. This is the entrance to King Haerasias's personal vault, last king of the Moon Elves." Abbot steps back and stares at the find of a life time. The party doesn't know what to think of the new revealation. What does the party do? -

Excellent! Auto-rolling for 5 rounds! I'll see you in a bit! -
I'm fond of variation among fights. The fight against a group of grunts may have five guards holding swords and spears. The second fight introduces archers. Come the third fight, the archers are replaced by a mage, and the fourth and final fight combines all those together with a tank-type enemy to bash through defenses. At least, that's what I'm fond of.
-
"Nothing. It's dead quiet." Karie looks down the hallway, noticing the door to the sun room. "Who wants to guess that whoever locked the door wants us to go into the sun room?" The inn was beginning to creep Karie out, more so than before. She slowly strides over to the sun room door, and peers in.
-
Do we even need to bring back the Johnson Rod?
-
So what is behind that troll?
