  1. "I will not tolerate this insane talk of them expecting me for a meeting. There can be spies anywhere. I do not hide my schedule. I would have taken care of them, it's too bad that I was not there to kill them where they stood." Constance turns to address only Nyx. "This Inventor... could you describe him? Did you get a good luck before they got you? We have not heard of him yet..." "I'm sorry you find our land displeasing. She is not always kind to foreigners, this I know. We have needed to become rough to live here. But that is why you are here, heroes." "You will need a few days to recover. Nyx, you were on the verge of death when we found you, so perhaps you don't owe XX all that much. Thothwick and Atramor, whatever you put in your body is taking it's time coming back out. You could all use a rest. Nikolai is on the front lines, Mallelio is recovering in the room next to your's, and Constance and I will watch out for each other." Phil nods graciously to Felton. "But she's correct, Nyx. If we've not heard of this Inventor, he could be our snake in the rye. If you believe there is a spy... and he was intent on killing you... well, perhaps XX did us all a double favor in leaving you alive."

  3. OoC: I don't really feel like showing you the results of the round so as not to clog up the thread... trust me in saying that you were roundly defeated. Felton kneels next to U'Stus as Tarn trades stabs and jabs with the six remaining enemies, holding them at bay. "It does not matter what happens. He is dead." Felton announces as he gently closes the U'Kin's vacant eyes. "May the Dragons set fire to your heart and fly it away," he mutters sadly. He then stands up and strides past Tarn confidently. He slices the throat of the Dragon Knight and turns to face down Clara when a U'Kin impales him in the back. Tarn back up against a wall and feels a sword slide into his gut. He slouches against the wall. Suddenly, the doors of the mansion bang open and two figures rush in. One of the U'Kin makes his way over to the door and there is a snapping noise. He lands next to Tarn, his rib-cage smashed in. "Charge forward, Constance. Check U'Stus. See if you can capture these people for questioning." The figure raises his great hammer and slams the second U'Kin up against one of the walls. He turns to Tarn. "You heroes are lucky that you have allies who worry. And who can handle themselves in a fight." Dragon Knights and pages pour into the room. Constance beats down Clara and holds her at sword point. "I thought I'd come see what was taking you hired-hands so long with my sword." "Sweep the house, search for others, Nyx is missing. Is U'Stus alive?! Is he alive?" "Go men, go. Listen to Victor for the gods sake. Go." Tarn's vision fades. ------------------------ The party (in full, welcome back, Pandora) awakes in the Dastan hospital. Felton sits a few beds down. Phil and Constance stand in front of the heroes. Phil is chewing on his lip. Constance smirks, but it has lost some of it's previous sureness. Felton stares daggers at her. "Please... what happened heroes. We saved Clara and the Librarian... but they haven't awoken yet. We have no idea... what happened?" "U'Stus is dead, by the way," Constance offers tersely. "Looks like he did need that protection more than me. Perhaps if you hadn't squabbled with me... just tell me who to go behead. My men are itching to make an arrest, as am I." The heroes are still too weak to move.

ZOOT’S BLESSING: The Chaos Defender is struck by its opponent’s special skill. However, Zoot gives the opponent thee Fragile Effect. NOTES: Thought it would be cool half support class, half heavy hitter. Don't know what weapons could be used yet. Like the Hunter's marking the Favored, the Order/Chaos fighting style carries over between battles. Only another shield roll could change it. This is a blessing and a curse. I thought that was a nice way to balance this potentially powerful class. Let me know what you think! It's only a rough draft. The Chaos Defender would start every Quest as "Ordered". Oh, I apologize, I seem to have been working at the same time as you CMP. I'll see if people want to see any of that rolled into the class I created, thank you for the work! People, please comment on his work as well, I want to know if he's thought of something more fitting than I have.
  5. Alrighty - I'd like suggestions. I do wish to make a Wren-Hunter class, but I'm not sure what they'd be. The recurring "Wren Hunters" are Felton, Hans, Poletad, and Phil... and spoiler, McColt will also make a reappearance at a point in the quests. My issue is this - they don't really have any concrete skills as a group. Felton, Phil and Hans are all sort of pessimistic? I don't know... that's really all I've got, and in contrast, Poletad is incredibly optimistic. They don't tend towards order OR chaos, they're kind of a mix between those two. So... what should I do? Just suggestions, if I do make a class, it will be of my design. But general ideas?

