    Watching the larger creature fall, and finding herself beside the smaller brethren, Merei defends herself.

    Varen fires on Hydra Sprout A.

    "Well, that was only partially successful," Merei mutters as the Hydra sprout chews on Varen just as her healing light passes over him. "Stay in there." She defends Varen.

    Merei darts her singular burning eye between Varen and Zaria. "I will save you both," she promises, using a healing light on Varen.

    Merei steps forward to C3, staying near Zaria and rallying her. “The others will survive. We must deal with this larger threat.”

    OoC: Zaria should be down a spirit, but have a rally from me and a Warding Bond from herself. Varen fires on Hydra Sprout A.

    “Zaria, whenever you are ready. But remain careful,” Merei says as she glances at the enormous Hydra creature bearing down on her. She defends herself.

    “As you said. You lead.” Merei moves to C2 and rallies Zaria.

    "Thank you," says Merei, further updating her list. "And not safe with the captain, but hopefully safer. Remain vigilant. He was already infected once." She turns to her party. "The lounge and mess hall have both been destroyed. Are we prepared to move onto the Engineering Bay?"

    Merei listens to the recordings as they play, particularly interested in Greenlaw's theories. No time for that at the moment, however. "My name is Merei," she tells Jane. "You've been missing for a long enough time that people were sent to look for you. We are those people. We are going to continue forward, but, please, get to safety. I don't think I need to tell you how dangerous this is. Before you go, however, I hate to ask this, but who is that?" Merei indicates the dead body torn apart.     “I don’t know how long you’ve been here. We just arrived. The captain has barricaded himself in his rooms, I think for the time being it would be best if you join him there. What are your names?” Merei asks as she attempts to remove the remaining Hydra from the face of the freed man.

    Merei follows Zaria’s instructions, guiding the two freed crew members out of the room. “Stay here, keep separate, and remain vigilant,” she instructs them, nervously glancing at the still covered face. “I must go help my friends.” Stepping back into the room she is horrified to see the Hydra attach itself to the back of the Chimerian’s neck. “Kill it.” She steps beside Zaria and, recognizing she can do little to damage the Hydra herself, rallies the warrior’s blade. OoC: Not sure that’s allowed as an out of combat action (pretty sure it’s not) but she doesn’t fight and I’m almost out of spirit so I don’t want to go for another spell quite yet.

    Seeing Kirwin acting, Merei also attempts to reach up to the person on the ceiling, and if they are too far away prepares to use gravity sink, non-harmfully, to pull them within range where Zaria can hack them free.

    “Three, perhaps.” Merei points to the man trapped on the ceiling. “We are not sure of his state. I believe it will be safest if we all act at once. Two of us should extradite the two on the floor, the other two attempt to help the man on the ceiling. Who will do what? Zaria and I on the ceiling, while you two handle the floor?”

    “I don’t trust them either, Zaria, but I am trying to not make assumptions. Additionally, they may have bad intentions, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t also in danger.” Merei asks Kirwin to open the door to the Crew’s Quarters.

    “I think they trapped something in Engineering. Which is exactly where our two new friends have gone. And blown the lock. We have a choice to make. Do we move swiftly, or systematically. I would like to see every room on this ship, in case there are others who can be saved. But I worry for Dean and Duncan.” Merei moves forward, intending to at least identify the body before them.

    “It appears the back of the ship is more dangerous. Kirwin, would you kindly clear us a path in the hallway? The tendrils block our way forward, but you should be able to force their retreat.”

    “The captain intended to destroy it. We can do the same, though it does fly in the face of what we were hired to do, if I recall correctly.” Merei searches the room to see if there are any logs, records, or ways to surveil other areas of the ship.

    OoC: I think we gotta pull the trigger on this one way or the other! Kinto, Karma, one of you do what you're going to do! "I will not stand in anyone's way. I am simply advising that we are making assumptions."

    “Kirwin, with Zaria’s permission, I suggest we use that flame you have on Gail. I will stand by to heal her as soon as it looks like the Hydra is retreating. Again, Zaria, if we are wrong in this, your method is next.”

    “As will surprise no one, I’m in agreement with Kirwin. At least partially. I sometimes fall prey to assumption as well, Zaria, but Kirwin is right that we are none of us medical experts, and the truth is we have not tried to save Gail. I say we make an earnest attempt at expelling the beast. If that fails, I will leave this in your capable hands. An attempt is all we’re requesting.” Hesitantly, still trying to see where the police end up, she leaves the hallway and enters the room, drawing close to Zaria. “You an I are united in at least one thing - as soon as we stepped aboard this ship became our responsibility. I am not here to protect the creature unilaterally. I want to save what crew we can and learn to the best of our ability to what it is that has happened here.”

    Hahahaha. It’s funny because while Boomingham was combative Merei is being entirely allowing, and that seems to run Zaria the wrong way too hahaha.

    “Then do it.” Merei invites Zaria, indicating Gail.

    “We don’t know until we try. And what alternatives do we have? You want to eliminate all the Hydra on this ship. That would involve her death regardless. I can come over there or Kirwin can use his new tool. Well done on that, Kirwin, by the way.”
