Minecraft Mafia: Day 3 - The Abandoned Mine
Bob replied to Darkdragon's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Where's Hex and Kai? Hex is the only person I can trust and he's not showing up. If there's five of us does that mean there's two scum? Or one scum and one werewolf? I want to trust Valorie, but it just seems too convenient. Also I've received a special item as well this morning. -

That might've been a good idea, but if I verified Hal it would have validated his story a bit. Plus I probably would have gotten a "Not Mafia" result on you if you were indeed a werewolf third party or whatever, which would have defeated the purpose. I don't know what win conditions werewolves have in this game, but I'm more inclined to believe now that Valorie might actually be one. I don't see any reason why Hal would have lied since he's town nor do I believe that the scum would frame people as werewolves instead of as their own faction. Especially considering there's a Seer in the game whose job seems to be finding said werewolf. I mean, maybe it would add extra confusion. I'm curious as to why the scum (presumably) killed Hal and not me. It seems to me that Hal completed his task of finding a werewolf and now had a pretty much useless role. There's several crazy theories that I have though: 1) The scum knew of the existence of a werewolf from the start of the game, but that doesn't necessarily explain why they'd kill Hal. 2) The scum can only kill on every other night and maybe on the night the scum can't kill, the werewolf can. I think that Hal likely would have tried to seer Valorie again last night to confirm that the result wasn't tampered with by framing, so Valorie killed Hal so this couldn't happen. Maybe the werewolf just gets a one-shot. 3) The scum have a role called "werewolf", but I don't know exactly if this is the type of role that scum would have nor do I understand why the town would have a special role to find the scum when I could do the same as an investigator. 4) Valorie was actually framed and Hal got lucky targeting her, so the scum killed off Hal in order to prevent a different result coming back. The rules say very clearly that we need to kill the scum and that the scum are identified as Gate Protectors. It also brings up third parties, but that's boiler plate for every game even when there aren't any so we can't rely off that. The rules do not say we need to kill of third parties which means if Valorie is a third party she could technically win with us, unless her role is that she needs to kill everyone. Where is everyone else? It's only Day Three but it seems like it's do or die day today. Maybe I shouldn't have tied it up yesterday. Or maybe it was a good idea because then there'd be four of us today and we could've been outnumbered. Right now if there's two scum and Valorie is a neutral, it's 2-2-1. Of this, I know the following about the players: Steve: Town investigator Hex: Not Mafia Valorie: "Werewolf" (?) and I know nothing about Kai or Adriene. -

Tried to investigate Hal last night but was unsuccessful, presumably because Hal is now dead. -
Been waiting for this set for a long long time, it's a day one purchase for me. Hopefully they do another set like they did with Friends. Would love to see the coffee shop.

Minecraft Mafia: Day 2 - The First Adventure
Bob replied to Darkdragon's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I will tie it up and: Vote: Kai (Dragonator) For several reasons: 1) With so few of us, I don't know if a lynch is the right idea with little evidence and therefore a tie is the best outcome, I think. 2) I know I'm the investigator, and as a result I don't know if I can fully trust Hal claiming to be looking for werewolves. I'll probably be killed tonight since I've outted myself as the investigator. If there's a protector out there, please keep me safe. I'll think about this for a little bit longer. If anyone wishes to change my mind they can try, but there's not much time left in the day. -

Not sure who to vote for here. Valorie seems the "safe" bet but I'm not sure. It seems Kai is liable to be lynched today unless he shows up. -

But we don't know for sure if that's the setup of the game. -

Hey everyone! Start participating! I'm a bit confused. You agree with Valorie about the lack of two cops but don't think I'm lying? But you're voting for Valorie anyway? Also, historically I don't think cops are told if they're sane or not. I don't think we've had an insane cop in a game in a literal decade but I may be misremembering. -

I'm conflicted as to who to vote for. Half the group has yet to show up today. I'd like their opinions. -

I don't know what motivation Hal has to come out and try to get Valorie lynched when we'll see the results tomorrow. I'm not casting judgement on who is or who isn't lying, but I'm saying that it's odd. -

Not sure what you're on about, but I am the town cop. I am guaranteed sane, and I can see if someone is Mafia or not Mafia. That's very specific, I don't know why it's specified that way instead of. as a Gate Seeker or Gate Seeker. I investigated Hex last night and determined they were Not Mafia. Since there's so few of us I don't see much issue about coming out today, even though it might not have been preferable, but there we are. I don't know what a Werewolf is, maybe it's a third party though. Apparently a seer is used in werewolf games. Is Hal lying about Valerie? I don't know. Perhaps. I think it's unusual that there's two investigative roles in this game of seven people, but it's possible that Hal was included to find Valerie and struck very lucky. Also, when did they add sharks into Minecraft? -

General Discussion and Announcements
Bob replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'd recommend Darkdragon, Fhomess, or I guess I could review it too. -
I think Gabriella put them there if I remember right. The burned pieces of paper in housekeeping was a clue towards you - it would've been burned paper with routing information. The roleplaying at the start was stellar, probably a highlight of the game.