  7. Round One Party Battle William v. Party Guest A - Shield William v. Party Guest B - Aim Felton v. Party Guest D - Special Damage (1) Tarn - Stunned Free Hits C v. William E v. William F v. Felton The battle begins. William, in a flurry, fires at Guests A, B, and C, dealing 10 damage to them each. He fires another shot at B for good measure (-5). Felton is rebuffed as his enemy takes another swig of his drink and shoves Felton back as he does so. He then smashes the bottle down on Felton's prized hat, where it shatters (-10). The remaining party guests step forward and beat the heroes relentlessly, bruising William's face (-14) and beating Felton into the ground (-14). 8. Well, I may just be flattered by the numerous shout-outs, but I'll say it - fantastic job. People need to read this, and I'm excited to see what else you have to say. I'll check in regularly as long as my characters keep getting mentioned.
  9. "Hello again, chappo. Just stopping by to gather some information on something. Do you happen to know where we could find someone by the name Rodrigo Devega? The poor fellow owes my friend Nur here a few coins."
  10. Besides, at that point the hero should have a number of weapons... at Level 30?
  11. Even so, as the only standing hero (VP is MIA) I'd appreciate a battle order and action.
  12. And this is one think that bothers me about weapons in Heroica, but it makes balancing easier. All weapons are basically equal strength. A spear, sword, dagger, and pickaxe can all in theory do the same damage. A dagger in some cases can down a huge orge while a sword with a far lesser WP might take thousands of hits. The point is, it really doesn't matter terribly what type of weapons people can wield.
  13. Only failing your objective (to protect 3/5) will result in the failure of the Quest.
  14. Scorpiox, you're right, that would be a fantastic combo. I really like Gurnam and Donny as well. I feel like Gurnam has a certain living with the flow in a scummy way charm. And this, dear Questies, is why you only have to save 3/5 to not fail the quest. I don't want you to win every fight. I have said it before and I will say it again - Quests are too easy! I want people to have the true potential of failure.
  15. "I will once more sit out."
  16. The party and the party guests down their respective drinks. As they do so, another little note pops up and Thothwick reads it before stumbling forward and crashing face first into the ground. Atramor also spins and falls and U'Vires coughs bitterly. "Heroes, if you do survive, telling who killed U'Stus will cripple our cause if you survive I am sorry that it has come to this. You could have been on the right side." U'Vires fires a shot that clips U'Stus' shoulder. The U'Kin spins and loses his footing, smashing his beak into the ground. Blood starts to pool from both his broken nose and shoulder wound. U'Vires sputters and walks out the back door as the enemies approach the remaining heroes. 19. When the Wren Quests finish, I do have plans for a trilogy of short surreal quests. I may start them over the summer, if Sandy okays the first concept. It would involve me running the 4th Wren Quest and the 1st of the Trilogy at the same time, but I think I might consider it.
  20. QM Note: Thothwick, when you figure out what drink you drink, please tell me what drinks the Party Goers and U'Vires will drink as well. They are letting you decide for them. And you can tell William which drink to chug while you're at it. Who knows where VP has gotten off to, apparently I couldn't keep his interest.
  21. Feel free to role play while you solve riddles! ALSO: I make up ALL my own riddles, so the answers aren't out there on the internet. I hate the idea that you can look it up. It's a pain in the megablocks, but makes you guys think, even out of battle.
  22. OoC: Now you really need to look up what prime numbers are... are you not from the USA? Maybe that has another meaning elsewhere? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_prime_numbers#The_first_500_prime_numbers
  23. Don't try to predict how Wren will react to anyone. Or where she might be when. The whole point of Wren is that you can't do that to her.
  24. OoC: Maybe go read what prime numbers are once more. 1 is not a prime. "Wren plays me for no fool. I am aware of who she is and what she is and ins't capable of I am aware of. Perhaps more than you heroes. I was leading a rebellion for my people before she came to Dastan, and I will be leading one after I have gotten rid of her. Yes, heroes, I have told you I am noble, heroes. Once Dastan is won, I will not stand for the likes of Sphinx and Wren once Dastan is won. They are vile to me as they are to you. Destruction is not my goal as it is their's and the Empire. I am not above using people, but I am not used." "Heroes, I do not mean to offend. You know the service that Heroica has done to me... by my side, at the least. I have noticed a trend that I fear must be stopped if you are to deal with Wren, or any opponent. Do not over-estimate your allies or under-estimate your enemies. You may never truly know another man or woman. Wren is the ultimate example of that. We must never carry ourselves as if we alone are in the right and everyone else is ignorant. I came to Dastan to hunt Wren, and here I am prepared to fight a fight between two U'Kin. You taught me that was the right thing. U'Vires is wrong, but do not assume he is ignorant. Even Wren opened my eyes in some ways. Do not underestimate anyone." "Play this game carefully heroes. I fear that if I am made the martyr he would like me to be, the people will be set back if I am made the martyr he wishes me to be. I refuse to have my life's work thrown away that way." "I will drink any drink you are unsure of, heroes. I am from a small town in the High Kingdoms. We have a stronger ability to survive there. Things are rough."
  25. "You sorely underestimate my people and overestimate the Emperors. You say that change is coming you say! When?! We have been slaves to the Dastanians for years. Longer than your Orcs, and our lot has improved less than your Orcs. And even they have not gained true freedom. The Empire may dangle the promise of freedom before us to keep us at bay, but we must take it if we truly want it we must take it. But your stance is your stance. You feel you have a duty. I understand that. I too have a duty. Mine is to my people, your's is to your gold." "I am not unfair. It must appear as a dinner party, and so we must drink as it is a dinner party." U'Vires, keeping his gun trained on U'Stus, walks over to a table that is covered with a clothe. He rips it off and reveals fourteen glasses, each filled with a colorless liquid. The glasses have little pieces of paper in front of them, labeling them one through fourteen. He walks back over. "These are a gift from Wren. So are the brain-dead traitors and soldiers you see behind me. She collected them as a little present to me she collected them. The U'Kin who support the empire, who work as part of it, and the soldiers who keep us in line. She wiped their brains she wiped. Now they will serve an actual purpose in starting the glorious rebellion they will find their true purpose." "The game we'll play is simple. Each of us drinks one of the drinks, and then, the battle begins once each of us has had. Sound fair, heroes?" U'Vires stops. Your friend Nyx is not here... U'Stus and her seemed to like each other. Have him drink a second one. Wren has left you clues on which to drink and which not to drink. She said that you would be expecting them and she didn't want to disappoint you, she said." U'Vires hands Thothwick a slip of paper.
