  1. Merei keeps watching the hall, waiting to see if the police will be able to open a door without the captain’s keycard. She glances into the room. “If she is alive we can try fire to scare the hydra out of her. At the very least, someone ought to take her gun.”
  2. Happy holidays to those who celebrate! I’m gonna hold off on posting in Mission 7 for a day to give others a chance to respond - afraid I’ve been making too many decisions for the group!
  3. “Very well. Let’s try Security first. Kirwin, if you want to unlock the door? I can stay here to keep an eye on the hall and our new additions.”
  4. Having just made the mistake of assumption, Merei tempers herself. She has a bad feeling about the two men, both as a threat to the party and in regard to their ability to survive, but Kirwin appears to have talked them down. And if they are to remain, she should do her best to equip them with the information they will need to survive. "Kirwin is not saying this for nothing. It is very dangerous aboard this ship. There is a creature here, called the Hydra. It can multiple, it can kill, and it can infect. These tendrils you see are part of it. Secreted by it, maybe. Sentient and waiting, maybe. We don't know. There are survivors, too. Hopefully. Some of the crew. Do not shoot first and ask questions later." Merei steps to the door to the crew quarters. "We'll start here." She points to the Head. "You can start there."
  5. "Assumptions and imagination," Merei chastises herself. Raising her voice, and keeping a careful eye on the Hydra substance that is coating the hallway, she addresses the new-comers. "No. You should turn back. It isn't safe here."
  6. Had a slow day at work today for the first time in an incredibly long time, and did have some time to poke around and check out some other quests and lore. I think it's pretty interesting to see where we are in the game about 7 months in. People are still starting to set up all these factions and planets. We haven't super touched on religion yet, though I see a bit of it from Kinto in both Zaria and Quest 8 NPCs. Politics haven't really entered the story yet either. But we do have these early defining moments: Blackguard, Oc/Tan, Hart, and M-Tec have all been shown once, meaning they are now partially known entities. Same for Cosmopoli, Corvanis, and Recivic, along with the Ebria station itself. I don't really have a point, other than that these early quests are really interesting in how they'll define some later stuff, and there still feels like so much that can still be established! Excited too to start to revisit stuff, and see how people start to remix it. Both this early stage and that early middle stage have so much invention and exploration! And because of how cool it looks, and how much I do want to be a part of the "setting the stage" portion, I'm getting an itch to host. Who knows if I truly can. But vaguely brainstorming. What is the program people use for digital sets?
  7. “Not the answer I was hoping for, but thank you for making me aware of the reality. If we find more than eight, we will find another solution. I am going to step into the hall. Zaria, do what you think is best with the captain. Leave him here, take him with us, send him back to the shuttle. I trust your judgement.” Merei leans over to Kirwin. “How are you with all of this? Do you think you might be safe given your different nature?” Once Kirwin and Zaria have answered and made their decisions, Merei will open the door to the hallway the party has not yet been down.
  8. "More people? I'm afraid it may be Viper's friends come to collect, not knowing what sort of danger they're heading into. Or Hart followed us. Regardless, Zaria, odds are you'll be right eventually. I say we go greet them. If we don't, we will not know when they will get to the bridge, and what they might run into on their way here." Merei reaches out, trying to hang onto Alexa's connection. "Alexa, how many people could we fit aboard the shuttle?"
  9. Merei copies the list of personnel to her own device, adding notes about their status. "This looks like it was poorly handled," she mutters. "Kirwin, Gamma is gone. Can you possibly override the restriction? I'd like to know what Hart was shipping." Returning to the Bridge, she addresses the Captain. "McSorley was sent to destroy the ship. When did that happen? Delta is still attached. Have we stepped aboard a bomb that is likely to go off shortly?" She calls back to the others. "I think we will need to move swiftly!"
  10. "Play them all, Kirwin," says Merei as she steps into the room. She lowers her voice. "Zaria, how can we confirm that the Captain is fully safe to put aboard the shuttle? And other crew members who have been infected, for that matter? I don't think it is wise to bring the crew around Jace and Alexa until we know it is safe. I'm not sure we can even fit a full 22 crew members on the shuttle. Though we are already down two, unfortunately."
