  1. I seriously hate double posting, but seeing as this is an MB-kind-of-fan thread, there isn't a great deal of activity so I guess it's up to me to update it once in a while. Today I purchased the UNSC Hornet set from my local Entertainer. And yes, just so you know, I did get dodgy looks from every parent and member of staff in there. But that may of been because I still had my hood up from the rain outside. Golly, some people stereotype so much! For £15, I personally thought it was a bargain, considering the box is the same size as my UNSC Warthog box, so I expect the same sort of size set, really. However, the Hornet in-game is fairly small next to, say, a Scorpion. In the set, however, this thing is HUGE! Well, it isn't huge as in bigger than me, but it's a decent size, and has a pretty hefty wingspan. It really is a beautiful set, very accurately designed. To be honest I do wish I'd picked this set up much, much sooner. Sadly, I was put off by the fact that the set does contain quite a number of specialized pieces, which if were missing or didn't work right, would render the set useless. There was always plenty of Hornets on the shelf, taunting me, but I'd have to look away. Today, though, I finally plucked up the courage, mainly based on the fact that I didn't want to buy a UNSC Turret (fairly poor design, too many Spartans - I need more aliens!) or a Covenant Ghost (good design, but for £11 I felt it wasn't really worth it, and there wasn't any UNSC forces in the set as well) and that the only other sets from the series were the horrible Spartan Knights Kingdom II-ripoff construct-a-figs and Aerial Ambush, which is ridiculously overpriced at £29.99. So I bought the Hornet, and I'm so glad I did. Along with my UNSC Warthog and Covenant Shade Turret, Brute Chopper and small UNSC Turret, I can now really have some decent battles, which is what I think is most important. While a lone UNSC Marine defends the Covenant forces from an over-turned Warthog and flimsy chain gun, the UNSC Hornet comes thundering in, chin-cannon blazing and Spartans riding on the wings, their leader in the cockpit and armed with SMGs and a Shotgun. The Elite, Brute and Grunt forces have no chance! Overall, this set is definitely the best set in the line that I have purchased thus far, and I'd recommend if you are a Halo fan, you buy it. I'll post pictures of it along with the Warthog, Chopper and Turrets when I can get round to it, as I'm snowed under with art coursework! ~A.S.
  2. Batbrick, what I meant was that it didn't seem quite right. The angels can only move when you can't see them, and as such you don't actually see them move. While, of course, Amy didn't see them, as a viewer I felt that the whole movement of their heads was very smooth, where, if you were, stone, it should be almost robot like. I understand if you don't get what I just said! ~A.S.
  3. Really enjoyed this episode, but I found the scene where the Angels all moved their heads a bit strange. It just doesn't seem Angel-enough, if you know what I mean. Loved the bit at the end. Go on, Amy, getcha some! ~A.S.
  4. Oh, the figures are incredible. Beautiful detailing, new molds for each new unit (character) and very, very Halo-like. In comparison, minifigures look like a chubby guy with jaundice. Not the greatest summary of a Lego figure, really, but there you go! ~A.S.
  5. Seven of my teachers are stuck abroad as well! So bye bye to PE and my science exam, thank you very much! It's funny how this volcano is possibly the best and worst thing ever. ~A.S.
  6. A pun? No, I can't really see how I'd make a pun out of that, really! And yes, apparently another ash cloud is making it's way over the UK as we speak. Just remember, hang tight, keep up with the news and if it starts "snowing", cover your mouth and get the heck inside! ~A.S.
  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY IZZY!!! I hope you have a lovely day, with lots of Lego, love and CAKE! ~ (Dumbly) A.S.S.
  8. That seriously has to be one of the best lines of the series, even rivaling, "You're Scottish, fry something!" "Would you care for some TEA?!" ~A.S.
  9. UPDATE: Britain is starting all flights from tomorrow. However, most of these will be spent bringing stranded passengers home, and you can expect massive delays seeing as the planes have to actually get there first. Also, some aircraft carriers are being sent out over the atlantic to rescue others, so you can expect this as well. Hope you are all okay! ~A.S.
  10. I think we've just unknowingly released a cascade of old childhood nightmares... Claudius, I think you'd better get a good lawyer! ~A.S.
