  1. This wouldn't be an overhaul at all. It would simply mean that when an enemy is listed as "immune to" it would be treated as "immune to". Again, it's been done in the past, because that's the way a lot of the QMs read it. Everything else elemental would function exactly the same. The way that you're describing it, if someone was immune to hastened and then was hastened, they'd get one turn, when really they shouldn't have the ability to be hastened at all.
  2. There is actually a strong against category (x2 multipliers). And I can't speak for everyone, but the news that "immune to" does not mean "immune to" is indeed news to me, and I have run quite a few battles incorrectly in the past because of it.
  3. I also grew up on Pokemon. Don't pokemon have immunities too - attacks of certain elements simply don't work on certain pokemon, and vice-versa? I'm certain. I'm actually replaying Silver right now and I KNOW that's a thing. There's a spectrum - strong against, neutral against, weak against, immune to. They use the word immune to mean immune. But, like I said, its just not the way I understood it in the past because of the wording (I know English isn't Sandy's first language, so maybe that's the confusion!) - I disagree with the ruling, but if that's the way it works, that's the way it works!
  4. I understand the words that everyone is saying, it's the ideas that I disagree with. But ah well, who cares, sure, immunity just means "not-weak against" instead of immune. I can roll with that, even if I strongly disagree with it.
  5. That's not the way I understood it at all. Immune means immune, in my opinion. If a hero is immune to anything, they cannot be affected by it. Isn't that what immune means?
  6. I agree with Flipz. I think the battles work as they are now. You balance assuming that each hero will take maybe one buff. The way I plan battles - some are easily winnable without buffs, most require one or two heroes to have one or two buffs, and then a rare one, once in a blue moon, requires buffs.
  7. I think it would be good for some quests, but not as a game-wide rule. I might steal it and use it against you. It's a character based decision more than anything. Generally my NPCs are controlled by people they would take orders from - and in the cases that they are QM controlled (the case with most of them, in the past, and something I like to maintain [though for obvious reasons its not feasible in this battle]) they will take suggestions from certain people and not from others. I actually prefer making the heroes figure out who can command who - I think it's more fun to make them logically figure it out as opposed to just telling them. It was ruled that way in 92!
  8. I second all of this. I'm glad we reached the decision we did. I agree with it! For once, I'm not raising a stink about a rule change! Look at me, maturing (?) and stuff!
  9. My suggestion: Make it a month or so long event! Some QMs and players could collaborate to put together 30/31 questions. Each day, the person in charge of the question could post the trivia question, and anyone can PM in the answer. Each right answer gets 10 gold. You get 24 hours before the next question is posted, along with the previous one's answer. The most anyone could make is 310 gold. If lots of people submit questions, it would be incredibly easy on everyone, and the people submitting questions would only have to sit out one or two days!
  10. I think trivia might actually be a fun summer event!
  11. OoC: Scuba, don't forget you now also have control of Heweyrt! He might be able to help you out! Unless you're choosing to refuse his help as a character choice, which I'd understand and admire!
  12. "Hoke!" calls Heweyrt merrily from at the top of the tower, "you seem to be doing a fine job of holding the line!" "I told you I picked the best heroes, he he he," giggles Gocklo. "Though they did let that pretty Paladin fall." "Yes, well, that appears to be the trouble that the other heroes are having - making the Paladin fall. Perhaps it might be beneficial to us all if I began to help them a little. I'd really prefer that no irrational monsters storm over this bridge. That includes, of course, both Orcs and righteous servants of the lord of light." "Should I hop on over to those poor saps?" asks Gocklo innocently. "No, no, you hold the front. Lady Nerwen looks like she still needs you hovering over her. I'll see if I can't help advise the others... assuming, of course, they'll take the help I offer." Heweyrt glances first to Dyric, who is lying on the ground, and then to Matthias, who is behaving likewise. Heweyrt sighs and shrugs. "Well... Guts was it? Seems I'm at your command for the moment!" Heweyrt (Non-Combatant NPC) Heweyrt has a 1/2 chance of encouraging someone Heweyrt has a 1/3 chance of making someone lucky Heweyrt has a 1/6 chance of inspiring someone (Takes orders from Hoke on Even Rounds and Guts [for the time being] on Odd Rounds - Round being determined by the upcoming round) (Current Controller: Guts)
  13. You fought hastened enemies earlier this quest. And I'm sure I've used them against you in the past.
  14. I really like how it is. From both a player stand-point and a QM standpoint, it is easy, straight-forward, and gives a challenge to either offer (QM) or to strategize around (as a player). There has never been an issue before with it. Rarely will we see this many enemies with hastened. I think maybe ya'll should be rallying against my enemies instead of the buff.
  15. The War Dogs were also AoE immune! If my heroes had acted differently, the War Dogs would be here. So blame them and their nasty Paladin hating/Nord loving habit!
  16. I also like it as an effect! Though perhaps this should be in the "rules" discussion.
  17. Raguel should also very obviously be immune to instant kill, just like all bosses, but I wasn't the one to post that round and so I guess we won't change it now. Poor Paladin.
  18. It could have, but didn't. And I'd imagine it's just wandering around now, being a horse, doing horse things, probably capable of being mounted.
  19. Very nice catch! I told you guys I was bad at this! David's stun was removed previously, however! Technically, also the way the results are written, Draguyer would be the one still up, as Son C's hit would have landed on him an counted as stunned. That's how it's always been done in the past.
  20. Maybe. I hear that guy made him really rich by balancing a battle poorly in the opposite direction as well. Jerk.
  21. It's not really Guts' fault he's so good, it just makes balancing a little more difficult. If he didn't have an AoE he'd be easy enough to deal with.
  22. I can also speak to the balancing issue. It is tough. We have been trying. We are aware it's very difficult to seem useful. I stuck weaker foes with lust in, and those horses, but Guts is too damn powerful and steam rolled them all. AoE is very difficult to balance against.
  23. OoC: Yes it should have! Thank you! I don't know the answer to the shield question, I imagine they should, right? I'll roll for that right now! One less enemy will be returning damage next round!
  24. Yeah, I said it was a trend I was a part of. Most of the trends I argue against from a QM stand-point I partake in from a player perspective. You'd think I'd learn, but I don't seem to. And we are probably over defensive - we DON'T want it to seem like you're getting away with attacking another player, but probably you weren't and we were over reacting. Sometimes stripping someone of choice looks like an attack, but I don't know if it WAS in this case, I just ASSUMED it - which, as a famous saying goes, makes an @ss of me. As for the mechanics, I understand your point, but I don't think Purpearl wanted to change her actions, and I do think you should have planned around them. They were there when you made your plan, I don't know why you assumed she would change them, and I think it was an unfair assumption to make. You are in charge of only yourself.
  25. I have full confidence that this battle is more than winnable. You have a strong party. Your fellow heroes have an equally strong party that can come help you at any point. It has been a trend (myself included, very recently, as Scuba can attest to) to deem a battle "too challenging" before it being over, or half-way done, or even started.