  11. "It is good to put a name to things. The Hydra. Understood. The rest could do with some organization. Please, state things clearly. Tell us each member of the crew, and what position they held. We need to account for each of them. This looks like a rescue mission, so we must know when we are done. Secondly, there is reason to believe one of the Starblazers is actively aboard. Do you have any information on that? Finally, tell us the events leading up to the outbreak. We have been able to piece things together somewhat, the death of a crew member, a lockdown on the hallways, but please, in your own words and your own experience, we need a timeline. I want to find out where this Hydra hails from, either this dangerous area of space or a shipping container, and knowing how things happened is our best clue for that."
  12. "I never say no to information, no matter how much. It is clear that there is something dangerous aboard the ship, and we've found some logs indicating some of the events that transpired. Do you know the origin of this strange creature? If it is even a creature at all? Where is the rest of the crew? What prompted you to fly this more dangerous route?"
  13. Loving the Bers information! I don't know if you came up with the rule that you're not allowed to talk about the way adamites are created or if that's library stuff, but either way really enjoy the way he's talking about it. I can't wait for Bers and Kirwin to reunite in a few missions once they're both even more established! Maybe someone will run an adamite specific mission! Also, Classic_Spaceman, really appreciate this hahaha.
  14. "That isn't a bad idea, Kirwin. But let's see what he has to say first, if he is more lucid. I also think it might be wise to reevaluate what we found in the wreckage. Zaria, would you mind terribly giving me one of your Aetherbrews? Or Kirwin? I am happy to part with something in return, but it seems best to spread our useful items out, or hand them to who needs and wants them most, as opposed to randomly leaving them with whoever came across them in space." OoC: I think I should be down an Aetherbrew, having used it in battle, unless I ended up with two somehow?
  15. It's so lovely! It's nice, clean, and extremely well done, but also feels exactly as you've said: playable! Love the front statue, and like others have said, the shape is really nice! The IDEAS pictures show so many fun nooks and crannies as well. Fantastic!
  16. Merei moves to D1 and rallies Zaria. “Finish this. Safely.”
  17. Merei casts healing light on Varen.
  18. I'd agree, it's definitely the way modern RPGs have been swinging! I'm afraid I'm being perceived as negative with pointing out the two player mission and the ease of brining people back up, but that's truly not the case! Just observing in both cases! I do have three rules amendments I'd like to discuss at some point, but just mulling them over and observing some more first! It's exciting, for someone like me who LOVES the storytelling first and foremost but also deeply enjoys game design, to be playing in a system that we can actively change. Overall, though, I think it's a really cool system, and I'm so impressed with what you all put together!
  19. Merei hesitates, not wanting to waste her supplies if they need them later, but also seeing Kirwin injured and Varen down. She drinks an Aetherbrew.
  20. Hm, looking at the stabilization rules, it's SUPER hard for a hero to die in GATs it looks like. It's way more likely for a TPK, since that's the only way that a team isn't going to get someone who is downed up, given the amount of time they have and the many avenues to getting people up they have.
  21. “Kirwin,” Merei calls, “are you alright? Can you give Varen a potion or do you need my light?”
  22. I'm not knocking it! Genuinely excited to see how it goes. I just don't think we've ever done it before in either version!
  23. A two person mission! That's new. Pretty interested to see how it goes! Would love to draw in more players, but I'm truly not sure how to do that hahaha. @CMP, @Khorne, you folks still hanging around? Know everyone gets busy from time to time, genuinely just curious! Also, unrelated, but since I'm already doing an OoC post here, @karmajay why isn't Kirwin wearing their armor?
  24. “I cannot do much of anything at the moment. Getting those things out of the captain took a lot out of me.” Merei’s hand reaches for the Aetherbrew upon seeing Varen injured - but they don’t need it quite yet. Instead, she rallies Zaria. “You have this on your own.”
  25. Merei will take the book, happily observing the foreign tradition.
