  1. I think the bottom pic of the actual set should look ALOT more reassuring to all of us, its probably the most recent that was taken. Anyway, Toy Fair New York is next week, and we should expect our clearest and most definitive glimpse yet of these sets.
  2. It could just be a preliminary image, with it to be changed when final parts are made... I hope that's it. But if not, I can still live with the two different blues.
  3. Wow, this theme is sure shaping up, lots of cool looking bits everywhere! TLG is sure going minifig crazy with this, I can swear there are different alien figs with each individual set! So I think this necessitates my buying all of them. The Skull Twin aliens in Hyperspeed Pursuit are my favorite minifigs so far, and I want to build up a small army so multiples of this set are a must, their like a combination of Blacktron 1 and UFO. The Space Police look very Blacktron-like (I wonder what LEGO could do to make a new Blacktron fig meaner looking?), but its way cool to see the classic air tanks are making a comback even if their helmets are not fully enclosed. I still like the Galactic Enforcer, there are some light rather than dark trans-blue elements in the latest pictures, though I'll still buy it being its a large spacecraft and still looks cool enough to me for the most part. But all these pics are still preliminary and I'm sure there will be changes to come. Anyway I expect Space Police to sell huge, if only on the strength of its classic name and minifig variety alone.
  4. A UCS Classic Space series would rock! I'm not sure what all TLC would have to do to make the idea sell, more changes than some would like I suppose. But I would buy the sets, even if they were like a de-militarized form of Star Wars or something else. The earliest I expect new pics is in two weeks, from the NYC Toy Fair...
  5. I think I would pass on a "Eagle Command Base 2", I still have its huge darn pnuematic pump and hose gimmick occupying much valuable space in my largest LEGO bin (has thoughts of recycling or tossing it)...
  6. A few LEGO Space themes have been known to go without ground bases, with M:Tron and Space Police 2 being among them. But something along the lines of SP1's 6955 Space Lock-Up Isolation Base could be inspiration to draw from for something new, though I would prefer it larger and more enclosed.
  7. Maybe just one beefy fighter or updated Saucer Centurion inspired kit, then I would be happy, as long as I get my modern trans-red windsreen(s). Then again those ideas are probably better left for another Space theme to come...
  8. Well 2 years for sure. But for 2010 I would like to see some more standard/conventional looking space vehicles (maybe with trans-red windscreens) come out for the aliens. And a base for the police, with a return of the Classic Space crater plates in old light gray, though I doubt TLC would mix up a special batch of plastic just for those, but you never know.
  9. Well, Blacktron I was in essence late Classic Space done in black and yellow. I thought the Renegade was cool back in 87-88 for nothing more than the cool new color scheme I suppose, though it wasn't as big as the CS 497/928 Galaxy Explorer, 6980 Galaxy Commander or 6985 Cosmic Fleet Voyager.
  10. The set in bold and below is the star relic of my childhood.
  11. There you have it... I already have planned to aquire two or more 5973 Hyperspeed Pursuit kits, one or two 5974 Galactic Enforcers, and at least one each of all other sets with the Police. Though I'll probably end up buying the whole theme.
  12. I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry, ???
  13. The criticism is somewhat interesting, but all the more distressing to read at the same time imo. In short TLC just can't please everybody no matter what concept they put out, that is one reason they sell a wide diversity of themes I suppose. But then again its against my principles to bash themes just because...
  14. Wow!!! But I think this dude has more http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2208043 (drools in envy and amazement)...
  15. I take it you don't like this theme, so why bother posting?
  16. For not using "curved slopes" and only having basic color bricks, most Space sets of this era managed to look pretty darn cool imo. Playability was great too!
  17. Looks as though the GE will be in for some major surgery and modding upon arrival. But its BIG interior is what has me stoked. Yes, its a great set... Not sure how superior it is imo.
  18. Oh geesh, finally got on today. Simply put, Mars Mission BURIED and soon to be forgotten! I'm absolutely digging all of the Space Police models, and though I'm not big on the baddies I'll probably get a couple sets. For me the SP color scheme is a major improvement over MM. And finally a Space mothership worth placing next to the Deep Freeze Defender and Galactic Mediator, the Galactic Enforcer looks bigger than both with a super roomy interior and a heavy piece count, I expect it to sell for $80 US. The other models are sweet too, I can see many uses for the parts in Hyperspeed Pursuit's Police fighter, along with it being a awesome medium size ship too. All in all an great theme... SPACE IS BACK!!!
  19. Ditto here. Apart from a couple minor leaks, I must say TLC has managed to clamp down a really tight lid with regard to images of Space Police, I just hope they loosen it soon.
  20. Looks like Mark (aka Nabii) has been playing around with some Space Police ideas of his own lately, http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=153223 He certainly is talented! Toy Fair is being held February 15-18, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, http://www.toyassociation.org/AM/Template....al_Information1
  21. So it seems the Lego shop jumped the gun with that banner, hmmm. I wonder if TLC is planning something big with the official unveiling of Space Police?
  22. Not all AFOLs are unpleasable, I for one have bought many Mars Mission sets, with the MX-71 Recon Dropship probably being my favorite of the bunch. But I'll say there are those who'll never be satisfied, unless TLC releases a part-for-part reproduction of the 497/928 Galaxy Explorer or some other years or decades old kit. I feel bad for them, but its simply never going to happen...
  23. Ditto. I think we need a LEGO time machine... Though there are many neat elements about modern LEGO, I'll admit in large part to be one hopelessly stuck in the 80's. Perhaps its has something to do with my age, I'm 33. However I will also admit most of my peers into LEGO back in the day have long since grown out of it, and that new kids with newer tastes have long since taken their place in the market. So I guess when TLC looked back on past themes, Space Police with some updates had the best chance of selling today. It seems they are trying to please many different crowds with this one, and I hope it hits the mark.
  24. Oh well, some higher-res pics of that poster would be equally appreciated. Although I suspect we'll be seeing pictures of actual sets soon enough, wherever they come from.
  25. I have no problem with that, I'll be awaiting them here with great eagerness. If you could sneak in a shot or two of the Galactic Enforcer, or something that looks like a large Police capital ship, that would be most appreciated.
