Hoke marches around the grounds looking for Guffington, and eventually realizes that the older man has already gone to bed for the night. The heroes eventually follow suit. Only Arthur is still awake, but after his brief meditation (+2 focus). He too slips into sleep. The next morning the heroes awaken and step outside of the temple to meet a familiar face. "Hello, heroes. It has been some time since I've seen faces from Eubric." He turns to Guffington. "I had hoped that my old friend Doctor Daneeka may be here. His attempts to replicate the airships are admirable, but in comparison to some of the work I've seen, this is nothing. But Captain Elba has informed me that he has gone to Baltarok instead. Given the choice, I can't imagine why." Master Jin approaches Hybros and Hoke. "Well won, little imp." He smiles. "The First Breath is a great technique to know, in and out of combat. Now that you have acquired what you came for, will you be on your way? Or do you still wish to learn more?"

Matthias turns to see Solimon land beside him. "Parvati. You're alive." "Just barely." She smiles wanly. "I wasn't worried about you. Not with Zane." Her shy smile continues as she stares at Zane. "Thank you for coming to save me, captain." "It's got nothing to do with you. Dyric promised if I helped him save the Doctor, I go to the Fountain." He shrugs callously. "Is that the wyrm that's got him?" "Yes." "Then let's gut it." Zane turns to Dyric. "When baldy gets here, that half of the map. Don't forget. Or I'll feed my half of the map to a wyrm and neither party will be going anywhere." As the two parties reunite, a third wyrm erupts out of the ground. "Garbage." Zane exhales. Hybros focuses on the mountain and soon becomes lost in his own thoughts, totally forgetting what he is supposed to be looking for, or what the Hel he is doing in Xu. Inhaling, he feels the First Breath rush into his lungs. And his mind erupts with a series of images, making him dizzy. He slips to his side... As he regains consciousness, Lady Felix is standing over him, with Purpearl, Chauncey, Kiga, and Hoke crowded behind him. Lady Felix smiles. "We done here?" Hybros is filled with the First Breath. He may sacrifice a turn of combat to focus and gain +3 power (power resets at the end of a battle or when the hero is KO'd). He also feels more experienced. "Well won, Hybros."

The answer is very nearly that simple. But not quite.
-
At The Vault Hybros begins to focus on the mountain and all around it. He feels air beginning to rush into his lungs, and he is elated. Now, surely, is the time. As Hybros reaches out with his mind for the First Breath, he feels as if he is moving further away from it. The air is sucked out of his lungs. He is left panting, dizzy, and distant. Hoke hears some rustling and turns to see that Master Kiga has come to join him. The old were-lion chuckles quietly as Hybros attempts to gain the breath. He takes out a sheet of parchment and shows it once more to Hoke. It is Master Laghima's teachings once more. "Hu hu hu." "Many people assume the poem is incomplete," says Chauncey as he also arrives to observe the imps attempts. "But it is not."

Picking one of the pink flowers, Hybros is treated to the same visions that Arthur shared a few days before - a slew of Masters meditating outside the Vault. Some faces he recognizes: Master Jin, Lord Chauncey (a few years younger) - he watches as Master Kiga rapidly ages in reverse, and gives way to an elderly male who ages backwards swiftly as well, and then a Aoi who seems nearly ageless. The final thing he is treated to is Master Kiga handing Arthur a scroll and chuckling to himself. Hybros feels totally focused and in control (+2 focus). But he must direct his thoughts towards something. What is he hoping to achieve here?