A few, for example the lack of fingerprints matching anyone else on the teapot and that Sophie had a pair of gloves in her room is the biggest one that I can think of. I think that you reached most of them. I don't believe Grace used her bicorder on the engineering panel that was sabotaged. If I remember right, Gabriella used her makeshift fingerprint kit on it. If the bicorder was used, since it was more sophisticated, it likely would have picked residual traces of Arthur using it. As for the timeline of the murder, Arthur cut the ships power while Sophie placed the murder weapon outside of Alfie's door. It was all over very quickly. Ezra attempted to flee, but the sudden jostle of power being restored and the ship moving again caused a piece of luggage to come loose and fall on his head, knocking him unconscious. Darkdragon had the choice of using anything readily available as the murder weapon and she decided on a teapot, which was an interesting choice.

Mystery on the Excelsior Conclusion - It's Over! The Excelsior finally touches down on the Alpha Centauri colony's spaceport, at last landing. Several Space Police officers board the ship and put Ezra into handcuffs while Alfie is removed by the Space Coroner. "I can honestly say I have no recollection of the crimes I'm accused of." Ezra says. "Tell it to the Space Judge." an officer says. "You'll have plenty of time to recall those memories with an Amnesiagone dosage." Grace adds. "But wait, didn't anyone help me? Who else are you going to arrest?" "Yeah!" someone shouted from the crowd. "The questions hinted that other people helped, so who is it?" "Clearly it's Gabriella!" Emily said. "Always being sneaky!" "No, it had to have been Chef Noah!" Charlie added. "It was Jack!" "It was George!" "Well, who was it?" "I don't know if I can say for sure. The evidence we have against certain people is all circumstantial. All we know for sure is that Ezra was the murderer and that he may have been helped." Grace replied "Guess we'll find out in a few moments, eh?" the officer added. "Don't break the fourth wall." Grace said. --- 1) The motive - why was Alfie murdered? Answer: Alfie was murdered by a technologies company that was eager to stop him from releasing his replicator product before they could. Correct Responses: Kristel, Waterbrick Down, Trekkie, Tariq j, Lord Duvors 2) The murderer - who murdered Alfie? Ezra murdered Alfie with the teapot, first breaking it over his head and then stabbing him with a shard that had come off. Correct Responses: Darkdragon, Waterbrick Down, Trekkie 3) Did the murderer have any assistance, and if so, from who? Ezra received help from Sophie Young, who provided the teapot without knowing who the murderer was. Arthur Allan also helped by cutting main power to the ship from engineering. Correct Responses: None (DD and WBD got it right for themselves obviously but they don't count) --- I must apologize that this game went on intolerably too long, to the point where I think it's singlehandedly killed interest in these types of games for quite some time. I originally wanted to host this a few months before I did, but it was delayed. By the time it came around to host it, work had started up again, and I could only check/reply to people during my planning period or when I got home, which slowed the game down considerably. I thought I would be able to host while working, but I bit off way more than I could chew. Mafia games you can sort of let run on their own as long as you check back every couple hours to update the vote count. Mystery games like this require constant host interaction. In hindsight, I should have known better. It got to the point where we were too far in and I didn't want to pause the game and have it end up in the "unfinished games" category. So I kept it going and eventually there were only a few regulars posting. I can't blame people for losing interest and it's my fault entirely for that, I didn't keep the game at a tight enough pacing. This game started back in September(!) but it feels like it's been going on for much longer than that. I think people could tell that I was trying to hurry it along by a certain point. I severely underestimated the attention that a host needs to provide to mystery games. With that said, I did enjoy the stellar roleplay that people had and I did also like some of the private actions that people sent to me. Hinckley turned Gabriella into a psychopath, which wasn't planned but it did make it more interesting. Some people even thought Gabriella was behind it all somehow. Feel free to share your role PM's as well and discuss the game. I think someone else needs to host something as soon as possible.

And that'll be the game! The conclusion of sorts will be up soon/Bob sucks.