  11. I agree with that, yes. It's because it doesn't look, well, it doesn't look so human, I'd say. You know when you read about old police cases, and you see the horrid faces they'd come up with and put on posters when trying to catch a serial killer or something? It reminds me of those. Or, it's because I can't really handle anything paranormal. Whenever I read or see something that is quite obviously abnormal and strange, I get a horrible tightness in my chest and up my back, and am slightly short of breath. Just a mix of shock and a bit of fear, I guess. ~A.S.
  12. I know. How ironic! But seriously, does anyone else find his face... well, disturbing? ~A.S.
  13. God, I wish I hadn't clicked that link now - the face is so... disturbing. I'm going to have nightmares now! ~A.S.
  14. Earlier this week I dropped a couple of lines from my signature because I personally thought it was just a bit too big. I think a reasonable height should be proposed, but I have no idea what. ~A.S.
  15. Oh my goodness! That episode was so brilliant I especially love the orange Dalek - the scientist one I think was what Moffat said on Confidential afterwards. He's my favourite Can't wait for next week! ~A.S.
  16. It's not a joke. Microsoft have said since about February that they are shutting off all the Original Xbox LIVE games. For Halo: Combat Evolved (or Halo 1), this is fine, as it doesn't have a Live feature because it came out before Live was invented, but for Halo 2, last night (British time) was the last every time to play it. I signed in this morning and it's been discontinued. I'd still recommend buying it though. The campaign is wonderful, the best of all the Halo games I'd say, and you can still have three others round your house to play split screen games with you. And Halo 2 for Windows Vista still has a Windows Live feature, so get that too ~A.S.
  17. I bring you sad news. You might want to, erm, prepare yourself. Just take a deep breath. Halo 2 is... is dead. Last night, unidentified men known only as "Microsoft" brutally murdered our beloved game, letting it bleed to death for over 36 hours. In those 36 hours, many hundreds of followers got no sleep as they attempted to catch the last few games of Halo 2. Hundreds called in sick, skipped school and didn't go to work. It was all in vain, for many fell asleep out of sheer exhaustion, flopping over their controllers and hugging the Halo 2 box tight as a pillow. But without any official warning other than "Today :(", the Microsoft men switched it off without giving a time so people could get their last ever Halo 2 games in. This is a horrid crime. I leave you now to rant and complain and create multiple hate threads on Bungie.net, as is everybody else. ~A.S.
  18. I can now say that my mother has landed safely in Trinidad. Hopefully by the time she gets back (not tomorrow, but next Friday) this whole mess will be cleared up and forgotten And remember, kids: If ya see "snow" falling, cover your mouth and get the hell inside! ~A.S.
  19. I'm sorry to hear about some of you being stranded, but just remember, you will be able to return home. The most important thing is to let the ash cloud dissolve - your safety is the most important thing to the airlines and that is why your flights have been delayed. In the meantime, keep following the news and stay updated. ~A.S.
  20. I don't know how far over the UK it is, but if it starts "snowing", I've done enough of my Geography to know that I should stay inside! My mother's flight did in fact take off, and they're about 6 hours into it, with another 4 to go. I'd hate to eb on a flight that long. Ugh. ~A.S.
  21. I think Gatwick is where my mother is. I'm monitoring the ash clouds and news reports, so I'll post if anything comes up. I wouldn't worry, the ash cloud will pass over, and then the flights will resume. You'll be okay ~A.S.
  22. I think British Airways has said they aren't letting any flights in or out. I think most other airlines have done the same. And I think my mum would prefer being on the ground than in an aircraft with all it's engines blown out due to ash clogging them up, to be honest! I'm sorry about you not being able to see your girlfriend, it must be hard for the two of you. But, at least you get a few more hours in sunny ol' Florida, right? Give a beach babe a backrub from me! ~A.S.
  23. Ah! So this is what the new skin is all about! Very nice, and I look forward to the upcoming developments in this month ~A.S.
  24. Happy birthday, Zorro! I hope your day is filled with happiness and plenty of Z's! ~A.S.
  25. Hello all. Today my mother is supposed to be getting on a flight to Trinidad to do some research for a textile piece she is working on. Instead, flights across the United Kingdom and I'd imagine other places are grounded due to an eruption from an Icelandic volcano. Here is the BBC News article: This is certainly very interesting and I imagine extremely annoying for both my mother and anyone else who may be flying today. ~A.S.
